Just watched this for the second or third time. I was in the middle of putting on my top coat. My class medium had started to thicken and it wasn’t working well. I just watched this again, and saw that you added so well water. I went back to my painting. Poured a bit of water onto the canvas. Moved things around and was able to pour what was own there. Mixed some water into my gloss medium in the cup. Tilted and it went right over the edges? WOW! THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO. SAVED THE DAY AND THE AGGRAVATION!
Thank you so much Julie for ALL of your videos. You've brought painting to my life! Me - creating paintings?! I SO appreciate you sharing your experience, trials and errors, knowledge! I also really enjoy seeing the wildlife (and indoor furry friends) you share with us. Such fun - ALL of it!
Thank you, thank you , thank you! I’ve been going back & watching some of your past videos. I started pouring in March and have ruined more pretty paintings then I can count due to incorrect varnishing. I followed your instructions to the letter & I have FINALLY produced a finish painting w no cracking, brush streaks etc!! I’ve watched several outstanding artist and varnished according to what they do but your method is the only one that worked for me! Once again....thank you , you awesome Aussie! Rita , from Oklahoma
I've been watching your videos Julie for nearly 2 years and I missed this one all together. I just learned why I have that interesting cracking on all my paintings. My view is always if just the right amount is good, more must be better. I've been totally over dosing my paintings with thick varnish. I'm just today learning about Liquitex's product name changes. I can not wait to start using a new and improved varnishing technique. You're the best !!
Thanks for reposting some of your earlier work! I have only been watching UA-cam and pouring/ resin art this last year. You are one of my absolute faves and I have learned so much! And love your friendly cheerful manner.
This is strange, I am not seeing either thumbs up or down. I actually felt terrible for this artist as no one seemed to like or dislike her work, except for the comments section. So strange that the likes/dislikes aren't showing. This woman is as game as Ned Kelly, just bravely forges ahead in front of everyone. I am so glad I watched one of her posts, now I can't stop, it's a good thing she's prolific!
Thanks for showing a way to finish. It turned out so lovely. You explain very well, so that makes it easy to understand. Huggles Always 👩🎨💖🎨🎶⭐🦓👍🇺🇸 Liz in California
I'm so happy this video popped up. I was just looking at gloss medium the other day but didn't buy it because I didn't know it. Thank you for sharing this info.
Ty for showing us. It came out beautiful! I don’t remember this pour. The blue one is the first of yours I did n I love it. Maybe I’ll try the colorful one. Ty again. You’re a great teacher n easy to watch! Ty again
Thanks for recommending the gloss medium. The colors really popped on this painting. I've cut cardboard to use on the back of my larger canvases to keep the surface level limit pooling.
I am so glad you did this video with varnish. I've been doing it all wrong. I end up leaving brush strokes in my varnish. I'm also going to get different different varnish.
That is so helpful. I don't like brush strokes either. I would rather waste a little medium just to get a superior look. Thanks. P.S. That compressible support for the canvas was brilliant. Have to remember that.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and talents. This is so helpful. By the way, the multicoloured one is one of my favourites of yours. Thank you
I have been following your art video and I want to so badly to get your results. I think I use too much paint and I use the 8 by 12 canvas. They are only 1.00 at the dollar store. Many people do not have the extra money but the health and mental aspects are amazing. Thank you for sharing your gifts.
I'm not sure why you're using a medium to seal a painting. While it will put a shine on the piece it won't protect it as a straight varnish will. Varnish has hardliners in it that seal the surface, whereas the medium is porous. The trick with varnish is to use a soft artificial brush, gently apply in one direction, and then back again, and then leave it alone. The temptation to go back over missed spots is usually the cause of brush marks. Since you're applying 3-4 coats any missed spots will get covered on the next coat. I do use gloss mediums but mix them into paints to add pop to a flat color. When I first started painting, eons ago it seems, I did use the medium gloss varnish (after all it said varnish on the label) but the operative word was actually 'medium'. Had a bunch of painting getting dirty and found the dust was down in the pores of the medium top coat. Finally got them cleaned up and applied a straight varnish. From then on I was able to just wipe them with a soft damp cloth to clean. So I'm a straight varnish convert for sure.
Thank you for sharing...I usually resin but looking for another way instead of resining every piece so Im going to give this a try. Can I ask if you have a tutorial of this canvad...I love it!
That turned out beautiful! Thanks for the good clear instructions. I saw another video where the artist used a roller to apply the varnish.. are there any benefits or risks in doing that?
I just discovered your channel & instantly subscribed. Is there anyway I can get the date or link to the two paintings you used in this video? You introduced the two paintings at about 3:34 mins into the video. One was blue, the other was multicolored & your first glue & water pours. They are are absolutely stunning! I'm relatively new to pour painting & am ready to begin expanding my pours. I looking forward to following your future creations.

To the thumb's down voters - what could you possibly NOT like in this excellent video?
Ellie DePrima, don’t feed the trolls. Some people would down thumb a video of Jesus curing the sick

Beautiful work. I enjoy your work.
I remove the bubble by spraying them with alcohol. Very fast and easy
Thanks so much for your teaching. I’m new at this type of art, but my favorite art is abstract, so it’s great.
Ty for showing us. It came out beautiful! I don’t remember this pour. The blue one is the first of yours I did n I love it. Maybe I’ll try the colorful one. Ty again. You’re a great teacher n easy to watch! Ty again

Thank you for the instruction, Julie! I've never thought about pouring my varnish. So much easier and it looks way better tgan painting it on.
You're welcome
Wow! Incredible results. I just varnished my first painting tonight. If it comes out even half as nice that I'll be happy.
Thank you! I will never use resin again. This is so much easier and it’s still shiny!
So beautiful! Gorgeous work!

Wow amazing 👍
Great video!! I must admit, I always use a brush and it dries with no brush strokes....and no bubbles.
Excellent video. I have done this myself just with Global Pouting Medium. It is a great alternative to using resin%

If you wash with plain vinegar it sets the silicone, you might try it. A tip I picked up as an automotive spray painter.
Thank you for the tutorial!. It was very helpful!
Beautiful thanks for the lesson. Very 👍🏽
Georgeous
Good job.👍

@joeadams. When using varnish, are you able to apply it using the pour technique in this video? Do you have a favorite brand?
Using a new technique 1:1 ratio varnish/water. Use a clean sock over glove, dip into mix and apply to canvas. Three to 4 coats, works great.
Nice work
What kind of varnish you use to look shiny. Please name that. I love your paintings. Stunning SPEECHLESS spectacular
Thanks needed to know this, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. .....
Thank you so much. Resin has been too difficult and I have been looking for other alternatives. Then you do this Awesome Video explaining it all.💜
Thank you for sharing...I usually resin but looking for another way instead of resining every piece so Im going to give this a try. Can I ask if you have a tutorial of this canvad...I love it!
Thanks for sharing this process.
Love these!
Wow didn’t realised they needed so much varnish!? I hope it isn’t too expensive lol
This is the smoothest way to varnish, but there are other ways more economical... If you mess up with other ways, use this way to correct it!
fantastic job
Thankyou soooo much that was a major helpful video.
