It's really no wonder at all why more and more people are turning towards PC. I've been a console player my whole life, but this current generation has me reassessing my options. All I want to do is play games online, and I don't want all of the excess and fluff that inflates the price. I want bare bones online multiplayer. That's it.
yup its a shame! not a fan of PC myself so I now play on playstation and then buy physical games. so if the company ever stops making console I have some resell value in the collection. and I like building a collection for sure. Thanks for watching
I have a 3 month Game Pass Ultimate card that they won't even let me use. It won't let me apply it to my account because they wan't me to sign up for their recurring subscription through a credit card. I'm done with Xbox.
Microsoft fucked up big time by spending $75 billion on Activision Blizzard....... Theres no way in hell Gamepass was ever going to make that money back anytime soon. I cant see the next Xbox having a disc drive either, and will be going full digital for next gen. I don't think they've had a clear strategy for the last 5 years, it feels like they are making it up as they go.

It is sad the path xbox is going. I stopped buying games for the xbox. I dont even have gamepass anymore. For PS I don't even have PS+ since they increased their price on it to 80 dollars here in the US. I've been playing more on PC although I am similar to you Ben with the stuttering and bad ports on PC. I am sensitive to it. So it pulls me out of the game and get annoyed. Also, with console I have been disappointed with some games being blurry or just too low in image quality to fully enjoy it.

Not only that. They just closed the Xbox 360 digital store. Effectively removing all the content that never made it to backwards compatability. So those games are lost forever now if you didn't already buy them previously.
The convenience of consoles comes at the cost of control over your games. And most people are fine with that cost, they don't want or care if their games last forever and that's fine. The only real way your library can last a lifetime is to use an open platform like PC or Android to remove the DRM. Then since the game is no longer reliant on ANY companies you can make as many physical copies of your games and saves as you want. Taking control for yourself.
The argument over fear of no console to play older games is flawed. We've been doing game preservation since 1992 through emulators. Hell, I prefer emulators vs the real hardware since the current hardware can push the older gen games harder (better frame rates, resolution etc.). I have Mame through Switch emulators running on my Steamdeck.. my steamdeck for example runs Switch games better than the original switch hardware. I've ported most of my switch games to my steamdeck for that reason.
@@Milkiy-Hazard Fair point but Emulators can emulate those too (if needed, and selectively). CRT scan lines, blurs etc.. they even have an option to turn on the jelly 3D models for those PS1 games. I like the crt scanlines but cant stand the jitter so I turn that off.

One word, Steam. Everyone reading this understands that once a human creates a price (such as a game pass price plan) only one thing consistently happens, the price gets raised. Gamers want huge game libraries and deny that their jobs lap up their play time, having access to hundreds of games is pointless and I dare anyone to say it's not true. When the Ferengi (Microsoft) announces their next price hike members will continue to whine.

I been with Xbox since the 360 through the good and bad. I have a bit of different perspective on this because I actually use the features ultimate features. That mid tier although bad is simply used car salesman tactic to push you to ultimate which apparently most GP users are on anyway. I don’t like the price increase it folks are acting as if it’s unjustified suprise and not still a good deal. The other thing that I don’t get is games “going away”. My ps5 doesn’t allow me to play ps1-2 or 3 games while I can natively play OG Xbox games all the way up to current gen games on a series console but there is concern about not being able to play Xbox games on the future? What did I miss here?
@@DPTBassment my concern for the future is the fact that at this rate, there might not be another Xbox soon. The sales are down very bad and they are pushing cloud gaming. So I feel concerned about buying games on a platform that might not exist. But that’s just my opinion! Let me know and put my mind at ease ahaha!
It’s terrible to take away day1 from that tier & to increase yearly gold\core price. Thankfully, because Xbox hardware & reputation is in the gutter , we’ll still get deals on codes + conversion promotions. I’m not paying full price for PsPlus Essential or Core. My biggest gripe beside bad studio management is the garbage idea for proprietary expansion storage. I think with the economy being so bad atm, that the brand+ABK-anchor will implode on itself. They’ve mismanaged this gen’s hardware via skimping on SeriesS ram, too lazy to upgrade their controller like Sony did with dualsense & crap like overpriced proprietary nvme expansion cards. I’m starting to think that Phil just plays games all day & doesn’t care that his underlings may be incompetent. The final elephant in the room is that all their competitors are PEAKING in popularity & sales. They might’ve had a plausible strategy but not for the economy tanking . Could be worse 🤷♀️ 😂
Since getting my steam deck oled and then my legion go I've barely touched my series x, it's really opened my eyes to how much the console market rips you off with online gaming and game prices!
