I've been saving pictures and information about Oregon. Hoping to someday take a trip. I started out with the beaches. I had no idea there were so many more incredible places to go. Thank you for sharing your trip. That area is incredibly beautiful. Happy travels to you.

We were there for the first time in April - headed back in a couple of weeks. It can get very windy & hot. Your video is fantastic, nice work!

Thanks very much for the nice comment. I am glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, I have also found that it can be quite windy at Cottonwood Canyon. I have tried to time my visits to avoid really hot weather. Temperature should probably be good this time of the year.

Thanks for the comment. I visited Cottonwood Canyon in the spring, not a good time to go swimming as the water flow is high, air and water temperatures low. So I don't know of any swimming holes in the area. As the John Day River is not dammed, flow decreases greatly during the summer. I expect that there probably are places to swim during the summer, but I don't have any first any information.

the river flows from the Ochocco's, The Stawberry;s from the general area of John Day, the town. not from the Cascades.
