13:44 get me. The look on Paula's face when she see's Eric on her run. Just the shear emotion she has seeing the person she loves when she's hurting so bad. Pure love!
Great video! 13:45 - the two of you meeting during the run; finally pictures of the podcast; feeling jealous for the people that had the honor to meet you in person in the coffee house, live listening to the pod, run with you. You are there, you really created a community. Very brave to speak so openly about your emotions. Thank you for creating this.
Jesus, Nick. I’ve never heard anyone describe the agony of a bad race so accurately and elegantly. Holy hell that was depressing. Feeling blessed to be a meathead and incapable of that level of introspection and self reflection.
This conversation is one of the best things I've heard/seen on this channel. Been watching since its conception. Thanks for your honesty. I'm an even bigger fan of Paula now.
Appreciate the rawness and the emotions of going through the recap even on not your best day. Oceanside doesn’t define your season, onwards and upwards ❤️
I appreciate you guys for sharing all your emotions, the highs and the lows. I trained a whole year for 70.3 Oceanside with the goal to beat my last year's time and ended up coming in 45min slower than the previous year....some days it is just not meant to happen. I appreciate all you share from a professional standpoint. The season has just begun! You'll crush it.
Appreciate the honesty and real life challenges you shared in your post race recap. Glad the over all experience was great even if the race isn’t didn’t entirely go as planned. Many of us can relate to this experience, although not our job, still an awareness of the emotional impacts results can have. Glad you had your crew with you to carry the load.
Followed this channel for many years!!!! Loved Paula through the Olympic days, cheered on Eric in Korea, etc. but after this I now gotta listen to the podcast
Amazing! Thank you for being so open! I have no doubt paula that you will find your stride, be positive. You bring so much to everyone around you, so proud of u! 🇨🇦
I so miss it when I get out of sink with these videos, however I am here as always, rather late but present as always. Stay safe both see you next week, if I get in sink? Much love from the UK.
Thanks for introspection so soon after race. Interesting to hear how comfortable Eric was on bike. During Outside’s coverage each of the commentators and coverage thought you looked uncomfortable and slow-mo you sliding back and forth on seat. Great job moderating Nick.
I was there watching the race and cheering. I think both of you did great and I know it was probably not the results you wanted but you got great finishing times.
Thanks for sharing your journey with us! Thank you for sharing your race feelings, never forget that you are a world class athlete & that you are very inspiring 🤩 Big fan of you all, Alison from Switzerland
Massively inspired by you every video. Appreciate your candid thoughts and for recapping it so close to the finish. Loads of love. Should be really proud of what you've achieved, not just during such a difficult race but for the ripple affect of your documenting all of this. Grateful. ONWARDS! xx
Negative emotions take such a huge toll physically to our body. In all fairness Paula, you did great considering all or this. You showed up and stuck with it until the end. You will surely see benefial lessons, give it time. Kudos to you. Oh, Eric and Nick are pretty awesome too!👌
You’re too hard on yourself Paula. You ARE world class and you ARE a champion, don’t doubt that for a second. The human body is an incredibly complex machine. Who knows why one race is a dream and the next an out-of-body type experience. Your competitive fire is a joy to behold. Thanks for sharing the heart wrenching journey that is racing triathlon.
It may have not been your favourite to do, but as a viewer it was excellent to see and feel some of the pure emotions. All the best with your upcoming endeavours and races.
Thank you for sharing so raw, honestly and authentically Paula❤ I hope a little time helps give you some way to gain a little different perspective and be less hard on yourself! Loved watching the Live pod. So jealous to see everyone get to be with you all Live. Podcasting, coffee and running, perfection!
I want to thank you for being so kind with all of us that showed up at communal coffee, it was really nice meeting you guys (and Flynn) ❤️ And I loved being able to cheer for Eric and Paula at the finish line 🙌 Amazing video!!!
Best kit. Great bike! 24hr rule and onwards. Interesting my last cry? Boston finish after same feeling all race. Ended up. I had Covid 🤦♂️ that On setup is awesome!
paula I know you'll never see this but seeing you cry about your race mirrors exactly where I've been in my phd program. Just so so much stress and as of today, crying. Which I kind of hated to be honest because I thought it was ridiculous cause what's crying supposed to do ?? but then when you said I never cry except about this and that means I must care, a lot. That's my pivotal moment, the realization of the immense investment in something and simultaneously that it can be taken away. But caring about something is a gift. Having something to love so much and cry over, is a gift. Because that means we're out there fighting the hardest fights for the biggest prize. I doubt this makes sense but I deeply appreciate you sharing your vulnerable moments, especially this one.
Paula, thank you for your honest thoughts. I had a similar experience at Oceanside. I was so disappointed to perform terribly relative to expectations and it is cathartic to know that pros have similar experiences. Thank you for sharing.
Hey TTL, I'm sorry that your races didn't go as planned but your honesty really helps us age groupers in so many ways. It's also refreshing to see and hear your emotions and we respect you both more because of it.
Oh gosh, my race start felt just like Paula’s and was miserable from the very first second. But since it’s not my career, I decided to pull out instead of digging myself into a hole. Been there, done that and turns out I was halfway to being sick 🤷♀️ it was a blast cheering everyone on instead!
I hate having a bad race!!! It is validating to hear pro racers have bad races and how to learn from them and at least we have those experiences in our heads to help us get through the next race! I have been here before and got through it, for example!
Paula, thank you for your vulnerability and honesty. It’s cool to see how you deal with the bad days and keep going. It’s really valuable stuff! As an aside, Eric what mic were you using for the podcast recording, it sounded fabulous!
Hey, if you guys got on the podium every race it would look way to easy, there would be no drama, we would all lose interest. Don’t forget, you guys are still our heroes.
Video of the podcast was really cool! Getting to see body language and facial expressions. It would be really cool if you make a pod video a regular thing. (Might be a big ask to add it to the workload)
Honesty....I think it's impossible to have a perfect race especially as an age grouper, who is getting near the podium. It frustrating but its 3 sports and 2 transitions plenty of room for something to go wrong. And sometimes its almost laughable. I was once in a tight transition with 50-55 age groupers and we were all taking wetsuits off and one guy fell and 10 of us went down like dominos. I once got on my bike in pouring rain without my glasses, which i need to see and did the bike squinting...lol...Anyway as you know I'm the old guy in NYC, who loves you guys and been there from the beginning. Love your vlogs and my swag and still waiting for the 65-69 TTL developmental team
If the feet ached and the legs felt terrible perhaps a different shoe? Obviously you are already thinking of potential changes - what’s different from last year and what can be changed or tweaked….. cool vids.
Even on a rough day keep on trucking.. remember your life is exercising for a living and living in a van.... I 'll trade you for my corporate life !!! haha A bad day is better than a good day in front of a fucking computer !!! :)

I'm here for the sea lions 🥰
This video is awesome and so are you guys!!!
Loved hearing your thoughts.

I think we've all been there with you Paula, @ 13:40. There's always tomorrow to apply what you learned from yesterday.

But Paula! The new kit was muy fuego 😎
Your too Eric, best version yet 👍

Nick is magic
It's true. I can turn a chocolate chip cookie into thin air.
Even if the races didn't unfold as you would have wished at least you looked good doing it. The new race kits are fire!
Wow this is amazing. Thanks for a great video

I need to buy a TTL hat. Good early season testing Eric and Paula
Lovin the videos 😀

10:27 Paula and Eric, cheered the whole race for you. Paula check your race number on the bike. It rolled up in the wind and caused some drag.
14:14 better shot of it here.
It's racing....it's fair. You said it
👍❤❤❤👍~peace~
@ 9:15 - Some serious swim form ^^
More peaks to come.....shred on TTL!

In desperate need of twice a week uploads. Waiting a whole week to watch TTL is not good for my soul or patience lol
The shot of the surfer cutting off Paula on the run just made my blood boil… so disrespectful
Chin up kids!!!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
