@billyyank1916 My consistency is all over the place, but this whole blowing up from a random video thing has shown me I need to rethink my how I’ve done things lately
@@WhoNeedsNormalrevisiting Winnie the Pooh piglet memories and adventuring through those as piglet like how they realise he played a big part in all of those
The dark ambient tracks in this game’s OST are so overlooked. They legit sound like something out of Silent Hill. This game was really like no other because it was like a horror game aimed at kids. I know it freaked me out lmao.
The creators of the game weren’t allowed to know anything about the content of the movie. Because at the time film studios were very secretive. Disney just wanted a product to go alongside the movies release. So they made this gem.
In case you don't know, after completing each one of the 6 levels, you can go back and capture all the heffalumps and woozles that run away. There's a time limit in each room that has Heffalumps/Woozles. If you don't capture the Heffalumps/Woozles in time, you'll have to leave the room and go back to it.
The final boss being much weaker than you'd expect but coming at you fast is such a good message about anxiety and fears that's easy for a child to digest. Piglet spends the whole game working his way through tougher and scarier opponents, growing stronger and more confident, but the thing he was so worried about in the first place wasn't as big as he thought it was. He was so much stronger, but just didn't know it.
Saw this game on twitter and immediately thought ‘this game would be a banger video essay topic’ Needless to say I am happy this showed up in my recommended
Honestly the craziest thing about this game was that apparently according to one of the devs himself, this WAS meant to essentially be a horror game for preschoolers. So none of the eerie moments were accidental it would seem
This game was pretty much baby’s first Silent hill or Resident evil. The creepy soundtrack, the dream levels slowly becoming nightmares as you progress, it’s atmospheric and wasn’t like any other game at the time.
This game sounds good, especially because I’m a Pooh Bear fan. That story at the end was so sweet! Honestly, kids need to be more encouraged in video games. Nowadays, they play it way too safe.
Everyone's like "oh this games so scary, why is it so creepy? Its for kids?" But as a person who loved but was regularly scared shitless of the cartoons as a child I understand, its on point, this is just how pooh is. These characters are regularly subjected to the horrors, been like that as long as they've been animated.
The movies from this era, "Search for Christopher Robin," "The Tigger Movie,"' and "Piglet's Big Movie" were genuinely traumatizing. I was introduced to the concept of death at 4 with Winnie the Pooh being trapped in a cave in. I don't know what the Disney Company was thinking with the IP at this time, but I love it all the same.
This is INSANE to me because as a kid, I would watch gameplays of the game. I so VAGUELY remember it. It’s so eerie and creepy how I remember it, I can’t explain it. Find out that other people had this experience is so validating.
It’s crazy how the Silent Hill 2 remake used music from this game. I never played this game as a kid despite being a Winnie the Pooh fan. But I think I’ll try to find a GameCube copy of it.
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE TERRIFIED OF THE BATTLE SEQUENCES! I only ever made it to the first battle sequence on pooh's level and would turn off the gamecube in terror once it began
I didn't think this was a real game when I saw the clips on Twitter. I thought it was someone doing a Petscop style thing now that Pooh is in the public domain.
If it makes you feel any better about your childhood story, when I was a kid, Spiderman was my favorite superhero ever, so my parents got me Spiderman 2 on the PS2. However, I didn't like violence at all, so any time you had to fight someone, I'd give the controller to my dad, only to snatch it back as soon as the battle was over. I only wanted to swing around the city and collect things. I would cry and become inconsolable any time Spiderman died (usually from fall damage), professing that I had killed him. My dad would even press continue for me to make him respawn and prove he was alright, but by that point I'd be too upset and he'd have to turn off the game XD
I appreciate that. I look back at it now and cringe a little at the quality, but I made it with an old Blue Snowball mic and edited it with ShareFactory on the PS4 lol.
Nice to see this game get more attention. I highly doubt this, but I would love a remake or rerelease for this gem. Especially after Epic Mickey got a remake.
I remember when Disney went nuts rereleasing a buttload of old PC games on Steam and GOG. From _Tron 2.0_ to _Toy Story 3_ to _Bolt._ As well as emulator-wrapped rereleases of some of their classics from the Nintendo and Super Nintendo. Some LucasArts employee must have ended up in an important position after the Lucasfilm buyout. We haven't seen much from them since, likely because there's not much left in their back catalog that would be easy to get running on modern systems, but the _Epic Mickey_ remaster gives me hope that this person is still out there pulling whatever strings they can.
So, I had actually FORGOTTEN about this game. I played it when it first game out back when I was a kid and I totally forgot just how creepy this game was, and it’s probably why I never played too much of it. I heard someone else say it best, it was Silent Hill for kids. Thanks for the upload! Happy to now remember this.
And to think that it’s becoming popular again is crazy to me,loved this game even though it used to freak me out as a kid and had to get my mum to play it for me.
I saw this after seeing gameplays on here and on twitter and i cant belive i never played this, but this game is crazy how it references silent hill 2. I hope this gets popular.
came here from the spongebob video and HOOOO BOY im glad someone's talking about this game. i have no nostalgic connection to this game besides wanting it as a kid and never getting it and playing its sequel rumbly tumbly adventure, but i found myself enjoying this game so much at 22. it's really good at being a kids game and it's good at being a game for adults too. the narration and lack of reading makes it the perfect game for a small child, and it's basically asmr for an adult. i must admit that it's better than rumbly tumbly adventure just simply because of the varied environments and that makes my nostalgia blind self sad but hey!! two games!! woohoo. if you like pbg you should play rta it's less surreal and more grounded if you're into that. more asmr. i also love winnie the pooh and find the whole thing comforting so maybe im biased??? also thank you for mentioning the music i swear to god it's okay ingame but listening to that shit alone is like... what is this shit. why is it so terrifying. anyways yeah i was terrified of bits of rta as a kid so your heffalump and woozle fear wasnt like. unjustified. unless im also a coward idk. also you didnt mention the post-level sequences where you can revisit levels and chase the heffalumps and woozles and kill them by touching them. it's surprisingly hard at some points because god i suck at chasing things down
That Phoenix Studio at the end apparently also tried to pitch Ubisoft a prototype for a Rayman 4 that was rejected in favor of Rayman Raving Rabbids (I'm a bit of a Rayman fan and have known this for years). They also worked on the PSP port of the Peter Jackson's King Kong game and a few games on Ubisoft's Petz series.
Damn, I just realized you beat me to uploading a review of this game by just one day, that's pretty insane. Solid review though, this game is genius and deserves way more attention than it got!
I never played this but I played RTA as a child and when Pooh's stomach rumbled when entering an area... You KNEW it was getting serious. The enemies terrified me
This was and still is one of my favorite childhood games. Piglet's Big Game is certainly a hidden gem. I replayed this game after a long time when I set it aside as a kid. I remembered loving it and beating back in the day, so I replayed it and I was mind blown by how creative this game was. I always heard people being afraid of this game when they were kids, but I wasn't really too scared of it since I was into light scary themes. I enjoyed watching Courage the Cowardly Dog back then so that probably got me prepared. My favorite level was Eyore's Dream as I was into haunted levels. Looking back at this game made me really glad I got to experience it during my childhood. Great job with the video. This special game definitely needs to be more well-known to people.

A game I would love to see you look at is the video game for the first Madagascar movie it’s a game I played a ton as a kid and I think it’s better than most people give it credit for most reviews I can find just call it a typical licensed 3D platformer and not much else but I think the game is a hidden gem but who knows maybe I’m just blinded by nostalgia
I found this vid while going through a playlist of all the “foreboding” ost’s in the game. The unintentional horror is so good, the last time I even got a off putting feeling like that was when I explored the darker areas of subnautica for the first time.
I owned the GBA version of this when I was really little; seeing this video, I'm shocked to find out how much the devs strived for parity between the lead platform and handheld versions; I'd have expected the two to differ drastically in mechanics and level design like most multiplatform titles of the era (especially with it being a licensed game for younger audiences), but based on what you showed here, it looks like the GBA version was a direct low-spec recreation; a "de-make", if you prefer. Interesting to see that sort of effort here, of all places. That said, I'd be willing to bet that the main game controled a lot better than the one I grew up with; I remember having really mixed feelings about the game because the GBA version's controls were stiff as hell and Piglet's movement speed was painfully slow. Anyway, thanks for the trip down memory lane; I was practically raised on 5th and 6th gen licensed games like this, lol. I also enjoyed your Revenge of the Flying Dutchman video, by the way; it was kind of a relief to find out that my multiple PS2 copies refusing to load wasn't due to me having scratched the discs like I'd originally thought as a kid. If I were to offer one point of criticism, though: I'd recommend shortening the amount of time spent discussing/listing specific menu options in the future; it kind of hurts the pacing of the video and doesn't feel all that necessary in understanding the topic as a whole. Regardless, I'm looking forward to seeing more content from you, going forward; I love seeing weird and obscure games revisited from a modern perspective, especially the licensed stuff.
Thanks man and I'll keep that in mind. I wouldn't have discussed the menu as much if I didn't find the mechanics of it interesting. Next time I'll think twice
@@WhoNeedsNormal To be fair, I totally get it; that style of playable menu spaces is an interesting design choice that you don't really see much of outside of that specific era; I just felt like the details could have been condensed a bit. Anyway, cool vids overall!

Yeah I totally understand. Thanks!
My fave horror game :)

Pfft, of Course UA-cam recommends me this video now
This game seems really fun. I think kid me would've really liked it. It's quite imaginative and atmospheric.
Here's an obscure game that you can talk about.
Catdog and the Quest for the golden hydrant.
I love love love that game!!

Crazy how UA-cam suggest me to watch this review after a 20-year-old game is getting viral
I don't have the game nor have I ever played it, but I'm going to watch a full playthrough of it as soon as I can just to fully understand and see for myself why this game has unsettled people.
