@Simon Guitar yup when it comes to jazzes I don't think sire can be beat and they are certainly much better value than fenders. Although I'm a precision guy and I'm not sure anything matches the pure fender P.
IMO, these would be exceptionally nice basses, especially for the price, but I can't sign up for the pau ferro fingerboard on the Road Warn (though the piece of wood on this example looks much better than so many others I've seen) nor the neck binding on the 60th. Fender could have saved a few bucks by not adding the binding to the 60th and sold it just as well for the same price.

I have a Roger Waters signature Fender Precision, with poly finish. Please sort out the disparity between the sound of the talkie parts and the bass playing. I always listen using AKG K872 headphones that handle all kinds of bass frequencies without any issues. The bass recording is always muddy and without any ambience and very much lower in volume compared to the voice mics. I take it the bass is just D.I'd. That's fine if you want to hear what the bass sounds like for recording purposes. Surely you can sort this out by using a room mic to get a more realistic live sound. People always blame the poor sound on the listener, saying that it's their computer speakers that are the problem. However, when listening though my AKG's or Studio Monitors the disparity of the recording levels is ridiculous. The voice parts are almost always twice as loud in comparison to the bass. So, what tends to happen is the bass is so quiet that you turn the volume up to hear it, then...... someone starts talking about the bass guitar specs etc and the volume is so firkin load it could burst your eardrums. Why nobody as sorted this out after all these years I'll never know. Other than that, All About The Bass is awesome.
