Paul - Навчання та стиль
Hey! If you're wondering about how my guitar is running into the computer, I suggest you check out this video (if you finished this one):
ua-cam.com/video/awzXNl30lKg/v-deo.html (How To Record Guitar)
Paul Davids next time try to find like BB king sound,SRV,Jimi Hendrix or Steve Vai,that would be awsom
ps:you have a super great videos👍
I was wondering the same thing...did you record these samples using amps and mics like the suggested video?...or is it fully software recording system?. Is it like....guitar to audio interface...Bias Fx 2 capturing and processing the signal...and sending it to a computer speaker ??. BTW...that Bias FX2 software sounds pretty badass. Great video Paul !!. Thanks for sharing. I'm seriously considering buying that Bias FX2.
Next time Brian May
I’m a bit naive with using computer effects as I’ve always used a Roland Cube or other modulating bedroom amps pretty much. Where would be a good place to start if I want to start getting involved in this use of digital effects?
Why do you play so awesome man???
"His B string is a little tuned down"
Excellent ears my friend
I know right. That blew my mind. It would have never entered my mind, it seems so obvious now. it's unreal how Paul picked up on it and super cool john did it. That's truly hearing it in you head first.
The Music Guy's I think the slightly de-tuned B string is actually a big part of this riffs magic. It really sweetens the sound to my ear. Wonder if it was intentional or just a happy accident in the studio?!
Unreal.
He made a whole video about it. He knew already that fruschiante tunes down his B string to make it match the scale better
Tanguy Laloy he made that after this one.
SRV’s tone
Hendrix tone on little wing
Brian May’s tone
Van Halen
clapton on beano album
Hell yeah
Brian May's tone is literally impossible. You would need his guitar...
@@gi5089 Agreed. It's so magical and unique. I mean there are replicas out there but nothing will ever beat the original or come close to it.
@@gi5089 you'd also need to play with a coin lol
My face lit up when he said John Frusciante
Yesss
YEEES
I just call him "King John"
Me tooooo
that's the only reason I watched the wideo
David Gilmour Comfortably Numb Live Pulse tone recreation?
I love Pink Floyd so much! second favorite band ever!
@Appie Floyd that’s exactly why it'll make a good video!!
You guy need to see Andrey Korolev cover ;) your welcome
ua-cam.com/video/ynSc2oYemsE/v-deo.html
That tone is only in the Gilmour's fingers...
@@fabianbjunior I disagree with that statement tbh....I think your sound will only come from your fingers (the small details which make every guitarist unique). But tone?
Smooth - Santana
Another Day - Dream Theater
Money For Nothing - Dire Straits
Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd
The Messiah Will Come Again - Gary Moore
Recreating the sound in Money For Nothing is actually impossible :D
Not sure, but i think Paul said it once in a Video. And that even Mark Knopfler doesn't know how they made this sound so perfect.
Guess they were all drunk as hell and wanted to record, plugged everything in and somehow this magic just happened.
Alex Mercer Knopfler is not that guy.
He is a fuckin’ skilled player. Knows all jazz, classicals, music theory, great playing skills.
Hendrix, Santana, SRV, Gilmour, etc.
Theye are one of a kind players!
You’ll never sound like them.
Also keep in mind, they could do the magic on your rig(fot those who have the main part of their rig)
@@ston3rsnail Tone is in the fingers right, but then again it is a challenge so, i'd really like to see him try
The only way to emulate Knopfler's sound is to be Knopfler himself. His tone came from his hands
G
Wow. What a great series! It’s honestly the best “sounds like” video I’ve seen. It’s very different as well. Please do more! Please!
Can you do guitar collection video?
Yep!
@@PaulDavids yes please
Paul Davids awesome!
Oh my gosh I'm excited!! Thank you for teach me and my 8 year old son how to be better.
Absolutely do more of these!! A lot of great tones to cover! A real treasure trove out there! Good job thanks ♥️
TONE CHALLENGE 2 Suggestions :)
- Soda Stereo: En la Ciudad de la Furia (MTV Unplugged)
- John Mayer: I Don't Trust Myself (Live L.A.)
-
John Mayer: Rosie
- Gary Clark Jr.: Bright Lights
- Gary Clark Jr.: Numb
José Luis Bremer Gómez pelase
David Gilmour "Shine On" Tone
Mark Knopfler "Brothers In Arms" or "Money For Nothing" Tone
Money For Nothing is a wah pedal in the mid position but don't touch it. Mental
Yes, but originally it was an accident/experiment in setup, not a wah. The amp mics were set up pointing all over the room, they were nowhere near where they were supposed to be. They were just naturally out of phase. He had to use a wah to replicate it later.
More of these please!! So fun to watch you recreate these iconic tunes
I've learned so much about equipment, tone, terminology, and sound dynamics just enjoying these videos. Going to try and use my modeling amp to mess with achieving these tones! Thank you for the effort and time you put into providing these videos for us, Paul!
Your ability to do this is nothing short of amazing. When I hear a song, I can hear the chords, but I cannot for the life of me figure out the tones. (It's part of the reason why I ended up selling my electric and sticking to acoustic.) Just awesome - love it, Paul!
Brian May, you should really make this a series and make more of this video, really enjoyed this!
It's a delight to watch, bonamassa tone gave me the chills. Amazing stuff
Brilliant again. Well explained and looking forward to the next one
Amazing, clear as usual explanation. Keep these classes in the screen. Many thanks
Very useful, thanks Paul!
Paul- I really enjoy getting ideas from you. Your teaching methods are very easy to grasp, even when you are covering a very technical topic!
I’m happy Paul included Frusciante in this video. His playing/tone is out of this world. I hope he does future videos on him.
Definitely would love to see more of these. Great video! 👍
Paul your videos are so entertaining and informative. You are such a good well-rounded guitarist. Well done
Great video idea Paul! Loved the way you got Frusciante's tone all on your own.
9:01 in my head "wicked game" automatically started playing
Exactly dude
And i thought i was the only one who 'heard' that...
That software is awesome Paul (and so are you!)... the visuals for the GUI are amazing!
Keep the great videos coming...
keep up the great videos man! youve always had top quality in everything.
Shine on you crazy diamonds.. especially the third solo pls!!!
Fascinating! Your video editing skills are top drawer as well as your musicianship and communication style. Great job. I'm so glad to have found your channel.
This is one of the best tone matching videos. Please make more!
I have the original bias fx for some weeks now, it is just amazing and worth every penny. Saving up for fx 2 now 😄
Tone challenge was awesome, would be great to see more of these!
Yessss, would love to see more Frusciante content, especially his solo stuff!
Awesome concept & execution, love it
Absolutely brilliant presentation and playing Paul. Greetings from Australia!
Two my favorite guitarists, love the constant uploads :)
My goodness, you're a magician. That was awesome to watch you reconstruct.
Yes! Please make this a series!
Please continue do this videos! Really amazing content!
Hendrix! Little Wing, Purple Haze, Watchtower, so many tones!
Thank you so much for this video! Oddly enough, this video helped me figure out a problem on my strat not sounding stratty at all. Glossing on how the video helped me understand it, it turns out the pickups were set too high!
Your videos are outstanding as is your playing. Loved hearing your John Mayer adjustments - became a good teaching moment. I use a multi fx pedal by Zoom and this gave me some good perspectives.
Jimi in Little Wing
Clapton in Wonderful Tonight
Jake Kiszka in Edge of Darkness
Great concept for a video. Do more of these please.
Hey Paul, one of the great videos I ever watched for recreating tones and enjoyed a lot. I’ll give it a try with BIAS. Thank you, keep up shooting!
I'd like to see a challenge with Steven Wilson, David Gilmour and John Petrucci.
Great ideas inside to use for finding your own tone, nice work.
The gear obsession is strong with this one. Amazing tones in almost no time at all. Enjoyed the video.
That was awesome! I really enjoyed your take on why you picked some the gear and then how you changed the settings based on what you heard. That was very informative. Would be really cool to see the full 10 min of each tone as 1 video each, or even better a longer version since the hearing the adjustments made and why is extremely helpful. Thank you for a fun video Paul! Also, BIAS FX2 sounded amazing! Really impressed.
Awesome man! Just Awesome!!!
What kind of mind or ears you have man!!!! Really you did this just hearing? Really, respect you!
Awesome video. For people starting the software is great option just to try new things in the learning curve. And having it reviewed or used for guys such as good as you helps to understand the real use of them. Thanks and cheers
I dont ever comment on anything. Paul you are my hero. Your so straight and to the point teacher. Perfect for intermediates that are stuck on a hump. Thank you for all the inspiration. When i play in my worship band Im playing inversions of chords to spice things up. Why? Because of you, your a fantastic teacher thanks for putting so much of your time into this. ---Corey
great thanks Paul I will try some of these setups and put them my way. I am inspired :)
Mayer's main reverb is a bricasti m7. The spring reverb was added on a separate track just for the muted kick. The compression was done before the amp, and a bit after the amp. :)
The rest wasn't really that complicated :)
P.s. since you can choose the mics, it was prolly recorded with a md421 close, a ribbon and a u87 a feet away (off center)
Love this! More please!
Dude, I like your guitar! And thank you very much for the tips on the tones! Cheers!
Brilliant....great ear.....superb knowledge
I love how you noticed that Frusciante had his B string tuned down a bit
Make an episode solely dedicated to the sound, style, and of how he influenced, of The Edge.
...or however you say what Im trying to say.
Please.
Really cool video format !
Hey Paul, hope you're doing fine. One thing I realized having fun with some EQ in bias FX, is that if you boost a little bit in the high mids range (before the amp) it will give a boost to that strat snap, and that could be what's missing to john's tone!
Cheers from Brazil!
(Hope I'm not talking BS)
Great results! Love to see you repeat this exercise using Positive Grid's tone matching tools. Easier? Better results? Would be a fabulous episode.
That video was so great and helpful. Thanks...
I’ve been using BIAS FX on the iPad for a few years now. Rehearsals, live and in the studio. I’m super impressed. I use it with the iRig HD 2, BlueBoard and tube amps. Just need need to watch the global EQ and cab settings.
You are a great and inspiring musician. Fantastic channel.
Fredrik Åkessons's (Opeth) solo at the end of "Hope Leaves" live at Royal Albert Hall :)
Bias FX2 is such a big leap from the first one. Love it. Congrats btw great tones!
How so? I'm interested whether I should upgrade. Can you provide some more information?
That’s how I spend my days with my Helix trying to replicate our playlist. Some success but I fined when I go back the next day they need tweaking further. I am waiting on my Positive Grid Spark so I can access the tone cloud and assist with a patch path that maybe will help with any new Helix patches. Thanks for putting your tones up there for us. Excellent video as always.
Santana, Mark Knopfler, BB King, Slash (Sweet Child Solo) would be fun, Paul!
Hi David
For the John Mayer sound I would recommend this order:
1/ Compressor (light)
2/ Dumble
3/ Brit Carbon
4/ Gate (I prefer Noise Reduction instead)
5/ Reverb (I prefer Plate over Spring)
Sometimes I use just a tiny bit of a very Short Delay (60 - 90ms)
Great video Paul !
I'd love to see an episode 2 with Matt Bellamy, Mick Taylor and Pete Townshend
Matt Bellamy would be sick !
I would love to see one for Matt Bellamy
I’d love to see you recreate Lil Wayne’s tone on his world famous Lollipop live performance
Great video and demo on tone creation!
ye this was fun, i'd like to see more of these
Great video Paul.
Very cool video idea Paul, really well done! Cheers brother
Thanks D
Good stuff! Setting a timer is a great idea. Makes it more of a ear tone training type exercise as well as getting great sounds. 🙈
awesome video !!! pls make more videos like this one, somthing like a serie where you get to certain kind of tone , it will be so much helpfoul for people like me ,without experience with pedals en effects!
awesome!! 🤟🏼🤟🏼😎 just came expecting some of John Frusciante's legendary tone and I'm very satisfied!! it sounds super cool!!!
David Gilmour in Comfortably Numb and The Edge in With or Without You
Nice video, very entertaining, educative, pleasant. More of this ones please. Santana, Gilmour and...whoever you want
I know most people like to hammer Line 6 gear, but I love it, their bigger amps and pedals come with this kind of software to dial in the sounds of another amp, effects pedals, delays, wah, you name it, in whichever order you like. You can build your own presets on their spider remote software and really tamper with the entire sound and upload it into the amp.
Wow ok so this was an amazing video. Surprised my cellphone had speaker capability and was blown away by how close you came to Joe Bonamassa's sound--well done.
Very Nice Paul!!👏👏
Adds are getting pretty smart nowadays. Loved it!!!
Very helpful. Thank you
Great Video! You could have mentioned the pickup used too. I think Frusciante is using a slide on the last solo which effects the tone a lot.
Hey Pew!! Nice video, very useful, thanks.
thanks mister Paul for this video.. greetings from Senegal 🇸🇳
The sound of the second guitar solo in the Eric Clapton version of Autumn Leaves
You need a L5
Most say I am impressed with this digital system. Well done.
Excellent video! I think a couple of aspects of Frusciante's lead tone was the 'cone cry' overtones of the speaker getting driven hard at high volumes - quite likely as he was using a plexi driven hard during this album. I know UAD factor this in with their cab modelling. Also, on the record Frusciante uses slide for the solo (likely the most prominent effect on his sound) which will create resonant overtones from the string resonating from the slide back to the nut, which in turn colours the pitches being picked up between the slide and the bridge.
I'd like to see you making Brian May' s tone! Your videos are great Paul!
This was awesome man.
Terrific video Paul, and to me it best promotes the Bias FX2 app. I've been interested in it for a while now...
Hey paul, part 2 would be legendary too
Great Lesson!
More tones NOW! No time limit!!!
Please keep doing more tone challenges!!
