Want to help get others into The Strange? Or maybe you're curious yourself to see what the game's all about? Bruce, Monte, Shanna, and Jen Page take you through all the basics in our new video! Check it out and spread the word!
I ran across this game about a year ago and have completely geeked out about it. I'm running an online PBP game, in which they just translated to Ruk. I just finished running a one-shot (Mastodon) for a group of friends with history in D&D and Pathfinder, and they absolutely loved the feel of it, the genre-hopping, the ease of the rules. I just went back to rewatch the video as I know Bruce and Monte did interjections about "OK this is how the rules work" as things came up, and wanted to see how best to integrate them into my games. I've got one more arc of my Pathfinder campaign and then I think our group is sold on playing some of this. I've pretty much devoured everything for The Strange. Such a great idea, and the rule system is sleek.
I am blown away by this game...i am running this for my group and we are having a blast! The game also really works well when playing online as the GM does not have to roll and since you only roll a D20 you don't need complicated dice rollers that take time to set up...Now where did I leave that Cypher?
Fantastic video! Just picked up Numenera (finally) and will be picking up The Strange as soon as possible as well. Both of your how-to-play videos are excellent! I've got to say, though, that I would love to see the crew play a full game! Such good energy from everyone in these videos!
During the game, Shanna deals with a security guard who surprises the team's 2 AM pawn shop investigation. How should Shanna react? Vote here! plus.google.com/u/0/+BruceRCordell/posts/TpQBVNHB8WR
The game is really interesting, but I have one question, something that I didn't really get or not sure. When the players jumped into another dimension, how is the change of the focus decided ? Total random ? Player choice ? Or is there some logical continuity from one to another ?
Wait... waaaaait a second. (*looks closer*) (*checks player names*) ...wasn't Jen Page in that 'The First Paladin' D&D series/podcast/thing a few years back?

Another awesome video! Thanks for making these; they'll be so great for new players and GMs.
I totally ship Jen Page and Monte Cook.

Not sure, but she was Luster [Female] in The Gamers: Dorkness Rising.
Just heard of this but it’s something my friends have been wanting to play but with not to much luck cause I play with people of INT scores of 1
With the encouragement, it costs one point, but if they have an edge, does that mean no need to spend the point?
exactly. low level spells can be executed freely, while allowing to cast other spells more often. Its very beautiful.
Hey, she's the mom of Bob Page from Deus Ex 1 right? LOLZ
I think that Jen made her hair to look like elvish ears on purpose.
Btw I find the setting much more interesting than Numenera.
