the day Govee comes out with something that directly picks colors off an hdmi signal Phillips is in trouble. These are a great alternative to the Corsair LT100s
@@matthewungar2138 Although I do have one of the Govee cameras, I'm not the biggest fan of seeing the actual camera sticking out, so an HDMI sync box like Phillips would be an instant buy for me so I can have everything be 100% Govee :D Right now it's the only thing I still prefer Phillips to do.
Nah Govee is a different type of market - namely those that don’t want to pay for premium products. I’ve owned several Govee products and they are not at the same level of functionality or quality as Hue.
Nice video. Love Govee Immersion on my Tele. Folks looking for the Speakers - seems they are the Sanyun SW208 3" Active Bluetooth 5 Bookshelf Speakers.
I wonder how secure the camera is? Im not really worried about the govee camera on my TV but a lot more personal info could be seen on a computer. I know some wifi products have had issues like this but non of them have a cameras made to point at your computer screen.
Worth noting that Govee updated a lot of their app controls, and the color matching issues can be easily synced better by carefully adjusting the red/blue balance and the saturation. I think these are worth the investment, as they’ve been updating their products to function better left and right lately.
It's still a very wonky solution. I can play around and get it right for when there is daylight, but then I want to watch a movie at night with almost no ambient light and I have to go and play around with the settings again... till the next day, when I want to use them before the sun has set. It's a never ending and annoying cycle. They need to find a way to automatically compensate for the ambient light.
@@XLR8bg easiest solution is to be able to create presets that you can easily switch depending on your current ambient light. More sophisticated solution would be allowing govee app to access phone camera to view the ambient light around your room and calibrate based on input from your phone camera
It really baffles me how this is not just built in to a number of gaming monitors. No weird cameras, no software, just RGB values sent from the display to the LEDs. Done.
I Recently ordered the govee light strips and the wall mounted light things they are excellent i didn't get Philips because of price unfortunately and didn't expect anything crazy but i was surprised to see excellent illumination quality. and lack of hardware heat generation. if anyone was shopping and wanted a little review
Philips quality is much higher. You get what you pay for. I stopped buying Govee after having so many issues. My Hue items have all worked flawlessly with zero issues.
I have so many Govee products, but after having LIFX bulbs and Phillips Hue I am now aware why Govee is so much cheaper--the color representation is quite limited. However, I am extremely disappointed in the third party integration with APIs being severely limited. This product seems nice, but unless Govee steps up I can't support them right now.
Mahn, govee products are real nice but unfortunately they aren't available in India. A whole new market awaits them if they can launch their products here.
for a monitor you dont need de phillips hue box, just the light bars, you can make de lights effect with the phillips app in the pc and the light accuracy have no comparison also the response time its great. Govee inmersion its great but for tvs, there is where you keep some money in the pocket. just what i think.
Great content as usual. What camera and settings are you guys using? I get horrible banding/flicker when filming with Philips Hue RGB bulbs. I use Sony cameras at 24p (1/50 shutter) and 30p (1/60). I wonder if Govee products are just better for filming.
Hey man, I suffered this for years before I realised; you need to go into your cameras menu and switch it from PAL to NTSC, or vice versa any time you get flickering. PAL is 25 frames a second, and NTSC is 30 frames a second. By adjusting between the two you will get away from the refresh rate of the light being incompatible with the refresh rate of your camera, you'll notice your shutter speed options are different numbers when you make the switch. I wasted hours adjusting the shutter speed of my camera and every other setting I could find before finally stumbling on this. Hope it helps! -P
Really? I've been using them exclusively for the last 2 years and nothing has failed me yet. I had random brands and yeelight before and their products stopped working with my wifi after a year. They still work as regular light bulbs but not smart so now I have goovee everything and use one app. What products did you try from govee?
it's a cheap version of the philips hue. does basically the same thing, just not as well. wouldn't really recommend this. if you want to save money just forgo the RGB LEDs altogether.
@@DavidFerreira1986es but the quality you will get is garbage, I’ve bought cheap smart lights before and they tend to break after a year or not work at all, plus these lights change color depending on what’s on screen which not many others have done except for Philips which are expensive
I got one of those for my 55" LG OLED in the living room as I wanted to use the built-in apps and Govee appears to be best at this camera approach... it's still not great. I've been tweaking it for ages and optimised the setup so reflections don't mess up the colours it sees, but even at its best it occasionally gets the colours wrong and the delay is way too long. Even if you don't watch fast action stuff, just the change of a camera in a scene can cause big difference in the background and the lights' delay is very obvious.
@@thegreenone5359Bro has never heard of "recommendations". Are you slow by any chance? Rarely do we search through a channel for the videos we actually click on.
The govee stuff looks excellent and high quality. However, the reason I won't buy this is because of that daft camera that has to hang odd the front of the TV or monitor. It looks crap. For that reason I'll have to take the phillips hue instead
While the showcased product is impressive, it lacks versatility compared to my Philips Hue products. I can use my Hue products on both my TV and gaming monitor without the need for an unsightly camera. Additionally, the Hue products require only one cable (the power cable) to turn on. This is not to hate on the creator; they did a great job showcasing the product.
I still don't understand how Govee can be better and cheaper than other companies. There is no other company that gives you good RGBIC LED-Stuff (At least to my knowledge) Its unbelievable

I love govee product but their camera system as to go. When they do, ill think about changing. Philips still offer a better product if we dont take cost in the equation. You can do a raspberry pi setup by having your dp port to your screen and hdmi to you pi run in duplicate
Dumb question, will this act as a new "hub" for DreamView? I currently am using the older immerison light bars for my monitor, with other lights sync'd to that and would love to replace the actual monitor kit with this. However, I do not want to lose out on being able to sync the immersion with my glide or led lights around my room.
Looks pretty cool, but I don't want to stick a camara on top of my monitor.. Maybe when they develop something without that, I would give it a try! And the hue calculation at the end is ridiculous :D You don't need all of that! I paid like 100€ for 2 play bars with a bridge and it looks good enough for me.
I got the kit but entirely ditched the camera. Running everything through a USB hub directly into my PC and paired it with SignalRGB. Much more cohesive experience and way better audio reactivity while being significantly more plug and play with specific game integrated effects as well.
Exactly what I am considering doing. For all it's quirks and bugs, SignalRGB is pretty damned awesome once you get used to it and learn how to work with the layouts.
The one thing about Govee I don’t like is 1. that it’s not 5gh so You’ll have to split your bands in order to connect and 2. I wish they’ll make an actual Smart hub that’ll talk to all Govee devices via Wi-Fi, Z-wave, Zigbee etc. so we don’t need to have so many wires. Just one for power

I agree, although cost and ease of use is definitely a major factor to consider when it comes to the target audience. It's just something you have to way up as user and decide which system is best for you 👍
There are a few reasons. I went with Govee for my TV because Phillips ONLY works with an HDMI source, and I want the light to work with everything without me having to change my HDMI ports or have a switcher. Also, I love the built in apps on my LG (like Netflix and Disney+) and want the lights to work when using the apps rather than having to turn on my ps5 or xbox.
