Mr. Friedman, I’m not sure of the purpose of this interview. You seem tuned in to the present turmoil regarding “democracy” in Israel. But when a topic examines outright atrocities committed by Israel, you feign ignorance or “haven’t thought about that “! Your tenure at the NYT needs no further explanation!
I suggest Mr. Friedman to write about the 2.5 to 3 million people who died (in excess) from 1991 to 2001 in Russia. He can also chose to write about the 3 to 7 million who died in all the former soviet republics. This is the second time I'm hearing Mr. Friedman and he seems to be a positive force. I should say, though, that he is an American - and probably someone whose earnings put him on the top 10% and therefore he has no contact with real life like everybody on that tier. Very interesting interview. I epuld like to comment two points: - the analogy holocaust / Nakba is not fair. Holocaust was not planed by Palestinians against Jews, but Nakba was executed by zionist Jews (Israelis) against Palestinians but they are denying it. - they both want all yeah, but one side got already almost all and continuously keeps grabbing more and it's not because of the extremists that they can stop at any time but there is a consensus about expansion in Israel and such policies never stopped under all Israeli left, center or right wing leaders.
The Arabs included the Palestinians were planning to snuff out and exterminate the nascent Jewish state, they actually proclaimed it loud and clear, it was a fight for survival .
Friedman is a simpleton. His writings are shallow. The only thing big about this Jewish fellow is his sense of self importance. Pity really because he does show some potential.
