- The K&P rail trail (Kingston to Pembroke) is my home trail in Kingston, ON. Follow along as I start at the southernmost section of the trail and work my way north to Verona in part of one of my video of K&P trail You will get a glimpse of what this first part of the trail has to offer and answer the question if this trail is underrated or not. #kptrail #railtrail #cycling #gravelcyclist
K&P Trail: ontariobiketra...
Looking forward to seeing some lakes. Dip your feet in.😊
I wonder how old that rock cut section is.
According to a couple of sources the Canadian Shield formations in this area formed 2.5 to 4 billion years ago. My newest video on the Cataraqui Trail shows a better representation
Thanks for this. It is one of my goals to do the K&P Trail from one end to the other this summer (2024).
That would be great. I have a friend who did that a couple of years ago. I will do another video to up past Sharbot Lake this year.
The trail gets rough after Clarendon Station so you want to be prepared for that
@_and_Pathways Yes, I have read that and intend to go no further. "If it isn't fun, don't do it."
Is the video of the trail ride sped up? If not, you are going way to fast on the trail, man. Way too fast. You could cause a serious accident at those speeds.
Try to keep it 20kph or less. Turn down the boost
I do a bicycle/camping tour twice a year from Kingston to Sharbot Lake on the K&P trail. Then the Trans Canada trail(Great Trail) Sharbot Lake to Tweed ON. and beyond for a 5 to 9 day trip. I enjoyed your video :)
That sounds great. I want to get back up to Sharbot Lake this year. I have done Madoc to Kaladar which is nice but pretty rough for a gravel bike
Thanks for pointing out a new trail !
Your welcome! I always love discovering new trails
Looks like a beautiful and quiet ride. Would my 700x 32 tires be fine or do I need larger ? Knobby or smooth tread ? I also want to ride the Cataraqui in part. Which section would you recommend for an 80 km ride return. ? Thanks.
They both are beautiful. 32mm tires are fine for Kp trail for sure until you get up past Clarenden Station. Cataraqui Trail is fine itbwill just be a bit tougher in some places. If you start at Harrow Smith trailhead and go east to past Chaffeys Locks and a bit beyond that would be close to 40km one way. Enjoy!
Ah the ol Kick and Push line. Nice to see they turned it into a trail.❤
This is really great. I almost broke a sweat watching. 😁😁
I love the K&P Trail.
That section at Division St and John Counter reminds us that part of the trail is in Kingston, the worst cycling city imaginable.
Definitely a car first city but hopefully over time it will improve
I like the trail. I bike from the Dalton Ave entrance all way to Harrowsmith and cut to the cataraqui trail and go to Sydenham. It's a nice little town and has places to lock up your bike if you wish/ need to go into any of lovely stores there.
That is a regular for me too although I live close to Sydenham Road trailhead.
This is a great video. We’re planning to cycle Sharbot Lake to Verona this summer. Maybe later we’ll do the Verona-Kingston leg.
Thanks Chris. I have done SL to Verona and you won't be disappointed. I hope to do a video of that this summer
