I had a similar encounter to you. I picked up the decanter and 2 glasses, when I reached for the other2 cups a lady reached in front of me, grabbed a glass and said "I wanted that set", (she was not near the shelf when I picked up the first pieces) as she walked away she was laughing. When I got to the check out, I told the cashier what happened. She laughed, reached below the check stand and brought up the 4th glass and said "I wouldn't sell it to the lady, because the tag said 1 of 4 (one price for all 4). The customer got angry and left the store. Some people.
That cashier was HERO!!!! great story, thanks for sharing it, it cheered me up! 🥰
Me too. It's a good thing you said something to the cashier. Now you can walk out of the store laughing.
That pottery set is from Annapolis Pottery.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Glad you won that crazy game
The lady taking one cup...you are more kind than I. I definitely would of shown her that you had the entire set and would she kindly have given you the last cup to keep the set together.
I think that woman did it on purpose....out of spite.....she's the one who lost out. 😄
I would too, I would have been nice, but I would have shown her.
Bet if you told the lady you were buying the set she would have given it up.
@@jeanbrock4086 Right, if you are assertive, you can catch them off guard and they will give it up. I hope Jocelyn knows that we are speaking for us and she did what she felt was right, not criticizing her.
Yes my thought too, maybe take a chance and ask if she'd let it go with its mates. Worst case, she'd say no.
Goodwill should have bundled that into one. And that would be a non-issue.
They really should have been. She had to buy the stopper separate too, which is nuts.
Right!!?! Ugh!
That new cart reminded me of a feeding frenzy with all those grabby hands.
Yes, that was rather rude actually. Some people have no sense and no sense of personal space.
That was crazy!! They were reaching across and in front of our girl, I did not like that!
The feeding frenzie at that cart with the cups gave ME anxiety and I wasn’t even there. Don’t blame you for feeling creepy about it.
Our goodwill has a new policy that you cannot take things off the carts. Of course the had to do this because two people got into a physical fight over something on the fresh cart. Really people 🙄
Was that a worker taking things from the cart to stock the shelf? Possibly.
Why would someone only buy one cup out of a set when they saw someone else getting the rest of the set?!
Right??? Like WTH???
I would not doubt for spite.
@@symptomoftheuniverse4149 so childish right?
I thought the same thing 😕
@@symptomoftheuniverse4149That's exactly what I thought, too. They didn't want to share the fresh cart.
I buy lonely creamers because they can be used as syrup or dressing pitchers.
I buy pretty lonely pitchers to hold Q tips in my bath room's. They look pretty!
Same here! I use them to hold all sorts of things!
I can’t believe you left the Norway candlesticks!
All the Scandinavian pewter people were saying “grab them, grab them,” about the Norwegian pewter candle holders!
Norwegian pewter is usually marked Tinn. Always a good purchase!
Wow I think if I saw someone getting a set of something I would grab a couple pieces to help them get them all. You didn’t run from the cart though, proud of you. When I saw all the hands I thought oh no, she’s going to bail, lol!
Sister!!! You had every right to speak up for that fourth cup!!! How rude of that person!!! I hope she’s really pleased with herself!!! My goodness!!! A couple of them just bulldozed over you like vultures!!! Some people just suck!!! I’m mad for you!!! 😡😡😡
Hi Jocelyn. The yellow creamer is 'Gay Rainbow' by Hazel Atlas and no worries on the sugar..they didn't make them. lol These were done in 4 colors, the yellow and green, blue and red.
I seem to recall the little pitchers were a promo w/ Kix cereal. Does that ring a bell? They do look cute all displayed together in those bright colors :-).
@@stephaniequinn9431 Yep, they were for Kix Cereal in 1939.
She swooped right in and grabbed it! Why would she want just one!
There's a certain sense decorum when peeking into fresh carts.
1st is if someone is clearly interested in a group of items and they were there first, you give them the opportunity to complete the set. I always do that. I just think it can be so rude if someone snatches a piece right in front of another person.
I've never seen you act entitled or obnoxious, Jocelyn.
One of the reasons I really like watching your videos.
That happened to me just the other day with a Pair of candlesticks on a fresh cart, I reached for one, and out of nowhere comes an arm and grabs the other ! Who wants one ??? I waited till she left and put mine back in😂
Wow that grabby cart action was unreal... Seriously, she's taking one cup of a set and ugh, goodwill! Sell sets together!!! You were clearly already there.
The 4th cup was a “B”!! I’m proud of you for staying classy!! ❤
She is officially The Classy Crazy Lamp Lady
I was actually proud of you that you stayed as long as you did with all the people there. You are very persistent and it often pays off…❤️
Wished you would have gotten those 4 glasses from Germany..I would have definitely bought them..
Can't believe the lady at the 1st gw thought she needed just one of the cups..love your videos
I've never been goodwill shopping but if the lady who got the 4th cup saw that you got the other pieces from the set wouldn't she just be willing to let you have the 4th to keep the set together? Are they really that cutthroat?? 😮
@@lattelove5366 I know I was hoping Jocelyn was circling the store or following the lady to see her end up leaving it on a shelf! Too bad
people are petty
Yes unfortunately people are like this. It’s really sad
Oh yes! Just pure meaness!
That basket lamp looked to be homemade to me. The basket looked like authentic Longaberger and if so, it would have been signed on the actual basket bottom under that platform.
Exactly
YIKES!! All those hands reaching into the basket after you were in that space? People do that? You're a saint!
I can t believe just how rude some women are reaching across you and taking stuff out of the cart 😡
Our local Goodwills don't want anyone to touch the fresh carts that they put out, but I did break the rule(something I almost never do) just yesterday because I could see something interesting sitting upside down right on top and I was sure it was something good thanks to you Jocelyn, and it was. It turned out that it is a vintage lucite Palatnik parrot figurine in really good condition. Not sure what I will do with it, not a reseller, and don't think I could afford to become a collector of his works, but it was fun to see it and then later confirm what it was. Thank you for always informing, even when you are just out shopping.
I cannot get over how rude That lady was when she took the cup when she clearly knew you had all the other pieces
The wood Coy fish is one of a pair. It's around the 25 dollar range.
The German goblets are for Reisling wine. Putting them back was a good decision as there was something off looking about them. It's like they were reproductions of the old ones from the 1950s.
You should have a shirt that says "There's a bird on it" with a bird on it.
What a great idea for her merchandise!! I like that!!
She already has "It's got a bird on it" merch🙂
I have been to the Goodwill Outlet and picked up pieces of a fireplace cover and noticed someone else also had pieces for the same item. Even though I had the majority, I still offered them what I had and they gladly accepted.
You could have offered her 1 if your 3 cups so she had at least a pair. Maybe then when she saw what you had in your cart she would have offered to give you the single cup instead so you could have a set of 4 cups. Just a thought.
Personally, I would rather keep a set all together. If I didn’t know any better, I would hope someone would inform me.
Aaaa ...... the German piece (17:22)! I have the mustard pot and salt and pepper, from way back when, passed on to me from my childhood! Imagine my surprise seeing that match! And yes, it's German.
The small yellow ribbed creamer you picked up is by Hazel Atlas ~ It came in Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Clear ~ It is also known as a syrup pitcher and to the best of my knowledge no matching sugar was made in that pattern
I liked the subtle design of the salt glazed vase. Wished you had picked it up.
Joslyn, you should have said to the lady that picked up the 4th green cup “ If you decide you do not want that green cup please let me know as I have the other 3.” I bet she would have given it to you.
I really liked the mushroom plates awesome shopping video.
We’ve all had to deal with those grabby people at sometime or another. Proud of you for just ignoring her. She has to live with her behavior and karma is real. You did good girl!
Are you kidding me,someone took the 4th cup of that set..she must have noticed that you had the set and still she took the 4th cup! Unbelievable, that is so not social.
I adore the mat black plate with the flowers,So cute!😍
CLL your videos are always informative and educational … this video taught patience and kindness shopping at GW … I applaud your work ethic
I would have had no shame in asking the person if she really wanted that lone piece of pottery (cup) and show her that you had the rest of the decanter set. I have done it multiple times for stuff like that and people are usually more than nice and let you have it. What's the worse that could happen, that she says no?
OMG i had one of those “staring cows”!! The year was 1990😂. Does that make it vintage!! Haahaahaa
It was LOUD in that first goodwill and I wouldn’t like the grabbing and snatching at the new cart
You left behind the little owl dishes! Waaaah!
Be smart. Be kind. And pick your battles in life.
YAY! Another Goodwill video. My favorite!! :)
So put the 3 cups and the decanter in your booth and advertise it and maybe she will have to come and buy the rest of the set for herself
I really don’t like crowds around me either, let alone when your trying to work and film!
Love the rabbit plates
Cesar Vasquez is an artist from the 1960s, his stuff goes for good money. the chicken would have been a good pickup.
Love the green glazed cups and decanter! ❤
The German glasses you put back are called roemers and the added little bumps are called prunts. If you look them up using those terms you will see many different versions. I think the ones you put back were souvenirs so I think you made a good call.
Oh my goodness! I have had that exact same cow head from the start of the video! Sold it at a yard sale years ago hahaha
Love the Pier One bunny plates!
I love those plates, they are beautiful.
Loved the video
I’m absolutely obsessed with your videos hooked 😳😳😳
I am always amazed at how fast you scan the shelves and just know what to stop at!
The Mastad Norway pewter candle holders were a great find! A single can sell for $18-$24. MCM.
Did she buy them? I thought she put them back.
@@ninoskae I think you are right. She left them.
Yes I really liked the quality of those they were nice
I love that cabbage bowl
That basket lamp was cool
21:58 green decanter matched the green glasses you put back.
I like those saucers also. It has a nice lip and I would use those for snacks or cake.
ahhh like the dragonfly sock stretchers near 21:
Love the mushrooms plates too.
Might check for the other cup. Who would want one cup?
Today at the Goodwill I saw two flying pigs and thought of Dagney.
I think the yellow creamer is from part of the Hazel Atlas gay rainbow creamers. They came in several colors.
Thanks for your Goodwill trips here to the Frederick area, maybe I will see you one day
I would have asked that lady for the pottery cup : )
On the fast track to somewhere!
My hubby likes the Jim Beam bottles because his dad collected them.
At 23.39, my dad had that Avon stagecoach back in the 70s/80s 😄
The decanter set was made by Annapolis pottery. I had one and it sat forever in my eBay store, finally I ended it and goodwilled it back.
Oh my gosh!! My Mom had that cow, a pig and a duck! I was so sad that in multiple moves she got rid of them. That brought back childhood memories 🥹
You do such a great job. Your knowledge is unreal. Thank you for giving us information. I was telling my husband how smart you were! A self made business women. I have followed and tried to learn from your journeys for about 7 years I think. ❤️❤️😊
Ahh THANK you for explaining the maker of those clear and cobalt blue glasses! I have come across them often and had zero clue who made them!
Disaronno is actually not the maker of the glass, it’s a liquor brand. You would typically get these glasses with a bottle of their amaretto, I believe
I found a little Mastad vase that was a little dinged up but I loved it and sold it for good money-guess it depends on your style
Hello everyone
I think a lot of people feel that way when it's very crowded in places when you don't know them. And don't forget your filming and talking AND trying to find items. That's alot to do and think about.
Odd must be a 1 cup collection! It is good luck to have an odd number of cups sometimes!
It sounds like a huge cafeteria in the last two thrift stores you shopped at, like a bunch of people and their trays clattering as they move around with them. Yaking all the whileLol
I collect the green Bortello cake dish. I died when you picked it up. Why don’t I ever have that kind of luck
Great finds. Never know what you will find. Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day
That was a busy Goodwill day! Lots of noise 😮 but, you did great. The lady taking the fourth cup was ridiculous!
That happened to me once but I circled acknowledge around and found the rest!!
I have 3 of those big fish..2 tan like that one and a pink/ blue one... got on Marketplace for our beach themed salon
Mastad candle holders about $40
The chip on the inside lip of the beautiful celadon vase is ok. It’s hidden by the lid.
The Celedon pottery container appears to have been made in Korea. It was very popular in the Goryeo dynasty and depending on the color and style might fetch quite a bit of money. This appears to be a fermenting pot or storage container, but looks modern.
Modern with a chip. You sell such good merch why by chipped
I would have SO passed you that mug for your collection. I try to always help fellow collectors ❤
The vase that you turned over and it had a sticker that said Val. Actually was the store Value City which has been closed for years. I think the vase was vintage. I know I shopped Value City in the 70's. Not sure when it closed.
I’d take a shot go back to store see if it’s there!
Great finds
I can't believe that lady did not give you that cup
The ornament with a broken leg in the baggie looked like a Patience Brewster ornament.
I think the vase at 1:45 might have been Pilgrim glass. I have it in the cranberry color.
Wish you would go back to Finders Keepers.
I didn’t find much on my last few visits and the things I did find were priced a little high for resale. 😩
The green stemed wine glasses are an iconic artifact. They are called roemer glasses and are German.
Römer, type of wineglass evolved in Germany, especially in the Rhineland, and the Netherlands over several centuries, reaching perfection in the 17th century. The shape of the Römer is a hemisphere superimposed on a cylinder, with a hollow foot built up by coiling threads of molten glass around a conical core. Applied to the characteristic cylindrical trunk (too thick to be called a stem) are pads of glass formed into shallow or pointed spots or raspberry-like knobs. Römers were distinct from the Berkemeyer glasses, which took the form of a funnel-shaped bowl on a cylinder; both have kinship with the German “cabbage stalk” glasses, which were entirely cylindrical and had knobs. Römers are usually coloured in tones of green; many are engraved, including a special class with calligraphic inscriptions, some of which are attributed to the Netherlandish artist Anne Roemers Visscher (c. 1583-1651).
With the decanter you can look at it 2 way ...decanter and 3 cups instead of 4 or a decanter with 2 cups and a spare cup. You should of followed the lady to see if she bought it or put it back on the self
I totally would have given you the 4th cup. I picked up 2 beautiful Arnel Mushroom canisters and when a lady saw them and said how beautiful they were, I offered them to her from my cart. You always said "there's plenty to go around," and I believe it too.
If you see matching pieces being picked up, why would you even want 1 of 5 (counting the decanter)? I don't understand the desire or logic. SMH
The dinner plates of the small plates you picked up, I think were right in front just under the first 2 plates. Pretty sure of it. Watched from Pekin, IL
Hope
She
Finds
U and
Returns it!
I am like that also , alot of people give me anxiety attack. Walk away walk away 😅
Thanks 😊
The lady taking the fourth cup probably thought: “I can put a succulent in that” 😂
