Thank you for the lesson. I fear losing but I see now that the world isn't over if I lose a fight. It always gets better, and it could have been worse.
This is a solid video - Post Mayweather undefeated syndrome has worked itself into amateur boxing too unfortunately. All the greats have lost. It’s only a loss if you don’t learn from it.
big up yourself all the time, its like guys were waiting for you to lose to say something. its amateur boxing, losses are inevitable and more importantly so is the bounce back. head up #chessboxing
Respect this mentality bro, it’s a learning experience for you and it’s better for it to happen in the amateurs so you can avoid it in the pros. The only way is up from here In Sha Allah☝🏽
Its the rarest thing a man could do while others these days always gotta be on video making themselves look good in fights or sparring for measley likes comments and views and seeing this makes me feel like its ok to step away and rebuild yourself and make sure all the requirements are done before stepping back into the ring and shock everyone
Appreciate this bro I been on a 6 fight losing streak in the amateurs, it started with a robbery and I’ve been mentally checked out since that first one been trying to analyze internally like you are what has been goin on but I can’t seem to figure it out
Great video bro very relatable, i didnt listen to my body before my last fight and went in there ill i had no energy and lost on a split. Only lessons to be learnt thats what amateurs is for at the end of the day💪🏽
Takes balls to post not only the loss but to also talk about it. Respect brother inshallah you’ll come back stronger and sharper both mentally and physically. 🫡
I went through the same thing. Fought 2 weeks ago Sunday had to make 59.9 kg was 62.7 on Friday. Had to lose so much weight and miss meals. Came in on weigh in had only one drink and missed weight by 0.4kg. Had to run it off to make weight, hold my breath just to be on the limit. Was anxious all day till the fight happened and although it was competitive lost unanimously because I tried to get my opponent out the there because I wanted the fight to end early
I hate the words making weight. Now is possible not the time to talk on why. I see the fight and one thing I’m surprised, or should I say I would of expected you to speak on is getting up to quickly. Only you now how you was feeling and not making any excuse for you but I feel looking at it that taking a knee might have been a good idea because the ref never waved until you rose up. May I ask are you going to make weight again or simply box at your weight?? I feel a lesson you could take is if ever faced with that situation again to take the count to 7/8 before rising but we say that but who know if a fighter is thinking clearly enough in them moments. I feel often pride wants fighters to jump up. I coach and had a fighter close to me recently get stopped in a cup bout. He never got dropped but took 3 counts one in the first round which caused me to slightly panic as I had never faced any adversity with this particular young man, then two more in the third. After first as I said I panicked and asked my fighter to push the issue and try to even the score, even though it was a 50/50 round and I didn’t feel he deserved the count. My boxer body language suggested he was disappointed and didn’t agree with the count either. The second round I believe my guy won. Then there were two counts in the third. The second counts was also soft and we didn’t agree by this time I was really panicked, I felt a robbery was on the cards and urged my guy to push for the stoppage, which he tried but he was physically and emotionally drained by then and got caught with a good shot which rocked him he didn’t respond well to the ref and the ref stopped it. Lesson I learned as a coach is don’t show panic as once a ref make a decision there is nothing I can do to change it and panicking is most definitely not going to help the situation, I should of kept a cool head. My fighter lesson is to get his hands up a show that he is ok and wants to continue unfortunately in all the counts he never puts his hands up and showed his frustration. Which is a lesson on his behalf to put hands up and react in a manner that say I’m good and ready to continue. He also boxes at 71kg and makes weight, which he was happy making and to be fair he looked well. I do believe in having a optimum weight but don’t agree with making weight. Different takes on the lessons as we don’t lose only learn. Hope I have given room for thought
No disrespect because you are one of the best in the country. You said it yourself. However this clip can be cut down to one reason and 3 words ‘you lacked discipline’. It’s a great clip and you explain things well but would you have made this video explaining your struggle if you had won? If you are not fit to take part on the day, then don’t. It’s on you buddy. AJ is a highly underrated boxer, who came up from 67 to 71 I’m sure that carried its own challenges. Like I said you are one of my favourite senior boxers but did your arrogance and self believe in your ability also contribute. You have a whole year to plan for the biggest tournament in Europe. So struggling to make weight 24 hours before the bout should not happen at your level.
100% lack of discipline bro. I explained that in the video. Emphasising on my poor preparation. Ultimately, what you said is not wrong and I appreciate the comment. But what I explained in the video doesn’t contradict that. I am still learning in and outside the ring but due to my platform, my mistakes become magnified but i’m ok with that 👊🏾. For the Londons I was able to make the weight much easier, I think my body needed a rest as I didn’t give it one. But this is another lesson I am grateful for.
@@yaseenramsey bro you are an absolutely brilliant boxer and a credit to the sport. I look forward to seeing you in the pro’s representing the sport. I am also humbled by your dedication to your Muslim faith. Keep it up my brother 🙏🏽
If you're getting knocked down so heavily like this during your amateure career you should actually reconsider boxing cause the pro's is referred to as the hurt business and i definitely see you getting badly hurt. It also looks like you focus mainly on padwork/bags and avoid tough sparring which is very common amongst young boxers who have a large social media following, they rather look good for their story but avoid tough sparring at all costs.
If you watched the video I stated why I believe I took a loss like this. And your comment about sparring is incorrect. Sparring is my favourite part of training however, ‘tough’ spars often don’t get recorded and if they do I tend not to post them, I only post short clips of the spars I decide to post.
Takes a big man to do this, respect to you💯 this mentality is what’s gonna keep you at the top🫡

You have to lose to gain knowledge or else you’ll forever be stuck at one level
You got this bro, don’t let fear hold you back!
I feel like this is the beginning of his journey, I believe this experience is gonna make him an elite fighter.
