I think I found several sojs in og d2. In d2r, I've found 1 soj. I did about 1k NM andy runs hunting it and then gave up. About 3 days later, an soj drops from rando mob in chaos seal pop lol
This ring has stood the test of time it's extremely rare for a good reason I love the bonuses with it it matches its rarity and everything. I find a little frustrating that bots made it easy for people to get the nearest charms or or torches however which one you get because they just farmed the one boss that has the best numbers to get associates for these things are meant to be hard to come by not just a service. I have a side topic I know you've been testing the PTR and I'm testing rune words. I have a UA-camr that I like to watch who took two months break because he had to move and his name is kill Rob and he did a video 4 years ago outlining what room words should be balanced as and it's a really good video this is a developer himself he spent thousands of hours doing this kind of exact same job and he plays the game for fun and takes a really good take on how they should be balanced in the runewords where it's. I’m learning about this game. It’s fun. I bought it the summer it came out but sold it to a friend decades ago and have rebought it multiple times since. I even own the collectors edition.
I wish Nightmare and Hell would both be completely new 5 acts! It's so silly doing the same things and losing Deckard Cain in the beginning of a difficulty etc. When you defeat the final boss of Hell difficulty the other difficulty areas would scale up to the level of the last areas of Hell giving you so many different places to do stuff in. 💕
Another great video. I've been playing D2 on and off for over 20 years and I have only found 2 SOJs. They are incredibly rare to find on your own. Both times I found them I kept them and they eventually were lost when my characters expired. The ones I traded for I'd trade forward in a second, but the ones I actually found were like holy grails to me, lol.
I've been playing D2 again religiously since 2018 for thousands of hours and still have only found x1 SOJ and ended up twinking it to a Summon Necro on PlugY where it remains until this day.
After spending months of mornings farming nightmare Andariel without ever finding it, watching you just casually sell that crushed my soul a bit. Can't believe something so incredibly useful and hard to find is still used for Dclone spawning so long after duping was an issue.
@@Bowazon I have spent an hour a morning since launch farming Andariel exclusively on my hardcore Grail singleplayer on /players 7, and I've only ever found Nagels when unique rings drop, and they don't actually drop that often. I think I've found four now since launch. And no Manalds either. But who knows, maybe tomorrow she will give me one a run for twelve straight. One can only hope and pray to RNGesus.
It was so easy to find these in the very early days. You could only find it in a game where someone owned a nagelring and a manald heal and noone owned a stone of jordan. What you did is pileup a huge amount of gold in act 2 and just gamble. We gathered the gold for 40 soj in around 30 hours. All legit ones. Also the early soj and all other uniques had no level requirement, so starting a new character was way easier.
For those who dont know if u dont have a smiter or a character that can kill him u can make him spawn in chaos and kill all the monsters save the last seal next to him make sure hes near it and hit the last seal and it will automatically kill him making it super easy lol
holy crap dud, you are talking history about how the game operated before LOD? I did play the game back then, but I was like 9yo, and I had to go to my friends house to play on his computer. When I finally got the game for myself I was like 11 and I just went and got LOD. I didn't realize there was any significant history to talk about before LOD.
played this game for 12 years. i've never found one. Best item i've ever found was a gul rune. I did recently find an ist rune from hell countess though and nearly wet myself.
I've never found one either and my highest I've found a Vex and a Mal . But thanks to Ginger's videos I now have one of each of all seven characters up to at least act one hell.
Runes were not immediately the currency when LoD came out. SoJs were still currency in LoD for quite awhile. I remember playing the game my entire freshman high school year and every one still traded for SoJs. I believe it wasn't until 1.10 patch came out when runes became currency.
So yes and no, non ladder retained the sojs because non ladder never got reset However in ladder where the sojs were wiped and everyone had to start fresh there wasn't an infinite supply of sojs anymore. And with the unique item ID's in place you couldn't dupe them anymore without them going poof

Because I forgot to turn down players count) The history behind the SoJ is really interesting hehe. My Charm did not rolled too well 11/17/9. Way back in the day when i originally payed, i managed 2 SOJ'S (which could very well have been duped) but i traded something (forgot what though) for a "white ring" which was AMAZING but....... turns out it was hacked, and well my account was banned......
I got one on d2r on my solo necro, I'm 94 ATM and xp is rough going I'm considering selling my only one for a chance at that anni charm..(was a random drop of a champion mob in hell wsk)
one cool/ HORRIBLE thing about dclone online is sometimes all you have to do is be on the right server, ive never sold a SOJ but ive killed dclone (and had my ass whopped by dclone) multiple times thanks to other people..
I think the SoJ is better than BK unless you need lifesteal or your character doesn't use mana. SoJ's +Mana is affected by BO but BK's +Life/lvl is not.
This is true but not every character cares about mana. Take my holy freeze paladin for instance. About the most mana he ever uses is 2 for zeal and the occasional refresh of holy shield. But plus to skills is very important for him.
Its still kind of a curenci soj value about one good hr if some one ask for 4 hrs and you put 3 and a soj he will probly acceped anyway. He will trade back the soj for that he want
Your history on the SOJ is a bit wrong. Originally if you carried one of every unique ring EXCEPT the SOJ, every time a unique ring dropped it would be a SOJ. Although this was an obvious target for duping, the original drop method made it ridiculously easy to have a SOJ drop for you.
@@GGMentor You are mostly right about the duping though. They called the patch that erased all the duped items "Rust Storm". I lost a single unique armour because I had vowed not to trade for the hacked small charms that everyone had. My Amazon walked into the new patch in godlike mode because I had chosen (by chance) the right skills for the synergies.
After several hours of farming an SOJ at Andariel in Nightmare mode, I finally found one in Hell Difficulty, on my way to Andariel, from a normal monster. I tried to add a socket to a unique armor with three perfect skuls and didnt work. Then I discovered that this recepie only works for yellow items. Hahaha what a waste of time to actually spend time to hunt for SOJ when actually in your end build you will never use yellow items )))

As I explained in the video, they used to be duped copied all the time so there was millions of them. It was a certain point where literally they were used as currency. So using them to spawn over Diablo was an attempt to remove them from the game because there was too many like tribbles.

Just curious, I never sold a SOJ and while farming keys for uber tristram I went for Nihlatak and I actually found uber Diablo instead, somehow managed to kill him in nearly 20 minutes of trying and got my first annihilus ever, this was solo online play. Is this just pure luck to find him that way or rules changed?
Does the chaos sanctuary method still work I'm d2r? Kill 2 of the seal super unique, sell the soj, pop the 3rd, and dclone dies with the 3rd super unique.
unfortunately duping is definitely back in the game.. we had 5 or 6 walks this weekend alone, on softcore ladder americas (at least 2 yesterday and 3 more today so far) theres no way in hell all these runs were legit, that would be like 700 sojs sold in 2 days lol either this or botting is really really easy.
This is somehow like the thing with the cobras in india where the english put a bounty on every cobra and the indians started breeding them for easy money xD
Yeah. If there's a problem with duping a specific item, perhaps the best answer is NOT to make a change that increases even more the demand of that specific item.
Yes and although the Unique Item modifiers existed at the time because when you place runes in a socketed item it creates a runeword the unique Item modifier gets changed and allows the duped item to exist as if it were a real one.

That's not how new difficulties work. You're describing expansions. Something that takes a considerable amount of work.

I remember at one point it was 40 duped sojs for one Shako. You would have mules full of sojs just for making trades. It was such a mess.

For d clone I'd guess the crushing blow helped more with the higher health pool and then fizzled out at the end

Weird drop rate on this one in D2R. I got 2 back to back while leveling on Andy in NM with sub 100% MF and zero while farming NM Andy with 400+ MF....

You need a source of Prevent Monster Heal, but not on a merc. Since mercs cannot use that mechanic unfortunately.

Yes Single Player is always Offline mode. If you are playing online even if you are by yourself It is still considered multiplayer.
