I think window magnetism is in apex because if you try to climb the side of the elavator in the streamer building it pushes you into the room.
im so glad someone has acknowledged this, that wall drives me insane lol

if you turn around while being pushed into the room the game puts you in a wallclimb so window magnetism is 100% a thing, we just dont see it happen often since there is no wall running in apex
Did this not just start happening this season though? I swear I used to be able to climb there.
@@zHammy72 you cannot climb on the left side of the entrance of the top to the elevator of streamer building. It’s impossible, it forces you immediately to the side (inside elevator) and doesn’t let you even mantle the wall. Season 0 player here and it’s been like that for as long as I can remember. I’ve always personally attributed it to a bug.

I think that because how the Source Engine handles geometry, curved surfaces have to be made with special models and not displacements, so the window magnetism would only apply inside buildings that are made like how they are in Kings Canyon and more importantly in Apex? Best way to test this would be to investigate all the Kings Canyon versions and see if there is a special model (curved or otherwise) that also doesn't allow magnetism. My theory would also explain why its only those specific windows on KC and the streamer building ziplines do that. They could have also just applied magnetism specifically in the World's Edge buildings to ensure better movement on the ziplines. Another easy theory for the buildings could be they are just a leftover from Titanfall 3, which would have probably had the same magnetism present, which is why no new maps in Apex have this effect on windows.
Actually there is a funny thing about high jumps on horizontal zips. Basically you need to put them close, but not much, like they should cross but the origins should be around 2 meters apart. You come to one of the origins and do your super jump. Some how the effect of super jump will stack from both zips and you will fly 10 meters high.
That's literally what he showed around 2:10
This is so interesting, I’m happy there are still things to find and new techs to learn! I might need to spend some games on the corner of skyhook or lava city practicing this.
tap jump also works in king canyon at spotted lakes and crash site yellow dome buildings if you input a redirect while tap strafing at the end instead of just holding s you get to keep your momentum and can come of the zip at crazy angles but every thing else im taking notes lol great video broski
my guess is geojumping works because of how the engine handles playermodel-geometry overlap. think of the engine as giving your character a bit of velocity in order to push you out but when you jump input you essensially add extra velocity causing the larger jump. theres probably some magnification somewhere but thats source for you
A far as I saw, the Climbing works on Storm Point round houses' windows for some reason. Saw Nokopuffs climb on window in Fish Farms with no horizontal surfaces available, probably works on other houses of this type too.

6:33 the mag-jumps also happen in some of the zipline buildings when you try to jump into the shaft for some reason you go a little higher and faster than.

Wasn't there a similar climbing technique used where you can get onto those yellow tanks/silos on World's Edge, for example found in Dome or Overlook?🐒
the Magnatism thing from the fragment buildings is totaly true just try to climb onto the roof of the building right above the zip. Or slidejump against the wall on the very top floor. It pushes you into the ziplineshaft instead of stopping you.

The little clip of window magnetism you showed kinda reminds me of how you snap out of the straight line of movement when you ceiling surf with an octane jump pad
Also the top of the three story building in skyhook by the train station has a weird mantle interaction when you slide into a wall climb on the thin left side of the top. It doesn’t let you climb the wall or stick to it, instead sends you into the rope shaft. I tested many times
I saw the tap jumping (or something similar) back around season 3 but never thought of trying to learn how to do it

i remember watching a video back in like season 8 where streamers stumbled upon a weird bug in the same building you showed the Tap-Jump, which allowed them to randomly jump a little higher.
I think it was in like 3rd floor towards the elevator shaft.
If someone manages to replicate that, i think it's pretty safe to say those openings are 100% treated as windows and could give some more insight in how mag jumping works, since the shafts opening starts on ground level, unlike the Kings Canyon windows
you can geo jump over small obstacles reliably with a lot of speed, or as least i think so, ive done something very similar by the concrete barriers on the west side of construction. i think maybe because he had his stim it made it possible for him to do it, idk how he did it in the doorway tho

@@Caio_7274 well u can superglide, walljump, have a tapstrafe equivalent, you also cap hyper and ultra jump, do whatever exist with zips as pc etc
So basically yeah there is a few things u can do, most of those u cant are just used for fun and arent really useful at all so it doesnt matter ^^
Just flickstrafe being super hard to use on ground but u can train

Thinking geo jumps could also be frame dependent and it’s just a player collision issue so it tries to push the player out of the geometry once they clip slightly into it
in the one zip building on WE (2:20) there is a rug/mat/tarp on the 2nd or 3rd floor that gives you a mag-jump I think but its kind of inconsistent

I think geo jumping has to do with intersecting geometries/walls. It reminds me of parallel universes in SM64 and a video by pannenkoek I think that has to do with walls and calculating player position.
Basically your velocity changes your calculated next position and when that’s going into a wall the code has measures to prevent you from going through. When corners come into play different things happen because the intersecting walls effects compound.
the window magnetism may only work in those kings canyon buildings because they are much older than the other buildings and could use models with weird code that had this magnetism and in the newer buildings they may have had different tools and such to create the windows.

If I was to guess why only some openings seem to have window magnetism, I'd guess it's because they have some special brush in the editor that you need to use to flag an opening as getting window magnetism, and that it only got used on some older window entities and then they stopped using it since they're not actually using the mechanic.
Wonder if the infinite climb strat can be used to double wall jump? I think maybe somehow you can reset your climb fatigue to do another wall bounce.
The most smoothest movement tech that I have ever done is a super glide off the gondola in the direction it is moving in. I did not have the speed rate meter turned on at that time but I flew faster than the one shown in this video and it is so cool with Horizon.

Too bad the first tech relies on lurch so no fun for me as a console player! But I can't wait to watch it! For geo-jumping, mess around with FPS a bit. I have gotten several weird jumps, usually with slightly increased speed from grapple or super glide, and I would say they looked a lot like geo-jumping. I'll see if I have any clips around of it. But it feels to me like it could be more common on console with bad FPS.
what if you superglide and then snuggle slide? does the velocity from the superglide carry over to the theoretical 400 speed from the gondolas?

Tap jumping also works on storm point. I was playing on Xbox and did this. I did it at launch pad where the zip lines are. I was confused at first.
I actually switched to gx a few days before this because I saw someone talk about it in twitch chat and its pretty sick, moving over was super easy too

The infinite climb thing is clearly not intended. I’m surprised you didn’t say “Respawn, please fix” because it’s an exploit only accessible to a small minority of players.

what if I told you that almost all the movement tech such as tap-strafing, moving while looting, super glides, jitter aiming etc. was never intended and would thus be considering "exploiting"? 🤔 only difference is that Respawn can't correct these things without breaking the game, so they allow it. (or at least we assume they allow it, but we really don't know cuz Respawn never talks about it, and instead just randomly ban certain exploits they don't like lol)
@@cjxd Those techs became synonymous with the game and Respawn hasn't had any other option but to accept them as part of the game because they can't fix them despite still being adamant about removing them (in case you didn't know they still aren't happy with these exploits). Infinite wallclimb though? Def not going to become synonymous with the game, and def not going to be healthy for it either when like only 10% of the playerbase (especially in higher ranks) can abuse the hell out of it for having a better PC. At least tap strafing is something everyone on PC can do, and in case you didn't know, you can also do it on controller, but people won't change the way they play to do it there.
@@RemedieX yup, i understand and agree with basically everything you just said. i just wish Respawn wasn't so scared to talk about these things, but instead they randomly ban people for things that no one even knows if it's illegal or allowed. look at this season, all these pros are Ash TPing into the armories, clearly not intended. should they get banned? - i dont think so, but still begs the question of Respawn's logic and reasoning. Respawn made a great game at launch, but now they're just simply inconsistent, incompetent in their methods, and scared of communication imo

Hey, can you do how many sounds can you do for someone not too not hear a gibby ult or someone getting a res? Apparently if its enough noise(grenades, Valk missiles, heat shield, Etc.) Some sounds get overridden
there's a spot in the firing range where u can initiate the infinite wall climb without a corner nearby although very inconsistent. I don't think it's limited to only corners.

the geo jumping looks like octane was about to grab onto the wall/tree but felt like he didn't, so is it somewhat related to a wall jump? cause the angle at which he jumps off, looks a little bit similar... or i'm just thinking a bit too much xD
the geo jump in the clip kinda looks like he wall runs then insta jumps. The geo pushing him outwards could be giving the boost, but it could also be the geo pushes him into a false climb and it acts like a wall bounce, bc in the clips it only happens next to a wall.

I think the reason the mag jumps work is cause those might be borrowed assets from titanfall, I think that the code is within the window itself, those buildings look very similar to angel city

For the infite climb I found out that you can infinetly climb in the spawn of the orange/red Arena Map ( the ones that's shown with the geojump) with rev just climbing behind the banners

Mag jumping might be something left over that they were going to add to the game like if you stand close to a window you jump higher then they just added climb but forgot to turn it off on that one window lol
A note on window magnetism: if you try to climb the edge of the "window" into the shaft you will be magnetically pulled into the shaft, so I think your theory is correct. It feels like the walls there are slippery.
I definitely think the window magnetism is in there I've gone through the windows on the trucks on world's edge but can't mantle through them

I think the window sucking thing is right. If you try to wall climb on the buildings next to the ziplines, on the face where the entrance to the ziplines are, sometimes it will not wallclimb and push you into the zipline shaft instead.
the infinite climb is difficult with lower frames but still possible, I've done it with 165
i couldn't get it very consistently though
Have you noticed the glitch where you can't grab ledges after an armoury yet? I think it might be to do with jump pad you use to get out
Could you tap jump using neo strafes?
could have something to do with imported assets from titanfall. The houses on KC and some of the ones on WE look imported straight from titanfall. And if it looks like its from titanfall, it probably has some jank to them.
I only get about 90 fps max so probably can't do the infinite wall climb would be cool though if there could be a way to do it on any fps

idk if this is new but u can go super far by looking up and scroll wheeling jump, 2 momentum bursts off one zip. kind of like a super jump but forwards
