Blows my mind that the reporter wasn't aware of this world because the hood is never far away even if you live in a nice neighborhood the hood could be 3 miles from were you live the hoods never far
Yes but this is different. The problem is that the high school curriculum does not teach real economically viable skills and owning businesses, factories or labs and no research, instead it is a preparation to pay collage fees.
Public school was originally set up to ready people to work in factories (was a push from the buisness lobby), that's why it's so repetitive. Economically viable skills change every 5 years--thats why this old model of schooling no longer works.
@@GhostlyTeehee at the end of the day, if you pan out and look, they are just making money off the people and leaving the rest to fight for scraps in a wasteland, they have commodified the sharing of Information, research and manufacturing, effectively cutting off black people from being American in substance, while funding bounty hunters and paramilitary police and veterans of war, to hunt and kill kids who are fending for themselves.
@@eastafrika728 the masters tools cannot remove the masters shed. We cannot fall into the trap of believing their way of making money is the way forward for us. Fighting this oppression needs new models of community and economy--which can only be created through critical thinking, empathy, logical deduction, a humanities education, etc. Kids needs skills such as these that prepare kids for an ever changing and uncertain world. These skills aren't present in a STEM focused environment, where the main focus is job training--not human development. A focus on employable skills gets us back to the old issue of public schools churning our factory workers.

Kendrick seems most comfortable in this interview compared to others I've seen him in during and after this point in his career. I imagine it's because he's in his hometown surrounded by friends

@UCAZH4rUm-r7_x9cBl2kGtQA you sound dumb. Kendrick didn't come back to flex on his homies. In this interview he is wearing a white shirt and sweatpants lmao. If you actually listened to Kendrick's songs he talks about how he feels like he dosen't influence his city and he feels like he abandoned them. Compton is Kendrick's home and his new found influence is making his city better. Just listen to the poem at the end of Mortal Man it says the same thing I'm saying
Seeing this interview brings back so much high school nostalgia.
Blows my mind that the reporter wasn't aware of this world because the hood is never far away even if you live in a nice neighborhood the hood could be 3 miles from were you live the hoods never far
Yes but this is different. Depending on the state a hood could be lower income housing, some people doing hard drugs, and the local drug dealer but going from that to multiple killings, drive bys, and a plug on basically every corner is completely different. On one end the people living there know what happens but it's very dl, on the other hand it's brazen and violent. Those are enormous differences.

@@kingjet5123 you act like people pay cash for a house 😂 average house in THE HOOD in California is $380k. Ya'll got it good out there if higher-end options are only $300k. I was listenin to Dot and Drake back when they both first was comin up. Thats highschool time for me. I like Drake and could relate to some personal shit he said but I related to Dot way more cause he went through way more than just heart breaks and not being accepted. He went through that, gangs, dysfunction, family curses, being torn between good and bad , being at a crossroads etc etc. people act like Dot says overly intelligent shit but he really tells hood stories in a way similar to pac but with the more lyrical style of biggie or wayne.
@@donnyouttheway4091 couldn’t have said it better both are great artist from completely different background and styles. my thing is y’all are judging these gang members and not realizing that some people did not choose this but was raised into this. children can be raised into gang violence, gang mentality, poverty. a “gang” could be one’s normal, “the hood” can be all someone knows. for some it’s a choice for some they born into it you can’t call Kendrick a hypocrite he reps where he’s from he can preach positivity around these thugs and gang members because that’s what they need personally in THERE life. it don’t matter if they working or not so it’s weird to see y’all calling him a hypocrite and talking shit about his friends. it don’t matter what life they lead and how they leaving they deserve better and great things and please refer to these men as people and not “gangsters” they may look like em but these are young men. human beings. Kendrick friends. have some respect

Kendrick is the kind of success story that encourages me as a underground artist with a small following. Seeing how he’s developed his skills and slowly blown up after seizing each and every opportunity he’s been giving has been inspirational! I know if I put in the work, I can reach a larger audience some day too, but for now, I’m happy being a supporter. My turn will come too. Salute to Kendrick🔥

Why do I feel like you post this comment everywhere🤔
You ve clean mind and a pure thoughts with that type of mentality there's no limit to where you can go..so what's ur artist name?????
@kenna I’m a signed guitarist. I’ve done everything from metal-jazz-blues-hip hop- and of course rock and roll. But I’ll tell you this some people got it and some don’t. I see that hunger in you through your words. When you won’t take no for an answer, when you want this music thing more than you want to breathe, and the key thing is when you find out who you are as an artist and are able to translate that into some incredible music that transcends a place or a time or a trend that’s when you gonna pop off in the way you’ve been dreaming about since you was a kid. If there’s anything I can do to help lmk. If you wouldn’t mind dropping off a link I’d sure like to listen to any recordings you got right now. Regardless cheers my guy

The problem is that the high school curriculum does not teach real economically viable skills and owning businesses, factories or labs and no research, instead it is a preparation to pay collage fees.
so deep incredible
