Thanks for all the love guys! Really enjoyed this trip and I’m over the moon with the LPC!
Also, annoyingly I forgot to change the year on the titles, sorry about that!
I gad a great time at NAMM, meeting everyone! Tosin was a legend and I really enjoyed the guitars!
Thanks again for watching guys!
I could literally watch you play for hours man. Soo good. Soo versatile.
Hey Rabea, hope you don't mind me asking a boring technical question. Your upload has a real filmic quality to the image. Just wondered how you did this, eg camera and processing methods. Thanks
That Lester looks amazing bet its got the Tim shaws too.
Rabea Massaad - super stoked for you getting the LP - and your playing throughout the vid is exceptional- glad you could experience CA scenery during your stay- cheers to you for your continued success!
Yes the custom was awesome sounding. Great vibe too
Tosin both said he enjoyed your playing and called you a diverse player. You have made it my friend.
ive waited my whole life for bea's playing w tosin's tone and ive never been happier. if they collabd id die on the spot
This was an amazing segment of the documentary. Tosin was blown away, and rightly so.
Between the fact that '71 walked into Norm's no less than 20 minutes prior to Bea's arrival is a sure mark of divinity. And then the compliments from Tosin.. My, my.. I'd say more than a few watch over you. Keep up the great work!
Yeah, I just the other day thought why hasn’t Abasi guitars roped him in as a player?
Love to see toska do a tour with animals as leaders
Could you even imagine!!
Sean Compton they are playing in a festival together in August
@@enlightstudiolondon June too, they're both at Download
Oof
20:40 Poor fella in the background got his brain melted
Dude I loved this so much!!! COngrats on the guitar buddy. There is NOTHING Like a real Paul
Thanks dude! Yeah I’m super happy with it. It really does have a sound if it’s own.
The cinematography of your videos has improved so much!
Yeah, that moment when you tell yourself "C'mon, it's worth it for its resell value alone", but deep inside you *know* you are never going to sell it anyway :)
LOL that guys face at 20:40 says it all!! Sick purchase
Lmao I was watching him going "You and me both, bud."
Haha That’s exactly how I’d look too - So good the brain just can’t...keep...up 😂
@@thomholio yes he was killing I was amazed with his skills
When Tosin gives you compliments... well deserved Bea
Mate, you RIPPED that Abasi booth. Awesome playing man, loved it.
That guitar is hideous (especially after the LP Custom) but Rabea does sound awesome on it
There‘s always that one guy that shreds way too loud.
Oh look, Rob arrived early!
Playing the same goddamned riff too lmao
Felix Blacksher what riffs do u have???
"That was fantastic playing... I was seriously impressed." - Tosin Abasi
Bea gets his due, finally. Kudos, dude.
When Tosin tells you "You were a welcome presence here", it is really all good. Well done Bea!
‘Bea I have been telling my friends that you are my favorite guitarist for about the last 6 or 7 years. The compliments Tosin gave you are well deserved. Cheers mate!
Peace!
I'm so glad for you Rebea! I recently went on a Les Paul Custom journey myself. However, while I was waiting for the store clerk to to become available to unlock the '70s Customs, I was sat playing a repaired, beat up, Studio. Long-story-short, I walked out with a beat up, paint chipped, headstock repaired 2002 Gibson Les Paul Studio in wine red and gold hardware. I couldn't believe the turn of events. My wife was super happy because the Studio was SO MUCH more affordable than the $3200 '78 Custom I was wanting. The playability is out of this world.
20:28 That guy on the right is me everytime Rabea starts to play.
Don Jon
LOL 😂
Bea killin' it at the Abasi booth. Love seeing my favorite guys in the same video.
love the music track
20:15 Right after Rabea compliments Tosin's pickups he dives into the When Ghengis Wakes delicious chunky bridge riff. Tosin smiles and is bobbing his head, and it makes me so happy.
Everytime I see Rabea rip some jazzy stuff I have to remind myself dude is a propper pro and a lover of guitar music of all kinds . He can play it all, great video! Apparently Tosin thought the same.
Something special bout a late-60's thru early-70's Gibson Les Paul. That '71 Custom sounds amazing.
That is a beautiful LP Custom. Real aging, it has got the look. Sounds amazing too. Loved the NAMM footage with Tosin Abasi and the Strymon booth stuff sounded amazing. This is the first VLOG of yours I've watched and I really enjoyed it. Subscribed.
Thanks Man! Welcome :)
First, I love Gibsons and that was an amazing find! Congrats on landing it! I'd love to have an LP that's older than me and plays like that! Second, if anyone the caliber of guitarist as Tosin Abasi described my playing as "fantastic" and "diverse" I would probably drop dead on the spot! What a compliment!
Rabea congrats on your pilgrimage to the US and finding that ridiculously cool LP, man you can almost feel the vibe through the video!
-Cheers
That dude in the back shaking his head in disbelief, near the end, is amazing
"I play Strat or Superstrat." Signature is a Tele shape... Gotta love it.
That Gibson was a wise purchase! Please use it in your future videos with your new Kraken VX100
Well worth watching, worthy praise from Abasi, and I can see Rabea and Danish Pete losing themselves in a Strymon cloud sometime soon.
Those cinematic forest drive shots with snow are legit orgasmic 😍
love the interactions between Rebea and Tosin!
tons of humility and respect
Rabea!! My favorite guitarist. Thanks for all you do my man.
I agree so much
One of my favs to Tater Fight... you got to hear his Chill Down video absolutely beautiful!
Totally nailed it lad. Great video, love the cinematography and also that it had substance, told a story. Most importantly as always... inspired me to play! Keep up the great work.
Man, that guitar made my heart feel happy. Great purchase man!
Rabea and Rob, you are the best! Thanks for coming to our country! Glad you got to see the sequoias and a cool part of the states. NAmM seems like the jam. Y'all are true legends. Keep doing your things! Peace and love!!!!
Fabulous video. Fabulous guitars. Thanks for sharing. Emotional stuff this guitar thing. 👍🏼🤗💕
Dang, Bea! Your editing skills are on point, man! Awesome Vlog!
Welcome to our town. So glad you could join us! Yeah. Los Angeles had all the studios once and still has a lot of the infrastructure so... we can get you the best guitars and amps... and the prices are ususally good. If you want to pay the hotel fees, we can find you something from a private seller but it takes a while. The service Norm (and Mark) offer you is to vet and select the stuff you are most likely to love and use without all the searching. One thing. Make SURE the pickups are original. Norm's team have been known to have been less that careful reinstalling the pickups that came with the instrument. I'm sure it was just a mistake.. all 500 times. Repaired? Ok. But make sure it's original. There are pro repair guys who can check it for you before you buy. ( ie: agree to wait on the credit card payment 72 hours while you make sure. )The 80s and 90s were a cut throat time in the guitar business.. so people from the old school have some old habits. That said, Norm's gets the good stuff.
Such a well done video, Dude! Great camera work, and then there's Rob, Matt, Tosin Abasi, and your music.... class all 'round.
Really love the style of your video, subtle w/good cinematography & sound nothing too over-the-top... was nice and relaxing to watch thanks
Love the LP. I have a 74 custom 20th anniversary. Repaired neck. It sings. Beautiful sounding guitar. Remember the saying “ if the neck ain’t broken it ain’t a Les Paul”
I really enjoyed the video. And man, having Mr.Abasi at your feet tweaking the sound for you and later giving these compliments is something to feel proud about. Kuddos!
Rabea Massad, awsome LPC and awsome playing also. Even Tosin was impressed.
Love this video Rabea!! It’s great to see California looking weirdly British in the cold and cloud. Really enjoyed the backing music too. I could listen to you play forever. Keep up the good work.
The soundtrack to anything set in SoCal is Hip Hop for daytime, and hair metal for night.
13:22 that face of Bea being like "damnit....i'm buying it". lol
I have to say this cheesy shit so bare with me here.
1st.. The Les Paul Custom is my all time favorite guitar. Lets just get that out of the way.
I have this really strong feeling that the guitar you bought is extremely happy that you are it's new owner. You found each other from across an ocean and a continent and that's amazing when you consider it.
You did exactly the right thing. You followed your instincts, and bought the guitar because you felt like you were playing something special. I agree. It's beautiful from every angle and it's years of service just make it better.
Congratulations man! I think that you'll get years of love out of this, and it's good to see. I can't wait to see it in action after you've really had a chance to get acquainted.
Cheers! : )
It's kinda fun to think of it from the perspective of the guitar. Think of all that guitar has been through in its 48 years on this earth. It proudly shows its age and scars yet still sings probably better than it ever did. And now Rabea owns it and it's in store for another lifetime of new adventures with a player who will take it to new heights.
It was -26 F yesterday where I live. Williston, ND. Not to make light Rabea but that's not very cold at all. I'm really proud you all took some time to enjoy a small slice of our country though. Thank you and I hope you enjoyed.
That backing track is dope
Anybody know the name?
I agree! There was some sweet ...tasteful licks in that backing track! I think Reabea is the best guitarist at Anderton's! If you don't believe me....just ask Tosin Abasi! Great video bro!
@@50procentkorting hey man, he released it just before christmas its called first Kontact(i think its the tune ur on about) its sick n made me pick a strat up finaly
Awesome! Thanks mate. Yes its a crazy good song! Really made me want to play more.
I had something in my eye, if you know what I mean...
Modern guitars are great in their own ways, but there is no 'modern' guitar that will produce that 'woody' tone that immediately hits you at 10:17!
What beautiful tone. Amazing. Thanks for posting Rabea!
Surf and snow board in the same day... One of the things I love about California
R. You are by far the best guitarist of the bunch. Your timing is impeccable. Very clean transistions. Like SRV, you never get lost. Love to hear you strike up some solid blues/rock. Think Rob is envious, LOLZ. Cheers.
Ah, I love revisiting vlogs before the pandemic. I miss this old world.
Bea, I need to tell you that I love your music (every bit of it...), your simplicity and your humble way of enjoying what life's giving you... I could write a lot, but in the end of the day just want you to know that I really appreciate your Chanel your videos your taste in gear (guitars amps pedals..) and your simpathy even talking with hundreds of thousands through your YT Chanel...
Maybe one day we could meet and who knows became friends... ;)
Awesome '71 LP (I've read about your doubts regarding the exact year), and since I'm from 78, also would love to have a custom from that year... lets see in a near future :).
Greetings from Portugal (regardless the fact that I'm currently living abroad in United Arabe Emirates, has I told you in another comment)..
All the best for you every every days of your life .. you're great has a human being :)
Cheers
Nuno
Rabea is such an awesome player and guy. And Tosin / Abasi guitars are killer! Also the cinematography always impresses. Great video.
Glad you got that beauty. When the vibe is right you can't pass it up.
I like to see those three guys tripping !! And those guitars they play look like heaven !!!
I'm really glad to see that Tosin is finally a full Jedi.
I really enjoyed watching this video! A little bit of everything...
Norms is always awesome to see! Congrats on your Les Paul custom! That was super cool, you hanging with Tosin Abasi!
He was impressed with your playing! That's a huge compliment! Keep Rockin'!
I have a 78 black LPC I gave about £300 in Austin texas in 1990. After 25 years giging she's really reliced. Got 3 other LP's but "sweep" (after sooty & sweep -sooty being a mid 70's cherry burst standard) was always my favourite.
Watching you talk with Tosin Abasi is the prog guitarist equivalent of Obi-Wan Kenobi meeting Santa Claus. Right on man
I actually live in Venice CA and it's raining today and this was perfect to watch with my morning coffee. Thanks for putting the time in to do this stuff.
And that's how Rabea changed jobs from guitarrist-guru to film director and wins a 2020 oscar for best short film hahaha , great vid as always
22:37 when your brain shuts down for a split second cause Tosin Abasi complimented you for your playing. having the chance to look at you guys having a chat on gear and whatever else would be stellar
Bea your playing is seriously amazing man. And to get compliments from a genius virtuoso guitar player like Tosin Abasi is nuts. Super happy for you, and I could listen to you jam alone all damn day. Hell, your new Kraken 100 video was just so god damn sick listening to you play through all the tones it can produce.
Loads of great playing in this, but that tone and riff in the last Strymon section was gorgeous..
Dude - props from Tosin Abasi are nothing to sneeze at - you should be proud (and he's right - your diversity was a pleasant surprise).
One of my favorite parts was when you started play the hammer riff from Genghis and Tosin almost looks back in shock.
Rabea and Pete please make an album
Absolutely love the beaten up look of that Les Paul.
I too was manufactured in 1971 and I look a lot worse than that guitar I can tell you.
So... To recap...
1971... A great year 😎
I always love your playing. So cool to see my favorites together in the beginning- Norms and Andertons crew
Tosin calling your playing fantastic would be enough to need me being sat in rice.
Wonderful, but dirty, but wonderful, but dirty :O)
😶
🍚
20:22 When Tosin is diggin it! Awesome video, Rabea.
I could listen to Rabea play all day, especially when he does stuff like that last take, real melody.
That fanned Abasi sounded great! The looks can't persuade me to buy one.....
HNG btw!
You flew over my apartment in Culver City on that landing approach. California is a cool place to live and you can choose the climate you prefer.
You can snow ski in the morning, drive a bit, and surf in the afternoon.
Good playing in this video.
Rabea has a great ear for writing cool guitar parts. There are a million shredders, but far fewer that make it sound like he can. Plus he seems like a great guy. Would love to record with him someday.
Congrats on the new Les Paul! That ole girl is a beauty and couldn't of ended up with a better owner. Great year '71. I don't remember personally, (I was 2 years old) but I did own a very rare '71 Dodge Charger R/T. Enjoy that Paul as I know you will! Cheers!
What a beauty. The checking in that finish is great. Sounds better than it looks....And it looks beautiful.
I live about two miles from Norm's and almost bought that guitar back in December. Glad it found a great home with you, Bea!
Jesus, that Custom is the bomb man! Those 70s black Customs are awesome, and that's a great one. Congratulations.
The black Guy's feeling around 20:40 is exactly mine when watching Bea play... What a player completely amazed by each note he can play on a instrument...
Seeing this tells me I need to make a trip up into Sequoia National Park with the snow. I fortunately live about 30 to 40 mins from it. You guys drove through my city ( Visalia ) to get there.
That 71 Custom is a flat out beast. *Many advantages:*
- no fret nibs to get in the way of your playing / future refrets easy.
- clean repair and kept original finish, looks excellent
- with the repaired headstock less likely to ever break again
- chainsaw case also excellent protection!
I approve of the sound. Does UK customs charge a massive importing fee? They are such bullies.
Wow Rabea, what a video. Beautifully shot and amazing content. High quality content there.
That Paul has a seriously special voice bro, you scored a lovely piece for sure. Can't wait to hear it in the studio or on stage! ❤️
Lovely Jam, even better camera work on the road trip segment. Top drawer! Also 100% agree with Rabea re: the ABASI. I wouldn't even give that a second glance in a store but wow does it seem versatile. The guy there was oozing enthusiasm and passion for the product too. Respect to that, sir! Also, just damn amazing playing all round. That 71 is a thing of beauty too .. !
just went here to see the 71 gibson
and knowing you from andertons and rob
but wow youre playing with so much soul
aaand subscribed
great work man !!!
Ive been venturing to the Sierras since I was a grom and it doesn't matter where else Ive been, I always want to (and do) go back because of how beautiful it is every time, no matter the season. If you ever go back, I highly suggest checking out Lake Tahoe. Cheers!
The Commoner
That Les Paul is a proper rock n roll machine. Love everything about it. Sweet tele too.
Congrats Rabea! Oh, and love the Redwoods, pure magic!
Congrats on the LP. The yellowing on it is sick. You can’t fake that vibe. All that matters is how it feels and sounds in your hands.
Oh my god, if only all vlogs would be of this quality. Amazing camerawork and editing. Amazing playing. An AMAZING LP Custom. And that visit at the Abasi booth, such good vibes going there. I love it when two brilliant and humble guitarist get together and just nerd out on guitars.
I was there 2 summers ago (in the summer) & consider yourself lucky to have seen the sequoias in the off season, without mobs of people. Believe it or not, it can get quite warm there in the summer too. You are lucky, Looks beautiful in the snow
Love that last bit you were playing in the Strymon booth; sounds like a great start for a song.
I really enjoy listening to you play, sometimes its not that often that you play as much as you did on this video. I find it inspirational because you seem to be a very polite, likable, humble genuine person. Thanks for the video. All the respect in the world PEACE
Well if the whole guitar/music thing falls through Bea I’m sure you’ll have no trouble finding work in videography/editing, spot on mate!!
Look like someone went to Vlog school! In-camera transitions, slow-mo b-roll, chill tracks... good work, Bea!
Dude Tosin is so sick😭😭😭 that really was amazing playing Rebea, hopefully I will get to meet you some day you seem like a really fun guy to just sit down and talk guitar all day with
The entire video was awesome but I absolutely loved hearing you play through the Strymon rig. If anybody could point me out to more music that shares that vibe I'd appreciate it (already listening to Toska)
Great to see you in the states again Rabea, be safe and I hope you have a blast. Love your playing.
