    I had to stop the video right after you showed the Ugmonk magnetic shelf and it's accessories to write this comment because I just have to say I am BEYOND relieved to the point of being almost in tears that this exists because "exhaustingly obsessive" is the perfect way to describe someone like me who is extremely ocd about my temporary space on my dining table that I have to re-organize and setup everyday before I get started on work. I absolutely can't wait to buy this for my future permanent desk setup as I've been passively giving it thought and I saved your recent desk setup video as inspo since I share your minimalistic aesthetic and now this is one less thing I have to think about because I KNOW I will be buying this - THANK YOU SO MUCH DANIEL 😊

    Lovely changes, indeed!
    However, there are a couple of things I would have done differently:
    1.- Use a tan fake leather deskmat instead of a grey one to add some warmth to the desktop.
    2.- Use some wood box or something like that so the PC doesn't lay on the floor, or worse, on the carpet (too much dust potentially getting inside the case is bad for the components)
    3.- Roller-blade casters for the chair are great to use on rugs and look better.
    For the rest, great video!

    Hi Daniel. For future desk setup makeover instead of using velcro ties, better alternatives to tidy up the cables from PC case are:
    - plastic spiral cable wraps, they usually come in black or semi-transparent white
    - braided nylon cable wrap, comes in various sizes & colors

      @@shawnkan7157 I guess it is just a matter of taste. But you’re right for the modern and the rustic vibe within it. The truth is that it is good and cool to have both options that could fit for some people and the other option for other people.

    • @samaelhenry
      @samaelhenry 9 місяців тому

      @@shawnkan7157 you point it bro. I’m much more of a minimalist modern type than a rustic down-to-earth type of person. Both are cool and correct but it is cool to have option to satisfy one’s taste. And if you point out that a minimalist person didn’t have to have a desk shelf at all to begin with, you would be right, but I also think that comfort could be added even if I tend to have lesser items. Having the possibility to rise a little bit the screen and have some room to organize anything could be so much easier. And if the design could match, what would be the reason to resist? 😉

    This is a really cool transformation, well done. There are a few things that I can give you some tips on however. 1. The monitor on the right side should be flippped so that that bezel between the two monitors is as small as possible. This also allows the user to adjust the monitors settings if needed without having to sandwich their fingers between the two monitors. 2. The headphones actually wouldn't looked better if they were still under the desk rather than on top. Ergonomically I think it would also be easier to get the headphoens from underneath the desk than to reach over the whole desk to pick them up off of an elevated surface. I also think that the inclusion looks a little bit forced and the space could've been used for a picture frame as I noticed there were some pictures that were taken off of the wall that were there initally. 3. I would've moved the entire setup to the right so tha tthe PC would be infront of the power outlet to hide the extra cable. 4. The velcro tied cables running to the back of the PC would look neater in a big cable sleeve. I would also consider velcro taping the power strip to the under side of the desk to make this looks cleaner.
    Just some thoughts :)

    My difficulty with cable management is that the cables for different devices are all different lengths, and it gets even more complicated when you have a sit/stand desk that's lifting your gear higher. How do you work around this?

  • @writerinfact1768
    @writerinfact1768 9 місяців тому

    Personally, I would have started with a gallon of paint in any color whatsoever. Since it's a rental, though, I could probably live with tacking up lengths of fabric as though it were wallpaper (or something like that - anything for color). Strictly speaking, white is less a color than it is the presence of ALL colors in the same way that black is the ABSENCE of color. Yes, the jute rug was a great place to start. I'm all in with the concept of wrapping the cables together, but the mere thought of unplugging all of them to do so terrifies me, so that one isn't on the schedule for this weekend. Never mind that I added masking tape labels to every electric cord at the plug end. Sometimes after a couple years, it stops being sticky. Maybe I'll ease into it by just doing 1 power strip at a time.
    "After" is a huge improvement on "Before" - mostly, I think, this demonstrates a different perspective that I, at least, don't have. I could not have put together those few changes; it would not have occurred to me to even look at such things as light bars!

    i like how you didnt spend like 1000 dollars on just philips rgb lights and grovemade stuff like many others and took an approach that is achievable by most people

    I like this transformation but theres two things throwing me off, first and most important is the PC being on the floor. When the PC is on the floor itll get dusty a lot quicker which can slow it down and make it look ugly, second is the monitors arent centered with the monitor riser shelf.

    Very interesting improvement. However, I would never tie a gaming mouse cable to anything other than a "bungee" accessory :)

    why not cable manage the pc wires in a white sleeve so it blends more into the wall, or buy a cart from amazon for the pc to sit on so dust doesn't creep into the pc not ideal. and a light grey wool mousepad would feel more cozy and less sterile than the cheaper mousepad but it would blow the budget out. yet more premium desk accessories last and feel better for longer

    It would've been drastically better if u had used a sleeve to cover those cables in one thick looking cable
