It may not be the absolute healthiest meal, but it certainly isn’t the worst. They are getting protein, a fresh fruit, and plenty of food to fill them up. She obviously took care and tried to make it taste good for them. That is a lot better than a lot of kids get!
I grew up in the 90's. Everything marketed to kids was actually poison. Sugar, dye, processed Everything, sodium levels that could kill a grown man. We survived on pop tarts, Lunchables and fruit by the foot. This is better than that.
@@Ubotheredthe potatoes were fine. It's difficult to get little kids to eat at day care. I think it's important they eat and this meal tastes good and it was about a 6 for Healthy. Let their parents feed them healthy when home.
@mommadness91 here I thought it was all the carcinogenic ground water we were drinking. In my town nineteen woman on my street I grew up on have the same kind of breast cancer and all their brothers have the same kind of prostate cancer. Apparently during our grandparents generation there was a factory that was dumping cadmium into a stream behind the factory. That shit is still in the water. There was a huge lawsuit and special crews from the state came and cleaned up what they could but that doesn't help all the people who got sick and are still getting sick from showering, cooking and drinking the tap water.
When I was a kid I got egg salad ham or turkey sandwiches. Kraft mac and cheese or refried beans in a tortilla if we were lucky. These kids are lucky to have a hot seasoned meal made with love and care.
Looks good, but I wouldn't necessarily salt the fries... the bbq sauce and ketchup have plenty of salt already. I would also add a vegetable to the plate. Carrots or cucumbers or frozen broccoli are quick and easy.
Unless there's a child with a specific dietary restriction on salt, I would definitely salt the fries. I'm not sure how much salt could be in ketchup and BBQ sauce, but sugar is generally a much bigger problem than salt. Even then, the amount consumed in this one meal isn't what makes or breaks most people's health. It's rare that condiments and sauces are the problem in most people's diets. It's more from the overconsumption of unnecessary simple carbs and ultra processed foods (soda, chips, pre-made box/bag cookies, juices, etc.). In consideration of the standard American diet, I think the meal wasn't that bad.
Salt is actually a requirement of life and your body, especially a childs without medical issues, will get rid of.any extra in your urine. Theres a special hormone that regulates this.
Lunches I've seen given to some children by their own parents include: those same meatballs, leftover Chick-fil-A, Chinese food, chopped up hot dogs, box mac-n-cheese, breakfast food, etc. and don't get me started on the snacks! So in my opinion, this is an acceptable meal especially considering the RIDICULOUS prices for healthy food items. I think with her being a home daycare she is likely doing the best that she can ---- love the school-style lunch trays!
My son is at daycare uk and once week he picks mestballs with wedges and he loves it so much. apparently i don't make it as good 😂😂. As long as my son has a full tummy and is happy then im happy. Well done.
if this ruffles feathers....these people should see what theyre feeding their own chilldren at school. and just like there. if you don't like that, then you make it yourself. just as the way its been, long before any of us was ever born.
Daycare is too expensive for the food to be that bad. Imagine telling a parent that's shelling out a rent payment every month for child care to also make lunch. If the parents make lunch, does that mean they get a discount?
@@angellover02171 i wouldnt know. i never had my kids in daycare. had no idea the cost incuded the meals. if it did. id likely expect a menu like they do in public school.
This is a fantastic lunch!! Balanced for the kiddos and I’m sure she knows what they will eat! I’m sure served with a cup of milk or water ❤ these kiddos are in the best care ever! I wish my pre-K I work at would serve meals half this well thought out and ACTUALLY seasoned!! Idk why people think kids just want plain wheat bread and veggies with no seasoning. That’s not how they eat at home. ❤
A bit heavy on the carbs for my liking-- but certainly not the worst meal I've seen for kids. Portion size is reasonable. I'm sure if I had kids they'd get served something like this from time to time.
I know them kids had a good nap after that meal. Idk who said this wasn’t good but I must be doing something wrong bc I’ve made this for dinner before lol. ❤🥰
This is probably way better than what some parents and schools would give kids. The fries aren't cooked in oil, the meatballs are probably a kid fave, and they have fruit.
People are feeding their kids the same thing at home, and minus the strawberries! So, if you’re talking about what’s nutritious, that’s different. Most schools serve food that are basically a version of what you see in this video.
India is a developing country but the Midday meals there provided as lunch are simple, but cooked from scratch …fresh ingredients and fresh veggies. It appalls me to see how the western countries use so much of processed foods.. packaged sauces, processed meatballs, white flour, packaged fries the only healthy thing here being strawberries. Simple meals cooked from scratch are healthier, tastier, cheaper and best for these growing minds and bodies.
I must say as long as it's not served like this all day, I don't see a problem although I'd have replaced the ketchup with tomato suace because ketchup contains soooooo much sugar and this will be your hell on earth day after they eat it
@Evolutionofagoddess144 Kids get more than enough "good" salt through their food and don't need added salt like it's done in the video. And salt definitely isn't more important than vegetables, I don't know where you get your information from but it's not a good source. Stop justifying putting bad stuff in children's meals on the pretext of it having a tiny amount of beneficial content. The bad outweighs the good in this case.
I'm shocked that so many people think this is ok, or worse, healthy for any human being to eat this. Let alone children. But yeah, it does make sense if I see all the health issues people develop.
grew up in a poor district with my siblings and a refugee mom. homemade, healthy ethnic food every day and snacks/sugar were kept at a limit. we were lucky in that manner. the comments also worried me because there's a trend of encouraging meals lacking enough nutrition or having too much sodium, etc. for growing children in favor of praising "effort", however. i do not think this one warrants that reaction. it's not outrageous, there is room for improvement. what, seasoned waffle fries, strawberries, meatballs, and buttered dinner rolls? man, just go eat your almonds lol
Working at a daycare, bbq meatballs are served often… this a Legit meal 🤷🏾♀️

Why. Would you say that if everything was made from scratch?
I remember being served peanut butter and butter on white bread daily at my "daycare."

Not the healthiest, and not the unhealthiest. It’s quite balanced for the most part and seems as though the children enjoyed it. So I say win win
