Man made the Coca Cola... God made the fruit. The way our bodies work with fruit is a lot different from Coke. Out ancestors ate fruit... not soda pops, lol. I tried the Carnivore Diet for a couple of weeks and felt horrible. My heart started palpating and I couldn't sleep at all. (Before the Carnivore Diet, I was on the Keto Diet following Dr. Berg on UA-cam) Since I was feeling so horrible from Carnivore Diet, I chose to add fruit, raw dairy (goats milk) and a little raw honey. Now I am back to normal and have plenty of energy again and sleeping well. I saw Dr. Paul Saladino eating this diet I am now on and how healthy he is... so I gave it a try and I love it!

The statement you made about fruit in another video has been a game changer for me. You said that today's fruits have been bred to be so sweet and they are little sacks of sugar. As a diabetic this really resonated with me so I stopped having fruit on a daily basis. I occasionally have a couple of strawberries & that has had a huge impact on my A1C. It dropped from 6.2 to now 5.3 at my last dr visit. My dr reduced my insulin dose twice since the beginning of this year & said I am well on my way to reversing my diabetes. THANK YOU DR BERRY!!!!!

I stopped eating fruits in 2018, when I initially began the ketogenic way of eating, and have not had any fruit since. I just recently had blood work done (a week ago), and my Nurse Practioner says my labs looked great!
Of course, she's a bit concerned about the slightly "elevated" cholesterol levels. However, I informed her that - in my opinion - since I am NOT eating a traditional "western/American" diet, but do consume a LARGE amount of fatty red meats, that the cholesterol numbers were likely fine, and not to worry. I'll probably out-live her (I'm 60).
    Thanks Dr. Berry!

    @cwv9811 2 роки тому +22

First of all I rarely comment on any videos, but I have to say this one hits home. I have followed you along with several other doctors including Paul Saladino for many years. I like Paul a lot and feel like I’ve learned a great deal from him. I decided to go full strict Carnivore in January of 2020. My physical health certainly improved, but my mental health is where i saw the most significant changes. The deep sadness and depression I had lived with the majority of my 38 years had almost completely lifted along with the heavy anxiety attacks I would have daily. It was profound. About 4 months ago I decided to add in some fruits (organic blueberries, organic mango, ys eco bee farms organic raw honey). I valued Paul’s perspective and figured “why not”. At first I didn’t seem to notice much of a difference. I wasn’t bloated, my skin didn’t break out, my bowel movements remained somewhat similar. However sugar (at least for me and my body and brain) is a sneaky little devil. I found myself not wanting to get out of bed in the mornings, and distancing myself from all of my friends. I had bouts of extreme emotional distress even though nothing in my life had really changed. Without even realizing it I was back in a deep depression surrounded by the heaviness of anxiety. Also if that wasn’t heartbreaking enough I was now fully addicted to sugar again. Paul says seed oils are what makes you not be able to stop eating. I can tell you for an absolute fact he is wrong! I could never debate him or understand the science to his degree, but I do know my own body and mind better than anyone! I have not touched one drop of seed oils in over 3 years and I could not stop eating mangos or honey! I was eating up to a pound of honey per day it still took everything I had to put it back in the cupboard. I also ate so much mango (even when I wasn’t actually hungry). All I would think about when I wasn’t home was getting back and eating those foods. The cravings were insane. As smart as Paul obviously is, he is missing something extremely crucial here and is spreading misinformation to so many people! I have since then gone through all of the withdrawal symptoms and am back on a Carnivore diet again and finally feel like my life is coming back together. I’m out of bed early and am back around friends and participating in life. I appreciate you Dr Berry, your videos have been very valuable in my life!

A lot of people think fructose is less harmful than sucrose or glucose because it doesn't spike your insulin. They'll tell you how agave syrup is a healthy alternative to other sweeteners, among other lies.
What they don't tell you is that almost all of the fructose you ingest is metabolized by your liver, and if the liver can't metabolize it all, it turns that fructose to fat. This leads to fatty liver disease, visceral fat, and other health problems.
If the FDA, AMA, ADA and other 'health' organizations actually had our well being at heart, they would tell us to drastically slash or even eliminate all sugars, seed oils, processed foods and other crap from our diet.

A point about fructose and diabetes.
Diabetes is diagnosed by chronically high blood sugars, so lots of effort is expended in returning those glucose levels to a normal range. The reason it matters is that glucose is a vital nutrient, but is strictly controlled by the body because it also potentially damaging to every cell of it is too high.
Who cares if fructose doesn’t raise blood sugar levels? The real question is, does it damage cells? Yes, at about 7-10 times the rate of glucose.

Another pervasive myth about fruit is the one were they say that ancient fruits were somehow "healthier" than modern counterparts because of selective breeding and genetic modification. Ancient humans only ate fruit when it was in season and the biologically-adaptive imperative to eat it was because it triggered fat storage (by influcing our response to insulin, the primary fat storage hormone), and the extra fat stores helped us survive the cold, lean winter.

@@stigsrnning6459 Humans are not chimpanzees. According to the definitions offered by various animal science Phd.'s, humans can be classed as "facultative trophic carnivores."
Humans are an intellectually higher-order animals and are capable of using reason for our dietary choices. Although humans are not obligated to eat meat to survive, we thrive on diets that are heavy in nutritionally and calorically-dense, bioavailable meat, animal fats, and organs. Chimpanzees and Bonobos (our closest living relatives) are hypocarnivores as they obtain around 30% of their nutritional and caloric needs from eating other species of monkeys, rodents and, to a lesser degree, insects/invertebrates, and they seek-out and hunt for animal foods (even at times when the fruits they eat are ripe and in abundance). Their requirement for calorically and nutritionally dense food would only increase if thet were required to venture-out from the safety of the canopy, which our human ancestors did millions of years ago. The increase in human brain size is directly linked to hunting and our increased consumption of animals, as we were obligated to hunt for our prey as we travelled away from the abundance of fruit in the canopy..

The chimpanzee intestines showed a longer appendix, a much lower number of loops in the small intestine, and the large intestine had increased haustrations, as compared to humans. It is thought that reduction of the gut is a function of the higher-quality, easier to digest (i.e., less fibrous) diet of humans realtive to other apes, and that an evolutionary trend for gut reduction began when early members of the genus Homo began to incorporate a greater amount of animal tissues (muscle, marrow, fat, organs, brain matter, etc.) about 2.5 million years ago. Since gut tissue is metabolically expensive, the reduction of the gut may have allowed early members of our genus to devote greater metabolic energy to brain growth and maintenance, thus relaxing a constraint on the evolutionary increase in brain size ( an idea known as the "expensive tissue hypothesis": Aiello & Wheeler, 1995). It has also been suggested that cooking, which breaks down plants fiber (cellulose and lignin) and connective tissue in meat (collagen) allowed early humans to extract more nutrients from foodstuff with less digestive effort, thus also contributing to an evolutionary reduction in (shortening of) energetically expensive gut tissue.
Our primitive ancestors digestive systems would slowly evolve over time to be specialized toward a more meat-heavy diet. You only need to examine our current digestive system in comparison to our closest living relatives to witness this. In humans, the small intestine is about 6 meters or 20 feet long and the large intestine is about 1.5 meters or 5 feet long. The gastrointestinal tracts of the Chimpanzee, Orangutan, and adult human and a human fetus were studied and compared by Stevens and Hume in 1995.
"The chimpanzee intestines showed a longer appendix, a much lower number of loops in the small intestine, and the large intestine had increased haustrations, as compared to humans. Herbivores have specialized digestive systems equipped to process certain plant species that these animals have eaten since their evolutionary beginnings, always keeping up pace with the slow evolutionary changes and adapting to any defensive mutation the plant may develop over an evolutionary timeline. Ruminant digestive systems are one example of a highly-specialized fibrous plant matter digestive system.

It accesses the glucose in the blood first and once it has used all of that it uses fat which can include your stored body fat, which is why people get slimmer when eating a low carb diet. My weighing scale isn't moving much at the moment but I am losing inches around parts of my body. It only 9 months I've gone from a 44" waist to 38" without even trying. I follow what my body craves mostly but dont eat any junk foods or fried foods. Its not as black and white as science tells you

You should openly debate CarnivoreMD. He is pro carnivore+fruits. He eats a TON of fruit everyday. We are talking an entire pineapple, mango and a couple bananas for breakfast. That's alot of carbs and sugar.
Ironically, his blood panel numbers improved since doing it. He has a video where he shows us.
I have also started eating alot of watermelon on a daily basis (I live in Las Vegas so I tend to feel dehydrated even after drinking water and electrolytes). I still continue to lose weight since doing so. I'm actually down now from 140 to 138 by incorporating watermelon, a full squeezed lemon and ACV at breakfast, and sometimes apples. I also feel more satiated and have more energy for working out.

same for me after incorporating green smoothies with greens and berries I got my blood sugar from 101 to 70 in less than year…I think that fruits and only fruits diet can improve health very quickly as they can cleanse but its when the fruits are eaten at the wrong times or too often with cooked foods or too close to other foods that it can mess us up for example like America makes it okay to eat fruit with a sandwich and chips as lunch and thats just not good …watermelon is amazing and I love it fresh green juices and fruit juices have helped so many ppl heal auto immune diseases but the average person isnt going to just eat fruit and green juice only and nothjng else to heal so it is what it is I do agree with Dr. Berry in that fruit can hinder so its best to understand nutrition and when and how to properly eat fruits

It's because fruit isn't bad for you. Majority of people can tolerate it with no significant adverse effects and there's even cases of diabetics reversing their condition eating fruit. The people that can't tolerate it are the exception and there's something wrong with their metabolic function. Can't blame the fruit, that would be like a person with broken legs blaming walking and exercise for worsening their condition. A lot of these carnivore gurus also call the mechanistical data/science as facts, but they're not facts at all as we're still studying how human physiology works on different individuals on a microscopic level. It's a theory or educated guess. Simple clear results are more accurate. Most people after eating fruit benefit from it, especially if they're healthy individuals.

Back in the 90s, I attended OA (Overeaters Anonymous) with a partner. I'm finding myself wondering if fruit is part of the reason that the program often failed. We were encouraged to eat a piece of fruit for breakfast - and to pick the biggest and juiciest one we could find.
That and the fact that the base of the diet was two pounds of vegetables per day. Some vegetables are very high in sugar and I noticed that many members tended to focus on those vegetables.

Juicy and aromatic fruit has a very high satiation levels which is so important if you have problems with overeating. It makes you feel fuller. That's probably why it was recommended. Not sure what your aim was- but as an overeater myself (I used to be anorexic/bulimic and this damaged my brain-stomach-brain response) I would say their way of thinking was sort of right. Adding loads of veg's and some fruit to the diet would make a difference for somebody addicted to junk food.

This is true we shouldnt over do it on fruit but if you take person A who eats 60grams of sugar from donuts and honey buns every day and person B who gets the same amount from fruit they will definitely look feel and perform very differently. Just like protein from steak is very different from pea protein or egg protein etc. Just like not all fats are created equal sugar fructose and glucose react differently in our bodies
