This one gave me chills. I met a guy on my public transport route to work who said the same thing to me about how ‘I’ve been watching you’. Anyone giving you too much attention at the start of any interaction with you, such as staring you down or making remarks like this… get away, run! Gut instinct is usually right especially with narcissists!

Most of us are not in any way appealed to by these types (this is Judy btw). If you are a well adjusted and self determined person these types know it right away and will steer clear! They seem able to sense any sort of weakness or insecurity. Unfortunately too many times this interaction leads to tragedy!

When I was around 18, a guy who came out of nowhere just walked next to me and asked "Where are you going?" I replied it was none of his business. He said: "I want to know, wherever you go I will go too and you won't go anywhere without me knowing!"
I said "alright, you know where I'm going? Straight to the police station." and turned around to head exactly there. Luckily he ran, then.
But the most horrible thing is, that I've since seen women being intimidated but they would deem it rude if they would oppose such kind of cavemen behaviour. And I wonder how they must have been raised.

One of the main reasons I think why this case still resonates so much in the UK is that it was heavily featured on the British TV series "Crimewatch". It was well known for its crime reconstructions, which were all the more chilling because they captured just how banal and day-to-day a lot of crime is. There was no attempt to make it seem theatrical. I was 9 at the time and I remember being very scared by it all.

    Lamplugh: Pronounced "LampLooo"
    Thanks for analyzing this case.
The question I have always had about this case:
Where did Cannan stay in London,
in the days or weeks between his release from the day hostel,
and when he returned to Bristol?
None of the documentaries ever mention that.
He must have had some indoor area in order to rape and kill her,
unless that was all done in his car?
I only wonder because that's where all the forensic evidence would be maybe even to this day.

    • @maxinehayes7721
      @maxinehayes7721 2 роки тому +2

The police may be withholding some evidence in order to secure a conviction one day.
There’s lots of green spaces around the area that he could have taken her, even driven back to Bristol/Bath.

Of course she's gunna say she's in a controlling relationship but let's not forget that the true victims here are Holly and Jessica and I am sure that if you asked heir families whether Carr should have been released after 3 1/4 years they'll tell you exactly how they feel. Carr played on being the vulnerable woman and played the judge to her advantage.

The information about the kind of ‘honeymoon phase’ is something I’ve never heard discussed before and it really strikes a chord for me in explaining what may have happened. I tend to agree that the Crown wouldn't pursue this since he's already locked up.
I recall another case of a female disappearing in Scotland and the police and CPS persevered for 14 years to get (and sustain at retrial) a murder conviction against her husband despite no body having been found. The lady was Arlene Fraser, her husband's called Nat. It's interesting. Parts of the trial are on UA-cam (it's very rare to have court footage of a British case, so that's interesting in itself).
