You can just lay it on a concrete floor the drywall will suck up the moisture from the concrete it will be like a cooked noodle as long as you have quarter inch high flex
And this is where intumescent paints can help. You can easily add 20 minutes to the fire rating of just about anything with a good coat of the paint. Only obstacle is that those don't come in glossy.
We doing for a 1mtr radius curve wall with 13 millimetre sheet... and it had to be a braceline gib...and it has to be... 2 layer on the concave side and the convex side...
yes,1/4 inch WON"T do much,. that is why in part two you will notice I double it up. :) this tutorial is how to bend drywall, if you want to use masonite then do so. it is up to you. :)

Try using masonite 1/8 inch it works perfect and takes only minuutes to do, tthen just skim over and paint

How long was the water allowed to soak in before the sheetrock was ready to use?

Will this cause mold
the drywall drys back out. Give it two weeks before you paint so it can dry back out.
masonite may be legal to wrap a column but is not legal as a fire shield on a wall. think again.
