I've played gibsons and fenders forever. Recently got my hands on a Reverend Bob Balch and I'm in love with it. Great quality, playability, and sound. Hoping to pick up another Reverend soon. Thanks for the review.
To each their own, but think the prettiest feature on the shape of a Les Paul, that perfect upper bout with the toggle in the centre, has been replaced by a big slabby Tele upper bout. I’m not too keen on that. But we can both be happy, me with my Gibson, and there is now a Reverend for you.
Don’t think you can come at it from a “better than a gold top?” Aspect. Gold tops encompassed a lot of changes. Personally, when I think “goldtop”, I think of the earlier P90 Gibson, so, I’d have to say, no, this doesn’t beat one of those…
Reverend is building some really nice guitars, they all have their very own unique touch. Great tones, gorgeous looking. Love the Gristlemaster but that's far above my price limit.
I could see me playing that.. not giving up on Reverend, just haven’t found my fit. Owned the Double Agent OG but never fell in love with it. I would prefer a wraparound bridge though.
Looks nice. I like the belly cut, the light weight, the offset shape and the bass contour. Aesthetically, the three knobs would be better if they didn't make a straight line. I'd move the middle one down a bit, so the imaginary line joining them curved around, towards the switch. Also the fretboard looks rather pale, even though the specs say it's rosewood. Where is this guitar made?
@@iancclark1 I think you've misunderstood my post. Disregarding the switch, the three knobs look to me like they _are_ in a straight line, and this jars with the overall curvy aesthetic of the guitar. Move the middle one down slightly and it'll look better. I see what you mean about following the carve though: that too is straight where the knobs are fitted, so I'd not only reposition the middle knob, I'd also adjust the carve to suit.
@@sassycat Thank you. I have several South Korean Crafter guitars, and have always been impressed by that country's instruments (Peerless, Squier etc). I'm glad they're not Chinese.
Ha, need a guest as Reverend make very few LH models - - I bought an Agent OG a year and a half ago and wish the Roadhouse was available in LH. All their offshore guitars are CNC so they really need to support us lefties better! I had to yank the HA5 and replace with a Duncan JB as I found it to be very thin and strident personally.
Love the carve. The colour? Not so much. Comes off on my tv like a dijon mustard that doesn't emphasize the carve with a little flame. Ben plays great, tho, doesn't he?
Shane loving the Reverend Gold top but it's kinda different shape like a off set body. which is nice, sounds great too. Speaking of different, just quite put my finger on it but have you grown a Moe? Mate just put my glasses on, hilarious misunderstanding, should have gone to spec savers😂😂😂

The three knobs and the selector switch aren't in a straight line, they perfectly follow the top contour of the carve.

I have a Reverend Contender HB (It's a flat top LP style) Love it. This is pretty awesome too, but I've already got a carved top LP style guitar.
