The most real fighting philosophy on UA-cam. The man knows what he is talking about. I see so many videos of instructors showing all kinds of fancy techniques but the "opponent" they are doing it on is stationary. No one in the streets fights like that. The element of surprise or better known as the "sucker" punch wins most of the time. I've seen it on the streets of New Jersey many times. Keep these videos coming sir!
It's complicated to put all this together. We learn fighting arts, then we have to focus, on placing what we learned into situations that won't allow us to go into a fighting stance, and perform what we learned. Instead, we have to take pieces of what we learned, and execute a self-defense move. It's like we go through school (Martial-arts training), then we go to college ( Professor James) and what we learned in school, we build on that to prepare for a career. It really is complicated. Thank you Professor James, it's a amazing training video.
That's what I always tell my students that jabs are very, very, very hard to block. We don'l block in my martial arts, we cover. Covering is one step ahead, while blocking is one step behind. Pro-active vs, Re-active. Win without fighting is the highest form of martial art. Sun Tzu, The Art of War.
Hey!! PAY ATTENTION!! The level of comprehension these two masters put forth is second to NONE!! These two gentlemen truly epitomize what true martial artists should be. Comprising a thorough understanding of not just techniques, but mindset and methodology of kinesis (body mechanics), which most systems only reveal upon reaching a high level of training typically taking many years. The BEST aspect of the information they put forth is that it can be applied to any system one may be practicing. Not just techniques but concepts and principles which transcend technique. Truly on another level. On the "real" 110%!!! Bravo.
The wisdom the Professor and Kenny are kind enough to share is more valuable than 90% of the junk on tv. How many innocent victims could this knowledge save if only these two had a wider audience. Hey, tv. Execs--Pay Attention !!!
Love this guy! I’m a shodan in goju ryu and he exposes so many flaws in the traditional martial arts. All about evolution…..practicing against other styles of fighting, or no style at all. Self offense IS self defense. Emotional control is a huge part of it. Neither is taught in traditional martial arts. Not pissing on any of them as they all have value. However understanding that fighting is different from self defense is a huge deal. There are no rules. There is no honor. There will always be better fighters than me. It’s seeing a threat before the threat is realized and going hime to your family alive. I don’t want to be a good fighter….too old for that. I just want to be able to deal with a threat before becoming the victim.
I know alot of instructors are insecure and come with difficult ridiculous techniques that wouldn't work. Like my ninjitsu instructor a couple of months ago we went to the out door gun range and the end of the session he said I cheated 😂 but i have been target shooting since age of ten. When he said I cheated he was dead serious 😂. He is some prepper guy that wants to relive his life as a ninja 50 year old guy.
I love this as a 62-year-old woman with a brown belt in Kempo Karate and boxing. I can't stand it when women think they will kick them in the groin. It won't work! Offense and mindset, plus being angry, does. Thanks for all the awareness tips much needed for protection on the streets.
The ones that suck get hit in the face😂😂something to remember....so much packed in these videos THANK YOU... Thought Kenny was gonna get a pass this video. But I see he got some at the end ...Love you guys videos
Always great stuff. Dang! I contacted you via the contact form asking for information re. The "Starter Package" and never got a response. What am I doing wrong here?
Gotta say….this reminds me of a combination of Cobra Kai (strike first) and Kenpo karate (block and strike simultaniously). But it’s true. Every real fight I have been in has been a huge challenge when I waited for them to swing first even tho I knew it was coming. Very different than sparring. Good stuff!
A predator already has a mindset on how everything is going to go his way. But when the prey throws a monkey wrench into his mindset. That's when the predators guard is thrown off for that split second.
Because you gotta prepare for your goal. And what is your goal? But when so aim for your goal. If you don't land on your goal there's a really good chance if you're really focused you will land very close. Long as it's close enough you will not die on the streets
Excellent vid Professor Dave and Shihan Kenny. Really appreciate you both. This is the real deal. Great words and fantastic vid. Thank you both so much. Peace
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall see the face of GOD. Ever wonder why that's in scriptures? Because those who make the peace WILL put themselves in harms way. And, the more it happens, the more chances are, theyll eventually succumb to it's inevitably. They will, in all possibilty, get themselves killed, prematurely. Blessed, are these. Rock n roll to these peacemakers. Humble, to the end. Ready to defend the weak.
your fighting tips are good, but my son turn to next channel the moment he hears your loud angry voice , he said unbalance his sense of peace & well being
What are you doing throwing in your choice of video without showing appreciation to these Two men Professor David James and Shihan Kenneth,, Come on lad, show some respect,😎

I like the loudness and detail and stress on importance of preparation/positions and attitude - it all matters

Thanks for breaking it down. Keeping easy to understand. Great video. God bless .glad we have some one like you and Kenny that are on our side.
I'm almost sick of hearing about situational awareness. This here deals with pre-fight strategy which is equally as important.
