PLEASE NOTE : Flip- Flops are dangerous! There are more slip and falls, broken bones, stitches wearing flip-flops than any other product. Sorry. I am a health insurance broker and know the stats. Four years ago I was stepping over my Great big beautiful Great Dane. My flip-flop caught on the braid of her bed. I flew across her, landed on other side...broke my ankle, surgery, pins, plates: $67, 000. Please do not wear flip-flops ... especially Seniors.
In the mornings, I wear old socks to warm my feet. I call them my 'cleaning day socks'. Very comfy.
Agree on the danger of flip flops! So many of our patients in rehab, have suffered from a random action involving this footwear..
My mum in law who is in her early 80s had a fall resulting in broken bones while putting on her flip flops.
These are only worn at home and they are special flip flops
Sorry, I would not be caught dead with flip flops, you can easily get killed in a fall.
Don't forget to change the direction of the ceiling fan with the change of seasons!😊
For sure
I have a frugal tip . We have to pay for garbage. I asked the company to give me the largest recyclable can I could get and the smallest garbage can we recycle everything! I have been able to only use two garbage bags a week for family of four saving myself $60 a year. More money in my pocket.
Great
In Minneapolis we just got a letter saying that now even if we don't use the organic recycling bins we have to pay for it.😢
We bring our recycles in town ( when we’re there for other things too) and we burn the rest of our trash. We also compost any kitchen scraps and that gets added to our gardens 😊
@@cjhoward409Same here!
I love this idea and checked into it previously in our area, but sadly, our service is partially paid through our city taxes and partially through being billed directly. Everyone gets the same charge and same size bins. My recycle is often nearly full, and the larger bin for trash has barely anything in it.
I have a “live in” handy man, my husband. 😊
We save a fortune on renovations and repairs. 🤩
🌷Sam
Yes, same! My husband fixes just about everything, built a patio, finished our garage, has installed ceiling fans/lighting, and most everything else!
You are very lucky!
Love that!
Same ! My handyman husband built our home saving up thousands ! We did hire a good friend who is excellent at plumbing. He did that work.
My husband used to flip houses with his dad 20+ years ago and he also was a building trades teacher. And once a year thru his classes they built a habitat house. One summer he brought 8 of his students to biloxi Mis after Hurricane Katrina and helped to rebuild homes 😊
Same here 😂
Just wanted to say… you make me happy 💛 I hope God blesses you ✝️ You just have such a good spirit about you with a heart that shines though 💖
God Bless you
My IPad is my best cost saving item. I don’t have a TV, don’t pay for any channels. I just watch UA-cam, Bitchute and Rumble. I do all my online shopping and banking on it. Very cost effective.
That's what I use in my RV :)
Definitely bringing my lunch to work is a big money saver, it's healthy foods too, I put a dry blanket in the dryer with my wet clothes to help them dry faster on less time, i Google how to fix things and can change my own head light bulbs in the car, i make my own cleaners or use the just some soap and water cleaner.
Dawn, you can adjust the thermostat one or two degrees up for air and down for heat without any discomfort.
It can save you some money on the bills.
Also, using fans to circulate the heat and cooling air does lower strain on the heating and cooling system.
Also, using electricity is cheaper at certain times of the day. Our electric company actually had sent out charts to let us know how to conserve energy at different times.
I live in a cold weather state. We keep our thermostat even lower & just layer up in clothes if needed.
Find ways to reduce the size of the rooms or Don't use a room at all..section it off. My sister has a mobile home with bedrooms on each end. She moved her bed into the livingroom and cut her a/c bill by 60%!..just the 2 of them at home now.
@@karendjohn8803In Minneapolis, the electric company was denied charging more for some times of the day
You can do half and half to dry clothes, half in the dryer and half on anything that will let you drape and hang. I have used hangers and used my pot rack and my canopy wrought iron metal bed frame. I never hang my husband's clothes, as he is skinny and if the clothes shrink, it does not matter. I mostly hang my clothes. I do rotate out shoes, and rarely need a replacement.
I buy Skecher tennis shoes that look like leather.I immediately removed the laces..then spray the tennis shoes lightly with WD40. I do that three times and my shoes look like they are new after five years! The only thing that I dislike is having to remove laces for washing them and relacing
My cellphone helps me make money. I use it to sell on Poshmark. My Keurig helps me save money on coffee - I always make mine at home. My iron & steamer saves me money on drycleaning. Great video!
Great tip!
My brita filter saves me money along with my reusable water bottle bottle. I buy the filters at target, the store brand is half what brand name is. And I had long term symptom from the norovirus, lower back pain. I bought a Japanese back massager for $100. Used it every day, in the beginning five or six times a day. It really got me back to healthy. I figure that saved me money in doctor’s appointments, not missing work or paying for massages...
I never heard of wool balls, and Yeti, interesting. I use over again pie pans to warm up food- this is so convenient.
I have a free dishwasher , my husband, for some unknown reason he loves to wash dishes 🍽 😂
Love that!
@@CentsibleLivingWithMoneyMom Lucky you!!!
I have a theory as to why he loves to do dishes. You said he was an accountant, which requires brain work. I remember, back when I had a job that required extensive brain work, I was so mentally tired when I got home from work, I wanted to wash dishes because I needed to do something brainless in order to relax my brain.
Thats funny😂..lol. My husband will do anything but dishes. Hurts his back to stand over a sink. But he does load the dishwasher .❤
@@minimalismbyan659 I'm sure you're absolutely correct !!!
I Prepack my lunch bags with things like cashews so that when I do pack my lunch for the day. It has already half ways ready to go.
We do all of these things.. thank you for sharing. I literally buy nothing when i leave the house . Lunch everyday and rosdtrips are planned too. ALL my laundry is hung on dry racks or hangers. Sheets are thrown over doors.😊
Thanks for sharing!!
Packing my lunch for my part-time job. Air dry some items on the shower rod. Better light bulbs.
Dilute laundry detergent, using much less product. I used ceiling fans and small fans, too.
My spouse and I doing our housework together, rather than a cleaner.
Buy same of our everyday clothes at local thrift shops.
Thanks for your tips.
Great tip!
I bought a few good quality brown tarps I stretch tarps from one side of the room to the other ... reducing the space it needs to be heated or cooled
Great idea! 💜
Start planting your fruit seeds if you live in Texas- gala, plums and pomegranates grow easily from seed.
Good to know!
Money savers: wood stove, washing line, home exercise equipment, air fryer, instant pot,
Very good!
For any somewhat durable good, do research and buy what best meets your needs not necessarily the cheapest. Otherwise, you will be replacing the item so often that you spend more replacing cheap products than purchasing one and maintaining it well.
I live in flip flops. Saving me money on not buying socks. Lol seriously, anything above 50 degrees and my feet feel the air ! I’ve always been like this and I have friends and family my age range (58) that all have bunions and other foot issues. I do not. 😊
I live in them too! Around here when it gets below 60 degrees people just wear socks with them.
Hi Dawn! As you were speaking about ceiling fans, this came to my mind. So many times I've seen people turn off their ceiling fans in the winter months. By flipping the switch to turn the fan blades the opposite way than during the summer, ceiling fans help circulate the warm air. Just wanted to share this, as it will save on your utility bills during the winter months...but be sure to switch the blades back for spring and summer use.
Yes, I am
Putting a dry small towel in dryer with damp clothes speeds up drying. I have those wool balls don’t find they do much. I do spray them with frabic softener and a little tea tree oil to freshen up towels or jackets. I will take clothes out early that air dry quickly to cut down on power and I run my dryer after peak times.
The wool balls are in place for dryer sheets, which saves a ton of money and avoids chemicals.
Great tip!
I have those wool balls too. A friend gave me some. I still
Find that things take as much time to dry and they do not stop the static cling. Grrrr. But 90% of the time I hang clothes outside
A friend of mine said, "I will not SHOULD on myself today!"
I've been scraping my teeth for years. I have to, as I build up tartar daily. My dentist says it is because my diet is more acidic, and that tartar means LESS LIKELY to have cavities. But it is ugly and annoying, so I scrape it before brushing.
I live alone, so save money by meal prepping 1 day a week and shop based on the weekly sales to save. Try to make 2-3 meals and cook/bake at the same time. Saves on electricity, since stove is only on for an hour or less. Portion leftovers in single serving size containers, to just grab and go. Microwave saves money since it only takes 1-3 mins. to heat a meal rather than heating up the entire oven again. I also mow my own yard/grass (great exercise) and do the weeding/gardening and hedge trimming. Clean my own gutters, twice a year, which takes 15 minutes and saves the $75 the gutter companies want to charge for each visit. Every little bit helps :)
Brilliant
I look for ways to cut "ghost power". I flip the breaker off for the range so it is not drawing power to the clock, turn off and unplug the digital picture frame every night, have the coffee makers (yes, multiple) on a power strip. That's just naming a few things. I bought a kil-o-watt to find out what was drawing power with the switch off. My husband laughs but pennies do add up!
Yes!!! Buying good quality is a great way to save money in the long run - no need to repeatedly buy replacements! Everyone is mourning the demise of the 99 Cents Store, but many of the items don't last or encourage impulse buying. Better to buy a few things of good quality than to have a bunch of cheap things that don't serve you well or break.
Nice flip flops. Sadly, I’m such a little girl that my toes are close together so I have to wear flip flops made with cloth. 😂. The other kind hurts between my big toe and the one next to it. My go to’s have been Yellowbox for years. 👍
🩴 🩴 Some flip flops can hurt.
The cloth ones seem comfy. I’ll look into that brand.
🌷Sam
@@sammie44 yeah, it’s that plastic middle part that hurts my toes. But the cloth, I can’t even feel for the most part. 👍
I have considered the kind similar to Dawn’s that aren’t really flip flops but are more like slides. Oofos knockoffs. 😜
I can't wear anything between my toes. I wear slides.
@@3TXSisters makes sense 👍
Oh no!
Wonderful ways to save. Have A Wonderful Weekend Everyone ❤
Thank you! You too!
My slow cooker saves me money because I can effortlessly make broth and throw together an easy meal.
I love the slow cooker
Great ideas as always Dawn. I sure wish we could know where to find that magnet. I would love one too. We save money by cooking from scratch, always taking a lunch with us to run errands, so we don't have to stop and buy something. We keep wool blankets handy here in Michigan to keep the heater turned down. Wow, ,what a savings. Hubs and I are retired so we just dress warmer . Such a savings. We also turn our vents off in rooms we are not using which sends more air to the living room and kitchen area which really helps.
You are so smart
I would say that our water filter that connects to the water spout on the front door of our refrigerator has saved us a small fortune thru the years. We don't need to change it very often. We use a lot of thiscwater for all of our cooking needs. Along with our coffe, tea,& water drinking. Hardly ever need to buy bottled water too.
My HD tv antenna and a free movie app have saved me a lot of money. 💰 Sacramento, California USA 🇺🇸
I use wool dryer balls too
Items that improve life.
> No cable TV
> Woodstove, to save on heating costs. (Doesn't apply to Texas.)
> Buethooth
> Radiator
> Hot water bottle, for feet at night
> No HOA
Edited to save time reading. I'm too verbose.
I have shoes similar to yours, but their slip on sandals. I’ve had since my 31 year old son was in junior high school. They have a lot of miles on them. Their very comfortable. I have them on right now.
I agree
Lynn here I use a wooden wrack to dry my clothes ..I do a load a day and they are dry the next day saves me 1.75 a load in our Apt. complex.
Fantastic
I got an second refrigerator in trade a year ago, which allows me to stock up on bargains from the local discount grocery.
How fantastic
Watching every single penny that I spend whether its clothes, food every single thing even health and car insurance, gas I mean everything. i also dont go out as much, I stay home. if I do go out its a all day trip, not numerous trips per week. i also have been doing alot more walking as well. i dont have any substriptions except amazon and sirius xm . i live in the high desert and those are my entertainment . i even bought the mexican brand laundry soap. i dont have costco anymore . i mean anything I cut out its gone.
Good tips!
Glad you think so!
A few ways I save money around the house is by not buying paper towels and using cloth napkins and such. I make my own laundry detergent and costs about 2 cents a load and I also make my own dish detergent.
Brilliant
My dehumidifier in the basement, saves me thousands of dollars woth of house improvements, if I didn't have it.
I love your short and sweet videos!
Glad you like them!
I buy the old model smart phones at $40. I use the fluorescent bulbs, they last 5 years. I put in a ceiling fan in my sm. living room that's for a much bigger room and it's like a tornado. I am able to keep AC at 80 with this fan on. I'm in Texas too. Brenham. .
Hi neighbor
though the heat pump dryer and the water furnace and our solar array and solar hot water heater have been the biggest pay out's. not having to pay a power bill for 23 years and investing all that money is amazing.
Fantastic
Wow! I need to get the Forever Flip Flops! 😂❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
my 23,000 btu a/c is on and i love it my energy bill is about 532 a month i love my a/c
Thanks for the Libby app. Was not aware before you mentioned. Please continue to share apps that save money, time, etc. Much appreciation!
Will do!
Great suggestions, Dawn. I love our mini-ceramic room heater. I put on a sweater and turn the mini-heater on when I'm cold instead of heating the whole house.
Sounds great!
Dawn, I dont know if you heard but 99 cent store is closing all stores, if you have one near by you stock up on those sales. That though means alot of people are gonna be out of work and families who rely on the 99 cent store wont have that as a option to shop at. Just a fyi. Awesome video
The .99 store we have is expensive.
I heard
One of the best ways to save money is to learn to cut your own hair. Hubs does his own with barber clippers and after getting a flowbee I’m never going to a salon again.
Great tip!
My water filter from Amazon helps me in 2 ways....it helps me to save me buying the water bottles which is a huge savings....and it helps me to save in my health bc the water bottles are not good for yr health. They are super charged with oxygen that isn't good for yr health...too much in yr blood isn't really good....for u.😊😊😊
Dawn you're adorable and I love your channel. Thanks, -
You are so welcome!
My holistic dentist said brush with baking soda...most effective / cheap.
I have two pairs candles one for everyday one pair for going to doctors church etc I will be bringing my own snack coffee to my daughter rehabilitation sezsion
great tips! thanks for sharing, I have the same fan, not a/c but helps circulate the cool air. I use baking soda/bleach/vinegar/essential oils in place of cleaning supplies, so many "recipes" on line , easy to use, healthier, inexpensive and good for the environment. After my food processor broke, I began using a pastry cutter for the doughs, works great and not cleaning the machine, I saved by not buying a new one. I'm not familiar with the woolen balls for the dryer, how does that save money? thanks
Thanks for the info!
The clothes do not take as long to dry
@@CentsibleLivingWithMoneyMom thank you, I'm going to purchase them
Unfortunately my doggie doesn’t do budgets!
Ahhh
You can really harm your teeth with those dental kits. Proceed with caution.
I am not sure how to articulate this, but it seems like you never run out of saving tips. You would think that would be a topic where you would run out of ideas, but your ideas are endless.
I love you
I take my shoes off just inside my front door and put on slippers that I only wear inside. It cuts way down on mopping supplies and vacuuming. I rarely need to shampoo the carpet. My inside slippers save me a lot of time and money. Also, my 40 year-old tools and toolbox have saved me thousands of dollars. Most of the tools were used when I got them but I have added new things when needed.
What is the name of the flip flops? Did you say dogs? I googled but couldn't find them. TY
In her description box it says Ugg’s. And it also says out of stock
@@cjhoward409 the uggs don't look like the flip flops
DAWGS
@@CentsibleLivingWithMoneyMom Ah, thank you. I found them. I need decent cool, summer footwear.
Started making my noodles for soup, trying bread next, don’t use a dryer hang my clothes in basement or outside, made my own laundry detergent with zote soap bars, using my drip coffee maker cause Keurig cups were too expensive, cut down on my snack buying by making a dessert and freezing pieces, check out the stores near me to see who has the best deals, always check the clearance items in markets before paying regular prices; when I use my car I try to do as many errands in that one trip; I really enjoy making from scratch meals cause I know it’s better for me and I refuse to pay what they are charging when I know I can make it for less; enjoy your posts and ideas; you making all more conscious of what we can do🙏👍🫶
Awesome tips. You're the best, Dawn! Learned so much from this channel..
I only buy bottled water for possible emergencies, so I use my inexpensive water bottles that I put filtered water from our pitcher in (we have city water and our area has some problems). When it is a little chilly in a room we work in (husband and I both mostly work from home, but I have a good paying one day a week job outside the home), we don't turn on the furnace when weather is milder, we use a small portable heater to take the chill out and we dress warmer. We purchased a portable air conditioner that we use o ly in our bedroom instead of turning on central air, because that room gets too warm at night. We only have it on for a short while. I walk wherever I can and use my bike from time to time. I've gotten back into garment sewing and I sometimes repair items for friends or co-workers for a small fee and I have been mending our clothing more by replacing zippers and flipping over shirt collars and using the other side. If I find a clothing item I love that is too big but it's super cheap, I am able to take it in. I pretty much stopped buying clothes for myself for now. We look for deals on everything. We paid off both of our cellphones and signed up with tello.com. We pY $25 @ month for 2 phones, unlimited texts, to s of data and phone minutes (you choose whatever plan works best with your lifestyle)
Good tips!
