  • This is it. It's my first metal festival ever, and I jumped right into the deep end. Bloodstock wasn't just an experience to witness and absorb a multitude of talent and sounds, it was an opportunity to connect with the fans and truly understand the essence of what makes metal, metal.
This interview video will be a bit different. I truly wanted to tell a story of how Bloodstock 2021 came to be, one of the first major music festivals in the world to reopen during the pandemic. I hope you'll come with me throughout this journey and feel what I felt, and learn what I learned.
And check out Bloodstock 2022! www.bloodstock.uk.com/

    About metal people being friendly:
I'm from Finland. We have a lot of metal festivals. One of the biggest is held in the capital. Capital also host many other festivals throughout the year. It is well documented that the metal festival is the most peaceful one. I have heared elderly people liking the metal most, cause everyone is so nice, respectful and helpful. Police has stated that they have practically anything to do, and can enjoy the music and talk to people. Metal fans are really wholesome.

My experience is that any/all anger/frustration/anxiety/fear gets ripped out in the music. Thats how i do it anyway, and its always seemed like most everyone around me. The pits can get effing nutz, but outside of that, everyone is pretty decent. Screaming, jokes, zanny behavior... but its all in fun and we help each other. I buy drinks, help people up, always say hello, always shake hands or hug, and thank those helping me. Music brings out connections! Music is life!

Same here in the states. I'm a regular at ProgPower USA in Atlanta, and we've gotten to know the cops and the security team pretty well over the years. It's very non-eventful as far as security needs go. It's funny to see all these black t-shirt wearing folks. We look pretty menacing, but I think we're all engineers and accountants. LOL.

This may be now, but this wasn't always then. Particularly with thrash. When Metallica broke out with Ride the Lightning, it loosed the acceptability of crank. It had been a drug of the wastrels. It was suddenly cool. Friends who had once had an overnight experience with cocaine sorta bragged about having gone on 72 hour binges where, at the end, they superglued hairs across the door jambs and window sills to make sure that the CIA didn't break in while they crashed for a day and a half.
Now that the survivors are parents and grandparents, it is more a family affair.

The metal community is like the opposite of mimics in dnd. They're something that appears inocent and harmless that's going to try to kill you. And the metal community appears like something that's going to try to kill you, but we're mostly innocent.
Your channel, and the joyous yet professional nature of your reactions is just... nice isn't a nice enough word for it honestly. The passion, respect and love you have for music is refreshing.

  • @Naggie_
    @Naggie_ 2 роки тому +48

Oh darn! The question about how reaction channels help the metal scene (or the music community in general) got some really great answers which fit perfectly with how I see things. When I see a reactor launching a reaction to a song I've listened to for many years, I initially just want to see if the reactor likes it as much as I do. But when I see the whole video, I notice how the reactor likes it even more and for a whole other reason which I hadn't even realized existed. Seeing others analyse music is an eye-opener for sure. And as a non-singer myself, finding out how technically hard some songs are makes me even more impressed with the band's performance, arrangement and their overall skill. Those fresh eyes seeing the same song I've heard a million times opens up my own eyes even more. That's why I love reaction videos like The Charismatic Voice, Julia Nilon, Temple Music Academy, Tank the Tech and many others.

Yes for most of my life, music was Jazz R&B and Country. Metal was something that seemed to be a group of people making noise. You have lead me to the understanding that the people in metal are a very talented. If you turn the volume down just a bit, you can hear the intricate and innovated nature you will find in Jazz and the soulful messaging you can find in R&B and Country. My bad for taking so long to come to this realization. Your good for giving me that revelation

We are happy to hear that you are discovering a new world in metal, I hope you find good bands that make you happy and of course bang your head a lot!
Funny is that because of metal especially because of Ronnie James Dio (Elf/Rainbow/Black Sabbath/Dio) I discovered the world of Jazz and R&B, yes one of the greatest metal vocalists of all time encouraged me to look for other types and genres of music because of one of his bands, ELF.
So brother, you are not alone in the journey of finding new genres and opening your mind to a new world.

I've always said the metal community is the best family anyone could ever have, and that's coming from an autistic guy who hates crowds more than almost anything else. I feel more comfortable with a crowd of metalheads than with my own family for a holiday dinner.
I think it's amazing how many reactors who would have never listened to bands like Nightwish, Jinjer, Eluveitie, Beast in black, and Unleash the archers, without them being recommended to them fall in love with them after one or two songs and gain a whole new respect for a largely dismissed genre of music.

I think it would be good to start the interview by saying that "you can speak freely as you like, swear or use hand signals, whatever suits you best". Many pros are used to all kinds of limitations and may be holding back with their opinions unless specifically told otherwise.

I first started watching this thinking OK I'll watch for a few minutes but I'm not going to watch the whole thing... here I am an hour later and I loved the whole thing! lol especially that moment where Matthew Corry talked about how music helped to get his brain moving again. It immediately reminded me of Cody Lee who is special needs, but when he sings, it's like he's any other person (but with an incredible voice!). It really is amazing how music makes the brain work. Great interviews, Elizabeth!

I gotta say, that was one of the best UA-cam reactions I have ever seen. I just found a whole group of bands I've never heard of and started following them. And got a lot of new favorite bands in the process. I follow a lot of reactors and a lot of vocal coaches reactions. The Charismatic Voice took it to the next level with this video. I didn't even pause the video as it was so riveting. Sorry it had to end. Great video.

Awesome-This is so refreshing to see all your enthusiasm and appreciation and recognition of the hard work that metal singers put into their craft. And to hear and see your reactions to metal vocals coming from your opera background is so addictive to watch. I Love, love, love what you are doing for the metal community and recognizing it for the truly amazing and hard working craft we metal singers put ourselves through for our fans and for the love of the genre. Thank you Elizabeth.

Wow such an enthralling video! Saw it was like an hour plus, and thought I’d give it a listen for 10 minutes or so. Before I realised, l’m at the end of the video. Such interesting interviews and everyone seemed so amiable and appreciative of what Bloodstock and the metal scene represents. And everyone was so happy to be rocking out at long last. Thanks for uploading this, an hour of my time well spent

My favorite thing about the metal scene is the family vibe! A lot of people (with good reason) assume we're all angry, mean, aggressive people but then you read about people like death metal drummer Donald Tardy (Obituary) risking his own life to go into a hurricane to rescue a stray kitten from certain death. That is more indicative of what metal people are really like.

For me, channels like yours were trained and qualified teachers in music do these analysis videos validates metal as a style. Pointing out, not only the complexity of a piece but also how it is structured and put together for overall feel. Your conversations during this particular video also highlighted an amazing level of communication and conversation which the metal scene often gets put down for.
