I love how he blends in, no attitude or fancy style like most U.S. Americans going to Africa, bro looking like a young bob marley hanging out with his friends. Much love.

I'm a white, 50+ dude in a completely different world. But what I get from Kendrick is processing. He is always processing, assessing his reality.
I just got home from my therapy session earlier today, and while what I have to process is different, hearing Kendrick process inspires me to look inward in the same way, to assess what my perception is versus how things really are (as a Buddhist friend keeps insisting I do). And because when I view Kendrick as processing, I also avoid dumping my expectations on to him, for what he should be and who and how he should should represent. Instead, I hear his dialogue, his struggle, his confessions, his pride, and his love.
I tell people sometimes how much Kendrick means to me, but I don't think people understand. At least for me, I started listening to Kendrick BEFORE I recognized my anxiety. His processing is a HUGE part of where I am now. It's a journey, and while we are on completely different paths in completely different worlds, I feel like I am on that journey with him. When the new album dropped, it wasn't that I wanted to hear the next great album. I wanted to check in on Kendrick, see where he is at and compare notes.
I really appreciated seeing him at peace in Ghana.
When I started to go back to Ghana again I would speak to the young guys about things they want to do and aspirations and I realise how westernised I’d become. Because all they think about is each other and all we think about is our personal ambitions.
I originally thought they weren’t motivated until I realised they were just not self obsessed. So I try to not bring anything too westernised and just respect the culture. Ghana is perfect to me. And the people are even better.
Personal ambition is a gift from god. You're blessed
@@gickygackers 'personal' relates to self not God thus not a gift from Him but a choice one has made for ones 'self' from the gift which is 'freewill'. the ability to choose one's action and thoughts. don't conflate things you don't understand. we all here to share love and do God's will not our personal ambitions.
@@gickygackers No you don't get how much our individualistic western culture makes our lives so much less fullfiling.
@@JD-ny3vz sounds like someone forgot to count your blessings! You just say "western" culture because it's a buzzword. I love it when people go in search of their roots to learn, understand, and find new things rather than just reading about it on social media or listening to common beliefs. Even learning a language can give great insight into where you came from and who you are.
I have so many American students who wish to learn Norwegian just to connect to the roots they thought were long lost. Some of them even went to Norway and met with their family who had relatives that were part of one of the biggest immigration groups in the early days of the US.
@reed Jack More resources to learn about the Vikings and other historical eras in Scandinavian languages just make it more enjoyable to learn. I doubt anyone is planning to go on a voyage to pillage the brits anytime soon.
@reed Jack The ones I teach to still practice Norwegian traditions, go to Norwegian universities founded by Norwegians, usually in Iowa or Minnesota and are able to trace back to their families in Norway. That's the reason they wish to learn the language, so they can move there without being disabled by a language barrier. It's just easier to learn it from a native speaker than it is to learn it from someone who learned it at a grown age in the US.
Despite all that, it's true that many people want to learn more, and often glorify them cause Vikings are universally considered cool despite what they did. I taught an Ecuadorian girl who said she wished the Vikings would colonize them instead of the Spaniards but I don't know about that lol.
I love the sound editing in this mini Doc. It's awesome to hear Kendrick talk about the new album and his experience in Ghana. Need more of this
Man this album came out about the same time my grandma pass away. This shit has been helping me heal a lil bit and keep my mind off it. Thanks Kendrick nothing but positive energy my G.
Yo brother, I've had the same situation. I had to fly all the way to Korea to meet him for the last time, it was also during my final exams, so atm I'm retaking them all.. This album was a great distraction from everything that has happened and I'm sure it was for you too. It still is for me. Put things in perspective.
🙏🏾
Sorry for your loss bro. I'm sure her spirit is smiling down on you
Aye peace big homie...grandma is with you always. Stay up! 👊🏿
My condolences to you bro. He released around the time my dad passed from Leukemia, but know whatever loved ones that have gone home left us with beautiful memories until it’s our time to join them.
“This is my most PRESENT.”
Meaning he’s coming to a place of acute self-awareness of himself. His human condition. Expressing his experiences in an almost “observer” standpoint.
Beautiful and I’m grateful for Kendrick becoming aware himself. 🙏🏽✨
Spot on.
He's sharing Mr Ekhart Tolle with everyone too if they haven't noticed. A bit of Allan Watts would have worked well on this album too.
Remember that now is eternal, it's never anything else regardless of what the ego tells you.
@@hcr32slider you’re absolutely right! I hope those who are curious are willing to look into Tolle’s “pointers”. We need more self-realizations in this existence.
And thank you for that reminder. I’ve been doing what I can in this moment to remember that. It’s difficult when the mind tends to get caught within anything but the now. I know it won’t eventually.
Thank you for you. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
@@xJussBE whether you're there or not, it's nice to be able at the least to be concious of when you're being unconcious which can snap you out of your feelings or thoughts. Not blocking them, just being aware so you can let them float by and let go of them after as ultimately there is nothing to even let go of.
Look into Alan Watts. Takes Ekhart Tolle back another layer.
@@hcr32slider I’ll definitely take another listen to him. I have listened to him before, but I guess I never gravitated towards his talks as much.
I don’t know if you know these other teachers/pointers but Adyashanti, Mooji, and Personal Mastery Quest has been very helpful for me.
@@xJussBE there's something to take from everyone thats for sure. Eckhart can be boring to listen to. It's a tough gig trying to describe and teach a feeling and mindset thats out of the box. Personally it was all of the little epiphanies and realisations that helped me out of the mental prison.

Some of the best cinema to touch the silver screen has come out in the last 10-20 years.
We live in a goated era. And I don’t even think I’m being bias. I think about J Cole’s line often, “they act like two legends cannot coexist”. We often spend so much time deciding who #1 is we disregard just the absolute competitive talent we experience on a daily basis.

No way! That board game on that glass is what's played in Colombia too! Parques!
When I lived in Colombia a year it was a huge culture shock like this. Helped me change my views early on as a kid. Then having the privilege (although we were always poor) to move to France, Spain and now UK on my own, it's all been a blessing. Negatives to it too like anything in life. No roots for examples. But it's why now I can't take any view or opinion as the truth. It's all about perspective in life. People grow up differently everywhere and both sides are usually right about any topic. It's a balance.
Edit: I commented this before watching past the first few seconds. He said it himself. Life is about perspective. I swear this album has aligned with my moment in life where I'm maturing and these thoughts I've had are solidifying, establishing, creating new habits to embracing these views. Change. Something we humans seem to hate. Creatures of habit. But we have the ability to defy what it set out for us due to our environment and upbringing. We still can change. And I know I slowly am. I have to. Like Kendrick, I gotta change and grow so my kids do too. My mom took the first step. As a woman in Colombia she left her home at 16 to live in the big city and go to school while working. He worked her ass off all for my dad to ruin her life forever. But then I wouldn't exist if it never happened. From negative things comes positives. It's all perspective. She died of cancer last year and during that last month. Every day, every hour, I was next to her..... I really miss her. All I got is my little brother now. It was us 3, always. Now it's down to 2. We gotta stick together because no one else will.

Life is about over coming challenges. It builds character. It’s how we relate to each other. His rawness in this album made me relate to him so much more. Long live Kendrick ❤
