WARNING :
Ya'll might be interested in playing the canon of Vengeance first, but there's a superboss that only appears in the Vengeance route if you do the Creation route's true neutral ending first and go into Vengeance route on NG+. This superboss unlocks something mandatory for those who want all the trophies. So keep that in mind if you wanna minimize the playthroughs you'll have to do.
The two canons interact with each other in other ways like a superboss in Creation route needing an item from Vengeance route to show his true strength.
So there will be some back and forth between routes to see everything and get the platinum trophy.

I'm getting all 6 endings anyway so I am still doing CoV first then go do CoC True Neutral my 2nd run then go get the 2nd ending for CoV my 3rd run so *shrugs*

@@junpei6180 It's not "just" a single super boss. It also unlocks something need for the platinum. So it's pretty important to point out for those who want to platinum the game in an efficient way.
@@PKWhopper Yeah, i think you can do that as long as you beat the Vengeance exclusive superboss on your second CoV run (wich will be your 3rd run).
As a time Traveller from the year 2036 I can say, SMT7 was decent, but the main event has really been that SMT2 remake 💯.
As a time traveller from 2050 smt7 was oke but smt 8 was fire and smt 9 is looking good and smt 3 remake

It wasn’t that bad, the Law ending was pretty bad I’ll give you that (and the Jack Frost redesign made me want to redesign my holomonitor) but the Chaos and Neutral stories well make up for it. And the SMT2 remake really makes up for any grievances. Besides 7 was never going to live up to 6 or Devil Survivor 3, it was good enough.

I know I'm sort of screwing myself over by getting the switch version, but I feel like I'm going to be using it a lot on handheld once I beat the game and start building demons.

Same. Also, idk but I just don't tend to enjoy turned based battles on a bigger screen. The 3DS and switch were just perfect for me. Easier to focus on them when the screen is closer to my face instead of searching around on a big ol TV screen. And I also have a PS5, so I could play it on there, I just don't want to.
@@ZeroPrime_Reviewshonestly you’re missing out because the game looks very beautiful on the ps5 and runs a full 60 fps. With that being said you’re probably going to have to wait for a rerelease of Smt 5 on the next gen switch if you want better graphical fidelity while taking advantaging of the portable factor, it definitely sucks that Nintendo couldn’t have just released the next gen switch sooner when we needed it the most.

Because its just an opinion? And TBH, the music is not that good/memorable. I wouldn't call the music on SMTV incredible, because in all honesty, it just isn't. I fail to remember a single track from the entire game that caught my attention. The music is the game's weakest point IMO.

Yess consecutive battles keeps your omagatoki critical skills active which I find amazing for grinding. Especially since you can get a skill that makes consecutive battles happen more often
Honestly, I respect the opinion of those (extremely vocal) gamers who abhor anything else other than constant 60FPS, but personally, when I play an RPG my mind is on art design, music, story and combat.
The constant, incessant complaining regarding Switch performance is valid to an extent, but wildly overblown, as well.

too true, SMT V ran just fine on the switch, however playing on my pc i might notice the lower powered nature of the switch going back to it but really that isnt much of an issue for turn based combat rpgs
i have it preinstalled and waiting, i still want a physical version for the switch , vanilla or vengeance

It's cute that you think SMT VII will be out by 2036. We'll be lucky if it's even announced.
Menus and exploration feel a lot more stable in this updated switch version from what I’ve played. There’s still pop in and the dynamic resolution if that matters, but overall it feels much better to play.
Could just be my imagination. Imma get it on switch because I rarely have time to sit in front of my TV anymore. Can’t have time sinks relegated to my PS5 unfortunately.

if i’ve only played the modern persona games (3reload, 4, 5royal) should i buy this? I’ve been thinking about it all week but idk if I’ll really enjoy it or not since it looks so much different from what i’ve played. I guess what I’m asking is if SMTVV is something that newcomers to the series would enjoy.
SMT V is definitely the most accessible in the series to newcomers, especially with all of the quality of life improvements in Vengeance
Smt V is a pretty good jumping off point for mainline smt. The main differences between the games is that It's tougher than modern persona (though i think there's an easy mode) and has a less character focused story. SMT focuses a lot on the atmosphere of its world. I have no idea how good Vengeance's story will be though.
As long as you don’t play on hard and save often you’ll be good. If you enjoy persona combat at all it’s basically that but way better with a large overworld to explore unlike persona
I think it’s a good starting point, overall gameplay is pretty good and addicting. The combat was so much fun, but the story of SMT V was kinda not good for me😅 I didn’t feel attach to any character like in the persona series, and everything felt so rushed.

SMT as a whole is less character driven than Persona, with most characters usually being one dimensional in every game. The only exception is Shin Megami Tensei 4 because that game was built different. But don’t expect to get attached to the characters playing a mainline game because they’re an afterthought meant solely for your alignment.
Does the convos with aogami make your character op with all those skill points you get ? In one of the atlus videos he had like 4 convos back to back and got like 6 skill points
Most likely, because it's extra skill points given to the Nahobino for a more easy run throughout the game

Is any of the DLC content from the base game in this release or is it all gone? Im kinda wondering if buying this a second time is worth it
As far as any of the promotional content has shown, all of the original release's DLC (sans the Mitama DLC I think) is included as part of Vengeance. As a result, they now have new DLC you can purchase for Vengeance that's completely new. Like how P5 Royal had all of the original P5's DLC as free side content you could opt into if you wanted.
The demons are in the base game. The mitamas are still paid
The original DLCs are included in the game, the new DLCs with new demons and such are paid for

this is probably dumb to ask but how is the difficulty of this game compared to persona? this game is getting alot of hype but i've never played one and don't want to jump into something too hard
The base game id say is pretty Intermediate. Attacks tend to hit pretty hard and there are a fair amount of times that you’ll have to change your stats but theres consumable items in the shop and they’re absolutely CRACKED against bosses if your run out of SP for an elemental weakness. Of course I can’t speak for Vengeance as I haven’t played that, but since it’s essentially an expansion I’m willing to bet it’s about the same. It’s definitely not ball bustingly difficult like Nocturne and the first hour wasn’t a nightmare like IV’s first dungeon.
started Vengeance on normal and well smt v was touch and go start what with macca being tight and required to heal, the auto dlc healing item trivializes the first 5 levels or so before money evens out in Vengeance
Do you like actually using your head when it comes to boss fights? If not then these games are not for you my friend.
They're piss easy if you're quick to understand the mechanics but will punish the more zoomer brained folks

Glad they didn't half-ass the switch port and actually made it run better. Although imo I think some animations weren't meant to run at 60 frames so shit kinda freaks out every now and then, namely nahobino's hair
I always thought smt5 as very solid in gameplay, however the major thing that held it back were the lack of character and story, so hoping that they did improve it
If I never played the original route, do you recommend starting with that one or start with the new Vengeance Route?

Listen when you've spent a good chunk of your teenage years emulating games cause you couldn't own the system they were released for, you learn a thing or two about frame rates and resolution quality and trust me that shit bothers me profusely.
My eyes are forever tainted bro. It's 60 frames and atleast a 2K resolution or nothing at all for me these days lol

Its cool seeing all this new content , it only make us realize that this game shouldnt have been a switch exclusive, i hope the next games dont get that same treatment.
Played until Hydra, I'm liking it so far. They actually fixed the level scaling. I actually beat Hydra at lower level and without grinding too much, holy shit. I like the qol stuff, they definitely made me progress faster than I thought I would, though it'll surely will make some people bark due to how easy you could level up during the first part of the game even without relying on the Mitama dlc.

Little late to the party, but I recently platted the PS5 version. I love it! Playing it on a system that can properly handle the Unreal engine makes a world of difference performancewise and makes the experiance much more enjoyable. The new story route is really good, with both new endings being worth it. For a really fun time, talk to Pixie and Demi-Feind after you defeat him, you will not regret it!
For me, the music was the best part of vanilla SMT V.

But yeah, Vengeance basically sounds like what vanilla V should've been. I look forward to getting it when I can :)
I love the game it has all my favorite demons and angels in it from 3 and non.of the stupid new game plus mechanics.
Only annoing part is when demons gain stats at the resting place you have to save and reload to get the desired stats same goes for leveling up.
I wish they would let you pick what stats you want,but for the rest its a fun challanging game.
Luckely you can mostly choose youre own charc stats
I’m currently playing and the last SMT I played was innocent sin on psp. I’m enjoying it so far. I really wish we could’ve chosen a male or female protag but that’s minor.
I'm playing it on Switch cause framerate and resolution dips dont bother me. Its a fun game, that's all that matters.

It's funnier to play in handheld for some. I played SMTV on Switch and yes there are some performance issues and yes Nintendo should release a new console.
That said, I just hope 120fps and perfect performance when I play Elden Ring. For a turn based animu game I can live without smooth 120fps

All you people talking about the Switch version are nuts. This game was held back so much by Switch hardware for the OG version, my only qualm about the game was it being held back by the Switch. I'm playing it on PC and Steam Deck, it's a have your cake and eat it scenario. I get to play the game in 4k120fps and also get to play it portably when I need that.
Imagine having to wait for switch 2 hardware just to play smtvv for performance
That doesn't sound like "have your cake and eat it too", since the point of that phrase is that you can't have a cake while it's already eaten. I think "best of both worlds" would be more accurate.
But otherwise yeah I agree, seems more like the people saying Switch is fine are just coping (like usual).
I have both pc and switch. I bought it on switch cause portability. I really don't care about graphic. This is a game i really dont care. Now if you talked about heavy action game i will only buy in my pc. I see great graphic as a bonus.

Save points were literally never an issue anyway in base 5. This isn't nocturne
