The SE80 Man - Skrie (Improvisation - custom Novation Peak controller )

- The SE80 is my Custom midi controller for the Novation Peak.
It emulates some qualities of the Yamaha CS80 , giving the Peak direct
control over modulations and other features hidden away in the
Peak's various menu's. I've also added a little Ribbon controller to give it
that little extra CS80 touch :)
I like this improv. It's very chill. It's the kind of thing I'd listen to while
making some drawings or just doodling. It's raw and un-edited, but there's
only a few minor thick fingers. If you spot me watching annoyed at some point
it's because I realize after a few minutes that my sustain-pedal only effects the
bottom keyboard. If you watch closely you can see me sneakily add a channel
to my daw to sent bottom keyboard's midi to the Peak as well. Things go much more
smoothly after that.
Skrie rises! Wonderful tones and playing.
Space... the final frontier!
Damn dude sounds awesome!
beautiful
This is super inspirational, @skrie - very impressive!
What can I say? Excellent as always. And there is a real life camera operatoras as well. Here's to absent friends. Have you also amde phone calls to the Hydrasynth supplier? Keeping up the pressure might help. 🙂
Thanks Marc. The real life camera operator is called "Jarle’s Deadpool Handheld Camera Presets" :) A little trick to keep it from being all too static. I sent Bax an email, but the Hydra is simply in backorder... I've never seen the previous Hydra in any shop either... and that one has been out for ages now.
Does your controller keyboard also provide PolyAT? (Which the Peak does support.) If not, I can recommend the Hydrasynth, if only as a controller keyboard. (But the Hydrasynth is a very capable synth on it's own and I totally love it!) With the PolyAT you get the ultimate CS80 touch!
BTW: finally, another skrie submission! 😀 Love your work. I still play your album (bought on Bandcamp) regularly.
Thanks :) I've ordered a Hydrasynth Deluxe in december. But they keep sending me notifications that the shipment is delayed. I'm very grumpy about it. I've always loved the Hydrasynth idea, but the original Hydrasynth had not enough keys for my taste! Now they finally made the flagship 73-key PolyAT keyboard that I've always dreamed of. Can't wait till it finally comes.
@@skrie Did you ever receive it? I got one this year as well, and it's pretty great. (Although my OB-X8 is getting more playing time now because...magic of Oberheim ;-) )
What patch is this? Sounds amazing!
The starting patch is one of my own patches. But I'm constantly changing the modulation rates with the controller.
I'll share the base patch when I'm back from work. Help me remember if I forget... It's called "BIGTOET"... because it does a big toot when you apply aftertouch :P
Great sounding track , is it the Boomstart SE80?
No. I had already named my midicontroller the SE80 when I found out there already existed an SE80 lol. My SE80 stands for Skrie Electronics 80 (the 80...from CS80). I guess if I ever were to produce more of them I'll have to come up with a more original name.
@@skrie I would say claim them for using your name :) , I use the Memorymoon ME80 VST , an amazing copy of the CS80... it is remarkable.
@@arjenarend7755 I've used that too. It's great. Actually the whole idea of making a CS80 midicontroller started from my wish to controll the ME80 VST. I canceled that when I counted how many faders I'd have to connect to one Arduino. :P I still have the concept art and the dream of once making it... but it's very complicated. Here's a picture:

@@skrie Wow looks great! you should finish it :), it looks better then Deckards Dream.... I am waiting for Behringer to deliver the CS80 copy....until then I use my Hydrasynth and ME80
@@arjenarend7755 Exactly. I'm also waiting for the Behringer and hoping it won't suck too much. xD Even if it's horrible , we can always use it as a midicontroler for the ME80 VST.
