Toto: 40 Tours Around the Sun
"Für mich sind Toto die besten Musiker auf dem Planeten", sagt Gitarrist Eddie Van Halen. 1978 erscheint ihr Debütalbum. 2018 feiern sie 40 Jahre mit einem Best-of-Album und einer Welttournee.
"For me, Toto are the best musicians on the planet," says guitarist Eddie Van Halen. Her debut album was released in 1978. In 2018, they celebrate 40 years with a best-of album and a world tour.
Toto's concert was on March 17th 2018 at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam.
    Band members:
    Steve Lukather: Vocals, guitar
    David Paich: Vocals, Keyboards
    Steve Porcaro: Keyboards
    Joe Williams: Vocals
    Shannon Forrest: Drums
    Lenny Castro: Percussion
    Shem von Schroeck: Bass
    Warren Ham: Saxophon, Choir
    Lyrics:
I hear the drums echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
    She's coming in, 12: 30 flight
The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation
I stopped an old man along the way
Hoping to find some long forgotten words or ancient melodies
He turned to me as if to say, "Hurry boy, it's waiting there for you"
It's gonna take a lot to take me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had
The wild dogs cry out in the night
As they grow restless, longing for some solitary company
I know that I must do what's right
As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti
I seek to cure what's deep inside, frightened of this thing that I've become
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had
Hurry boy, she's waiting there for you
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa
    (I bless the rain)
I bless the rains down in Africa
    (I bless the rain)
I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa
    (Ah, gonna take the time)
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had

As a combat veteran, I have to say that this song contains one of that greatest lyrics of all time. "I seek to cure what's deep inside, frightened of this thing that I've become." Some of the things I did, in the service of my country, haunt me to this day. Hopefully, God will forgive me. I haven't been able to forgive myself.

Ruby, I have high respect for veterans. Your sacrifices, what you have endured in active combat, the atrocities you have experienced… to me, there is nothing that God needs to forgive you for. We ask the unthinkable from our military. By the nature of your comment, it’s clear you have a heart filled with compassion.
I’m certainly not a religious person, but, if there is actually a Heaven, you and your military brothers and sisters who saw active combat have all earned a spot there. No doubt about it.
      Complete respect for you !!!!

no it's true... America is going to hell... sad but true... so many people wanting to change everything this country used to stand for and they don't seem to understand the changes they're trying to make happen are what separates America from the rest of the world, makes it better... if they'd make the effort to live in one of the countries they seem to like so much, with fewer rights and privileges, i'd bet they'd stop trying to make the changes they are
and yes i realize this seems to have turned into a political rant, not what i was trying for... but it applies to music, movies, the entertainment industry in general... they cant just try to make something that sounds good, looks good, has meaning... they have to try pushing an agenda down everyone's throat and tell them how they're supposed to think

It doesn't seem to matter what version of the band is on stage. It's always the perfect combination. Listen to all the different versions of Africa from 1982, all through the different drummers, bass players, vocalists, Sklar, Phillips, East, Jeff Procaro, Mike Porcaro, Forrest, No David, yes David, no Steve Procaro, yes Steve Porcaro, Philligaines, etc etc... It's always the same sound, the same superb performance, Close your eyes and it's almost impossible to identify the year and personnel that's playing. Proof of an example of the perfect band.

The Porcaro brothers were something else.. so sad that only one, Steve, is left. Jeff & Mike are both passed away. Such a timeless band...

That is one of the best sounding drum kits I’ve ever heard, snare and China cymbals are just perfect. The sound engineer for this show should get an award. This is real music right here. Musicians playing real instruments and singing

I'm totally impressed how well they did. The Keyboard player is deaf in 1 ear because he recovered from a brain tumor but the surgery caused the lose of hearing in the ear. They are incredible and has had a lot of tragedy however they keep going even today.
