Although Prussia would be a separate state in this alternate history scenario, many people would know that Prussia - like Austria - would basically be just another unofficial German state. Meaning a BUNCH of people from Germany will likely one way or another move to Prussia, because of ancestors or the likes.
And even if not move there, a whole lot of Germans would atleast visit Prussia every year and admire the state.
    Edit: Thanks for 300+ likes!

The glorious renaissance of Prussian culture. Based. It always pained me to see the once beautiful medieval German city reduced to rubble and rebuilt in the brutal, lifeless image of a Soviet city. It is concrete evidence of Nazism's crimes against German culture.
Nazism tainted Germany's Prussian Heritage by intertwining their perverse movement with something so proud and glorious. It is beautiful to see Prussia, Prussian. Like their Austrian brothers, may they stay proud of their culture and safeguard it.

Kaliningrad has taken it upon itself to restore much of the prussian architecture and culture that was destroyed in the war and subsequently after post war reconstruction. Granted its gonna take a while and it will never be as it once was but the prussian heritage and history will never be erased.
Königsberg Cathedral was successfully restored from 1992 to 1998, in a joint Russian-German project for example

What if marathas united India? In this alternate timeline, marathas win the Third battle of Panipat due to the maratha army not taking pilgrims with them which slowed and restricted their movements. They also managed to ally with other hindu kingdoms and with the sikhs and their army is more competently lead in battle. The afghans lose the battle in a decisive and disastrous manner with Ahemed shah Durrani being slain in the battle.
So this leads to marathas securing a huge chunk of north India. Since the empire was already quite overextended so next ten years from 1761 to 1771 or 1772 ( which in our timeline, marathas spent in reconsolidating their previous holdings and resurrecting their empire) is spent in consolidating their newly acquired territories and expanding even further.
In this alternate timeline, Madhav rao the first also does not contact tuberculosis while campaigning against Hyder Ali and continues to fight regional wars against the kings of Deccan as well as the british. Soon from his alliance with France, he gets to know about the fate of the native americans and how they were wiped out of their own lands. So to not wanting to see the Indian Subcontinent suffer a similar or even worse fate, he with the help of France, starts to massively modernise the army and begins to once again invest in the maratha navy like the founder of the maratha empire, Chhatrapati Shivanji Maharaj the Great did when he laid the foundation of the maratha empire. He also forms an military alliance with nizam of hydrabad and Mysore which then extends to the kingdom of Travancore. Soon states like the kingdom of Oudh, the Sikh empire, the kingdoms of Nepal, kingdom of Ahom, the Rajputana states and many other kingdoms and chieftains join this secret alliance. The Mughal empire which now was basically a puppet to any superpower in the region and which now only controled the regions of Delhi would be now forced to accept this proposal. This alliance would also be joined by the sons of the deposed Sultan of Bengal in hopes of retaking their lost throne. This alliance would then further extended to kingdoms like the Durrani empire of Afhganistan, the kingdom of Sindh and many north eastern kingdoms and tribes. The purpose of this alliance is to to restrict the control and then ultimate removal of all foreign powers from the Subcontinent. When the third Anglo-Mysore war begins, the alliance is ratified and the war soon this regional war escalates into a war where all the Indian states are united to fight the british. This is approximately at the same time when the French revolution occurs and the coalition wars began. After several Years of fighting in 1809 the British are completely pushed out of Indian Subcontinent. Soon this alliance paves the way for a united Indian government. This new government resembles the government of Imperial Germany but with a major change. While in imperial Germany, there was one Emperor whole was the first among equals and was followed by the different kings and princes of other german states. Here there will be two Emperors instead of one. One being the Maratha Peshwa ( or the peshwa-i-hind ) and the Mughal Emperor ( or shenshah-i-hind ). The Maratha peshwa would reside in the city of Poona while the Mughal Emperor would reside in the city of Delhi. However all the power will be under the Maratha Peshwa. It will seize all the territories held by the British including regions like Ceylon and Burma. Soon it wil make an deal and alliance with France in which France will cede all of its remaining territories in Subcontinent to the Hindustan confederation in exchange of alot of economic consessions and other benefits. This is the type of diplomacy Hindustan confederation tries with the Portuguese as well but when this plan fails, Hindustan confederation quickly invdes Goa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, quickly secures it and gets rid of all colonial influence by May 10th 1857 when Europe recognizes the Hindustan confederation as a legitimate government. Initially France would be Hindustan confederation's greatest ally. Hindustan confederation follows a path of industrialization along the line of the japanese model of 'Japanese spirit, Western technology'.
As soon as Hindustan confederation becomes industrialized enough to expand even further, they are met with their two rivals, Great Britain with whom they would wrestle over to gain the Supreme control over the Indian ocean and with Russia with whom Hindustan confederation would have massive border skirmishes and disputes over the central asia region. This would culminate into the Indo-russian war of 1874 inwhich Hindustan confederation with massive support from France would defeat the russians because the Russian Empire would still be going through a complete army rehaul after their loss in the Crimean war. This would propel the nascent Hindustan confederation into one of the world's leading powers akin to what happened to Japan after their victory against the russians. As the Second French Empire collapses and Imperial Germany rises, Hindustan confederation begins to allign itself more and more with the teutons as the French begin to align themselves with the British and the Russians.
So, when world war 1 starts in 1914, Hindustan confederation quickly joins the central powers. This alternate world war ends in a complete failure for the entente as without India, Great Britain just doesn't have the resources, funds and manpower needed to fight such a long grueling war while the Hindustan confederation opens up a new front not only for the british but to most importantly against the russians. This leafs to central power victory in 1917 as Russia collapses much faster and the british just are not able to cope with fighting the war on so many different fronts. Hindustan would annex several European colonies in the Indian ocean and Indo-pacific region and would gain the Supremacy of the Indian ocean.
Hindustan confederation would play a massive role in the following Russian civil war where it would annex a lot of territories and would turn rest of central asia in a bunch of puppet buffer states. In the 1920's and 1930's, it begins to ally itself with Japan as both nations together would invade, conquer and split china in 1936. During this alternate world war 2, Hindustan confederation amd Japan would jointly invade and carve up the European colonies as they would would be busy fighting each other and together they would participate in this alternate operation Barbarossa with Japan invading from the east and Hindustan confederation striking from the south. They would together crave out asia between themselvesa and now with sizable asia under their control and with the support of the Hindustan confederation, Japan wins the war of Pacific against the USA. After some 20 years of peace on the Asian continent, the Japanese empire would begin to collapse due to overextension ad due to continously rebellions by the subdued populations. Hindustan confederation would support such rebellions as it would further spread the Hindustani influence all across the Asian continent. As the Japanese empire collapses on itself, Hindustan confederation takes it's place as the Supreme power of the Asian continent.

I personally think that the polish speaking minority in Poland wouldn't be deported.
The poles that lived there were protestant, and considered themselves to be prussian, and most didnt want to become part of an catholic dominated poland.
So that meant that they historically always voted to stay a part of germany, voted the NSDAP, and had even fled West together with their german speaking counterparts, when the russians arrived.
Even Adolf Hitler made favourable coments about the masuren polish population.
My family's name also comes from said polish minority.
Please dont make the mistake of saying that the polish speaking prussians were polish, they were germans, that spoke another language.

It's not really that simple. Masurian people (Mazurzy) weren't really German, it was a Slavic ethnic minority, converted to protestantism. It was the religion that tied them with Prussians, also it wasn't really something extraordinary to speak German while living here, even for Polish or Warmian person because overall you were living in the German state. Also there are Masurian people who stayed in Mazury and consider themselves Polish. As I say, it wasn't really that simple back then. Btw, I live in Olsztyn, former "Allenstein" in East Prussia:)

Königsberg, an unfortunate city cursed by two tyrants. Stalin destroyed it and made it ugly, and the Painter stained it and made people too afraid to even talk about it. Standing on the streets of Kaliningrad felt unreal. You know that a great civilization used to exist under those soulless concrete coffins. It is like exploring the Atlantis, but on land, by the Baltic coast. Give ppl more time. It took the city of Kant and Goldbach 700 years to be such a vibrant bastion of Western culture in Eastern Europe. It will take no less than that amount of time to bring some of it back.

East Prussians did not speak high German, but had their own various distinct regional dialects as East Prussia was a melting pot of Germans from all over the HRE, French, French speaking Swiss, Lithuanians (the NE part was also called Prussian Lithuania), Masovians, Salzburgers, all Protestants invited by the various monarchs over the centuries as they were usually expelled by Catholics. Also, the Königsberg castle was not the ancestral seat of the Hohenzollern family. That is to this day Hohenzollern Caste in today's Baden-Württemberg.

Interesting: especially if post-war accords had allowed the formation of PSSR. One minor point, Lithuania did not 'steal' Memel/Klaipėda from Germany, but regained it after a long Occupation. The proposed PSSR would have been a barely viable agricultural entity. After the collapse of the USSR, PSSR may then have been reformed as part of an enlarged Lithuanian state.

  • @FloridaGentlemen
    @FloridaGentlemen 2 місяці тому +1

I came up with a similar scenario a while back. Except I had a much more hostile Polish and Lithuanian reaction that leads to a brief war to ensure Prussia can not reunite with Germany. With the 90s being a time of liberalization and investment from Germany in industry and tourism, then beginning in the 2000s having them take on path similar to Russia, with a former Soviet army officer coming to power and gradually turning the Republic in to wierd mix of Prussian nationalism, communist nostalgia, and Nazi esque policies, such as segregation of polish and Lithuanians in the state, and becoming a strong supporter of Russia. They would also act as middle men in trade deals between Germany and Russia during the current Ukraine war, especially in the sale of Russian gas.

A big mistake people make when discussing the fall of the USSR is ignoring the massive losses that the Soviets suffered during the second world war. In your scenario the Soviets did significantly better so we can assume they had 30 to 50% less losses. The Soviet economic system was flawed, too centralized and too prone to corruption, but that alone didn't mean the Soviets were doomed to collapse this soon.

In the gta verse. The winning nations of ww2, the allies wanted East Prussia to remain German. To remain Prussian. As long as Soviets keep it that way. The Soviets worry the Prussians would destroy the USSR from within. Berlin remains divided like in real life. However though, Berlin being reunited would make the newly formed Pan European Customs Pact as former NATO European states and former Warsaw Pact states decide to form this pact to make Europe independent from the USA. As well as the Soviet Union. And decide to aid the stagnant Soviet Union. Allow the Soviet republics to vote to stay or remain in Moscow. Many stayed in Moscow. While the Baltic states left Moscow and joined the Pan European Customs Pact. Pan European Customs Pact allowed non European states to join. With the west European Federation being the most powerful member to lead the pan European pact.

Great Video! I would have found it very interesting if you would've continued this scenario until the present. E.g. if you followed the russian invasion of Ukraine. What would be the position of Prussia? Would they position like their polish and baltic neighbors and heavily support Ukraine or rather like Hungary and have a renegade pro-russian position? Maybe they would now want to join Nato like Sweden and Finland did or maybe they would start to ignore sanctions and many EU countries would want them to be kicked out of the union. What about the 20% russian minority after the independence? I assume it would've shrinked to maybe 10% due to emigration similar to the baltic coutries. Maybe you could explain how ten thousands of prussians would've moved to mainland Germany in the first 10-20 years after the independence of Prussia due to economic reasons. But I could imagine that in this scenario many mainland germans would've migrated to Prussia especially since 2010, because Prussia would've become wealthier similar to the baltic neighbors. I think Prussia would be also a very appealing destination for many right wing Germans unhappy with their system. There are many ways this scenario could be continued.
