As someone who works at McDonald's and often prepares and hands out deliver orders I can say that the first 10 seconds is extremely accurate. The exception is this one dude who comes in once a week with these DBZ Capsule Corp hats. He's pretty cool. We always nerd out for a few minutes about DBZ and my co-workers just look at us like we're speaking some Alien language from Star Wars.

@@somecanadiangirl1 ya, there's a good amount of room for mess ups, but from my experience they usually help out the customer alright. I will tell you though at least half of the problems are due to the store/restaurant. Especially with the sealed orders. Bless. :)

DoorDash cocks things up incredibly often, plus their app is always breaking down. During the pandemic I had DD deliver shit to my neighbors, have their stuff given to me, had completely random orders show up at 1 AM beating on my door, had 2 hour delays because their system crashed, etc etc. Not to mention their drivers CANNOT FUCKING READ at a 3rd grade level. I live in a condo complex with a gate code, so I give them the gate code under info in the order. Always tickles me when I get the call 'HURRR what's the gate code' when they're one and a half hours late. At least they are honest enough of a company to give you 70% off when they inevitably fuck everything up, which around here, happens frequently.
As an employee, i can 100% this. We had to stop leaving things available to grab because the ones that cant speak english just grab anything and then blame us when they deliver the wrong food. There really needs to be a test they should take, and i dont just mean driver license. Had 1 backing out of the parking spot take out her whole headlamp on our building. Its scary how people with no iq are allowed to drive in general much less deliver food. Im not saying all of em are like that, just feels like the majority
yep, went to panda express once to grab my food, the person who entered before me tried to grab my food, even though they put a sticker on it for the delivery service, an employee had to step in the way and tell him that, the manager came out and literally banned them over the scene they made...
in Europe it's usually the restaurant staff who are the idiots not the delivery people

As somebody who currently works in a position related to "to-go" food at a restaurant, I can safely say that this does happen. Where I work, drivers are supposed to wait for me or somebody else to give them the correct order, but there are some inpatient drivers that will aggressively grab a random order assuming it's the right one just because it's there. I've had plenty of bad experiences with these rude drivers. There was a time where they made me spill a drink, blamed me for it, and then said that leaving the spill on the floor is dangerous. How I wish freedom of speech was relevant in the service industry.

Maybe it's because I'm a curmudgeon, but having these impatient drivers hanging around the counter has made things uncomfortable for customers eating in the restaurant; they just have a bad energy.
I'm currently working both in a restaurant and as a delivery driver on the side. The reason a lot of drivers are impatient is because they don't get paid hourly, they get paid by the order. So the 10 minutes they are waiting for food or someone to help them is 10 minutes they're not getting paid for. I've seen plenty of rude drivers but from my experience a rude and slow restaurant is much more common than a rude and impatient driver.

@@MightyDantheman all I'm saying is to put yourself in the other person's shoes. Someone has to do the job and delivery sales have become vital to a lot of restaurants since covid. Again shitty restaurant experiences seem to be more common than shitty driver experiences to me, if anyone should change it should be the restaurants.

Some places have door dash integrated into their system, McDonald's for example usually has a separate device that shows door dash orders as they come whereas unaffiliated restaurants such as raising cane's or your local Chinese food joint will require the door dasher to order your food and they get a credit card to cover the charges

The worst thing is drivers cancel the order due to excessive wait time, take the food for themselves and the next driver shows up to find out the order has already been taken and the resturant won't make it again and it is a continued cycle until the customer finally gets a refund after the final driver finally calls customer support instead of canceling themselves.
