Pilot Lodge Runway Build Part 3
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 лис 2022
- We've been busy working on the Pilot Lodge! The runway is coming along well and we have certainly learned more about dirt work in the past few months than we ever wanted to know. Luckily winter is right around the corner and the ground will freeze up soon, making the runway solid for the winter and giving us a break from the outdoor work. This winter we have lots of indoor projects around the property, filming our multiengine course, training students, and beginning building more cabins for student housing for flight training this coming summer!
If you are interested in coming to Alaska to do some flight training let us know! Check out some of our training packages online here at fly8ma.com/flight-training/

Any guesses on what that aircraft is and what we're doing with it???
DC-3
What town are you closest to in Alaska?
Douglas DC-6
C 47
I'll guess a C-54! and thanks for the update!
Douglas DC-6!
DC-6 guest bunkhouse?!
Dude, my heart goes out to you!
Because you are willing to share the embarrassing parts of your adventure lots of us benefit from your efforts. Thank you!!!
I appreciate that!
"Crush & Run" - Grass will eventually grow on top of it. Stop thinking about the perfect grass first. Think solid base first.
From instructing at VNC to building an airport from the ground up. How time flies.
Whoever is flying that 180 looks like a bad ass!
hooray, happy to see there's an update! sorry to see it's kind of a swampy mess :/ it's a grand experiment.
11:30 epic shot grading with the snow.
This is definitely something I want to do for myself once I get my own land. I do worry about practicality and costs of all of this, though.
Nice 180 Happy Landings got lots to do .
You could grow some great crops in that soil.
Lime with.#6 #8 stone will give you a good base. Grade with a crown in the middle you need a laser level drainage pipe underneath to drain to the side. Claw foot roller for prep work.
Thanks for the tips!
My guy your a GENIUS
Douglas DC6
Hey, from Sky Ranch!
Glad to see the update Mike!
Yes 🙌
Look like a DC4 or 6 !
challenging and fun. Good job.
Definitely need some field tile laid under any material you surface it with.
That's a good tip! Trying to get by at the moment with drainage dirches...the runway has about 20' of fall over 1,000 length
Got that thank you watched okay
DC6
Nice to see you again. It looks like it is a DC3 ?
G,day Jon from Sydney Australia.
Well... If you can separate the small aggregate 'rocks' find some sandy material and purchase some Portland cement. Mix in a ratio 5 sand 3 aggregate 1 cement and fill the steel roller instead of water?

Hey bro' I'm not far from you (by the looks of the mountains) if you need a hand next summer with your strip I can help . I do have access to rock trucks, excavators and more located from Palmer to Pittman . I myself have cut 4 airstrips deep in the woods up pitman and willow areas. I like to fly and you have a plane . My family has a highly modified pa 12 firewall forward ,300 horse ,extended ailerons ,6inch lift on 33 tundra ,cross wind stol ext ,could possibly do work for you if you could take some them bad ass drone shots of our 12 doing short take offs and landing .that would be awesome.
That would be awesome. Come by and have a beer sometime and check out what we've got going on out here. 57AK is the identifier
Ok ✅
looks like a DC-6
DC-3, the one that was up near Glenallen?
looks like a retired DC6
Use lime rock
Maybe your going to use it to make a "guest house"?
Oooo...sounds like you've got some insider information 😉

DC 4
It's not a mistake, it's just learning. But I don't understand is why you don't just keep packing it? Probably that's a stupid question, but it seems to me if you just keep backing it it will eventually get firm. I don't know...
Are you up near Talkeetna? Where are you?
maybe you should've researched ANY of this before you attempted it... what kind of a pilot is this short sighted?
DC-3?
❣️🤗👍
Dc3
I would have rented a compactor first, you could make that dirt like concrete if you waited a few days. A sheep's foot will make it hard enough to build a building on.
Lol, yup...I'm slowly learning. After seeing that material go through freeze, thaw, and drought, it is good stuff, just needs the right moisture content and compaction
Hehe i’d be cheating if I answered… lol it’s been fun seeing the transition to you’re dream
Totally an uneducated guess but 🤔 fuselage to a DC3?
Pretty close!
What country is that in the snow
Alaska
Dc10
dc 6
Correct!
Where is this at?
Big Lake Alaska....57AK
I think you need to add Lime to your soil to make it hold together. May be you can find some inspiration from this film ua-cam.com/video/1s3kC6hVuro/v-deo.html&pp=ygU1S3VhbGEgTHVtcHVyIEFpcnBvcnQgUnVud2F5IENvbnN0cnVjdGlvbiBBcmNoaXZlIGZpbG0%3D
