the day Govee comes out with something that directly picks colors off an hdmi signal Phillips is in trouble. These are a great alternative to the Corsair LT100s
@@matthewungar2138 Although I do have one of the Govee cameras, I'm not the biggest fan of seeing the actual camera sticking out, so an HDMI sync box like Phillips would be an instant buy for me so I can have everything be 100% Govee :D Right now it's the only thing I still prefer Phillips to do.
Nah Govee is a different type of market - namely those that don’t want to pay for premium products. I’ve owned several Govee products and they are not at the same level of functionality or quality as Hue.
@@DavidFerreira1986es but the quality you will get is garbage, I’ve bought cheap smart lights before and they tend to break after a year or not work at all, plus these lights change color depending on what’s on screen which not many others have done except for Philips which are expensive
I got one of those for my 55" LG OLED in the living room as I wanted to use the built-in apps and Govee appears to be best at this camera approach... it's still not great. I've been tweaking it for ages and optimised the setup so reflections don't mess up the colours it sees, but even at its best it occasionally gets the colours wrong and the delay is way too long. Even if you don't watch fast action stuff, just the change of a camera in a scene can cause big difference in the background and the lights' delay is very obvious.
I bought a 5m RGBIC strip for my desk and a simple TV strip from Govee and I really like the quality of them and the app. You are right, the app is the perfect blend of plug-and-play with advanced settings. I will definitely be checking out this product from them. Super underrated in the RGB LED space.
I think if they included Light bars with an adjustable stand so that you could get them in line with the centre of the sides of the screen then you would get a better overall effect .
Nice video. Love Govee Immersion on my Tele. Folks looking for the Speakers - seems they are the Sanyun SW208 3" Active Bluetooth 5 Bookshelf Speakers.
I have the Corsair RGB kit, which consists of 4 strips, 2 long, 2 short....they're made of a thick rubbery material, and they're naturally bendy... and they retain a natural bend (they're not straight, in other words). This makes "mounting" them using the provided adhesive+hook solution is just terrible. It's a shame because they work with iCue software, so they can react to colours on screen, or system temperatures, or anything you like really.... they carry a premium price tag ... this is all to say, they're just in a corner of a rooom not being used because they aren't especially bright, and they fall of the back of the monitor with the slightest move. I'm gonna go ahead and order this Govee kit now.... give it a try for 30 days, but judging by this video, just wow! These look great. Just a shame they won't respond to on-screen colours, but that's probably asking a lot - they'd need software and drivers etc.. which is a whole other thing I Guess.
My mistake, turns out these do in fact respond to on-screen colours.... fantastic! Hell I might just stick the Corsair led strips to the side of the Govee stands for next level lighting 😂 If only LED strip lights could interface with these; they're so bright, even in a lit room, and obscenely cheap - they'd be the best ambient lighting tbh!
Hope you guys enjoy this one! It launches on 9th May, so there's a pre launch link below, we'll update it with purchase links when it officially drops! RRP is $179, but look out for the launch day discount! bit.ly/3v6SjOt
I got the kit but entirely ditched the camera. Running everything through a USB hub directly into my PC and paired it with SignalRGB. Much more cohesive experience and way better audio reactivity while being significantly more plug and play with specific game integrated effects as well.
Exactly what I am considering doing. For all it's quirks and bugs, SignalRGB is pretty damned awesome once you get used to it and learn how to work with the layouts.
I still don't understand how Govee can be better and cheaper than other companies. There is no other company that gives you good RGBIC LED-Stuff (At least to my knowledge) Its unbelievable
Worth noting that Govee updated a lot of their app controls, and the color matching issues can be easily synced better by carefully adjusting the red/blue balance and the saturation. I think these are worth the investment, as they’ve been updating their products to function better left and right lately.
It's still a very wonky solution. I can play around and get it right for when there is daylight, but then I want to watch a movie at night with almost no ambient light and I have to go and play around with the settings again... till the next day, when I want to use them before the sun has set. It's a never ending and annoying cycle. They need to find a way to automatically compensate for the ambient light.
@@XLR8bg easiest solution is to be able to create presets that you can easily switch depending on your current ambient light. More sophisticated solution would be allowing govee app to access phone camera to view the ambient light around your room and calibrate based on input from your phone camera
I wonder how secure the camera is? Im not really worried about the govee camera on my TV but a lot more personal info could be seen on a computer. I know some wifi products have had issues like this but non of them have a cameras made to point at your computer screen.
I love govee product but their camera system as to go. When they do, ill think about changing. Philips still offer a better product if we dont take cost in the equation. You can do a raspberry pi setup by having your dp port to your screen and hdmi to you pi run in duplicate
Hue lights are better in quality though and much easier to set up so yeah i will stay with them!On the other hand i loved your presentation, on point and with a great voice! well done!
The one thing about Govee I don’t like is 1. that it’s not 5gh so You’ll have to split your bands in order to connect and 2. I wish they’ll make an actual Smart hub that’ll talk to all Govee devices via Wi-Fi, Z-wave, Zigbee etc. so we don’t need to have so many wires. Just one for power
Hlo tech tesseract please tell me the exact name of the colour of the wall behind this Alienware + govee G1 pro setup. please I am requesting you very much🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I Recently ordered the govee light strips and the wall mounted light things they are excellent i didn't get Philips because of price unfortunately and didn't expect anything crazy but i was surprised to see excellent illumination quality. and lack of hardware heat generation. if anyone was shopping and wanted a little review
It really baffles me how this is not just built in to a number of gaming monitors. No weird cameras, no software, just RGB values sent from the display to the LEDs. Done.
I have so many Govee products, but after having LIFX bulbs and Phillips Hue I am now aware why Govee is so much cheaper--the color representation is quite limited. However, I am extremely disappointed in the third party integration with APIs being severely limited. This product seems nice, but unless Govee steps up I can't support them right now.
I congratulate you on your video. Excellent presentation and very well explained, I have a question regarding your monitor? Is it flat or curved? I have a 34-inch curved Samsung and I would like to know if I can use the light bars without any problem. Thank you
Dumb question, will this act as a new "hub" for DreamView? I currently am using the older immerison light bars for my monitor, with other lights sync'd to that and would love to replace the actual monitor kit with this. However, I do not want to lose out on being able to sync the immersion with my glide or led lights around my room.
I already have the tv immersion kit set up with the camera and everything why not just an adapter for my control box to plug in these lights to my existing unit/set up
Mahn, govee products are real nice but unfortunately they aren't available in India. A whole new market awaits them if they can launch their products here.
Looks like a great product but I have to agree with you there are certain scenarios that it seems to be confused as to what color to display. Other than that everything else seems to function very well.
Is this just for computer monitors or do they have a version that works with big screen TVs? Will this work with ultrawide monitors? They need to make a version that fits larger screens. The other problem with using this on a PC is that this camera is in the spot where my webcam now sits.
Can you PLEASE do a step by step water cooled build in the Y60 I want that exact build, but I’ve never done water cooled. I’m kind of scared so, I really need your help here 😅
The only thing I don't get is why no company has come out with a product like this that can sync up an extended lighting experience through just software. I love these things, but I can't get past the addition of even more wires to my setup and the eyesore of a dongle pointed at the monitor. If something simply ran as a separate capture software, such as Shadowplay, I think this entire thing could be accomplished without the sensor.
for a monitor you dont need de phillips hue box, just the light bars, you can make de lights effect with the phillips app in the pc and the light accuracy have no comparison also the response time its great. Govee inmersion its great but for tvs, there is where you keep some money in the pocket. just what i think.
