afterburner "explosion"? No, standard compressor stall. Afterburner cannot "explode" as there is no moving part to it and the fuel dumped into the afterburner and ignited is literally pushed out the exhaust by the air going through the engine.
I saw an F-14 do it once at Nellis AFB. It had just took off and it was about 50-60 feet in the air when it did it. I was like wow, that plane just farted! 😅
The second the #2 engine compressor stalls, you can see the immediate full left rudder to compensate, although it's probably not doing much at that speed.
The F15 technically has no icing restrictions. Enough thrust, wing and aoa to overcome. Even if you picked up 4000lbs of ice, that’s just one external tank of gas. The inlet is not heated, just IGVs and bullet nose. The change in airfoil effectiveness is another issue.
The PT-17 flip would seem to be a result of the pilot failing to navigate a strong crosswind.

It's called an Afterburner Blowout. AB Blowout in the -1CL checklist. Different from a Compressor Stall.

I was a Kadena in 44FS with old F-15Cs with F100-100's. AB Blowouts were a daily occurrence.

Thank you
I wonder if it crapped the compressor blades out the back, like the tf30’s?
No way should they have not deiced. I live in Edmonton and they deice if there’s any snow or even just frost.
It’s fine if it’s above freezing. The wet snow/slush will just blow off just as it did!

Rare once lit, maybe bird ingestion. I’ve had that before same result.
