I appreciate the time you take to produce a step by step piece. Some of us may comprehend your method quickly because we're in the field, but for those who came to learn a new medium, your attention to detail is well welcomed.
In the United States, the large push pins can be bought at Walmart, Office Depot, or any office supply stores and some craft stores. Also when buying paint, I go to Sherwin Williams, or any home improvement store and buy my colors in quarts and my white by the gallon; they're ll acrylic and it's much cheaper in the long run if you're going to be doing a lot of pours. I do get my metallics at Hobby Lobby or Michaels or Walmart.
Thank you S Copher! I would never have thought to use regular acrylic house paint, but why not? So much cheaper and good to find out they work! Now to get started!
S Copher thank you for sharing your information! I was wondering where to do this less expensively! I wouldn’t feel right asking others to support me, that’s just me! I haven’t tried doing this yet , getting myself set up! Lol! Greetings! from California!👍👋😀💕
Just out of curiosity, what type of Sherwin Williams paint have you been successful using for pours with cells? Paint is so expensive... I'd hate to buy something that doesn't work. Thanks for your post!
@@janapoches4463 I just use their cheapest interior flat wall paint. You can use Lowe's interior flat wall paint too.I buy my white there by the gallon, which is like $12 a gallon
@@janapoches4463 for the dark colors all paint stores have to use an ultra deep tint bases. I buy their cheapest interior flat wall paint; also you can buy quarts of Lowe's or any hardware store's cheapest interior flat wall paint in quarts. Buying by the quart when doing projects like this this where I'm doing many paintings is way cheaper than buying bottles of craft acrylics or tubes of fine art acrylics. If you're only going to do a couple of pours in your lifetime; then use the bottle craft acrylics or tubes of $$$$$ fine art acrylics. One tube of Basics Red Cadmium costs about $11-$15 per 10 ounce tube, where a quart of red in an interior flat wall paint will cost me (depending on where I buy) $11-$18. I also get contractor pricing at Sherwin Williams. I also use my quarts of wall paint for other art projects; so buying it by the quart is way more economical for me.
I like how you don't waste a large amount of paint. I've seen the version people do with colanders and all I see is huge amounts of paint dripping off the sides. The pattern makes me think of outer space condensed down onto your canvas. Beautiful.
The things you learn on UA-cam!! I have never seen this done before! I'm going to add this method to my own repertoire of skills! Can't wait ro try it!
I'm a beginner and have watched a LOT of videos, each time I learn something new. Thank you for explain things. I can't wait to incorporate a few new tips.
When I go to bed at night, I make sure I took pictures first. Just to prove to anyone who think I'm making excuses, because the troll from hell come in the middle of the night and wreck my paintings. or stole a color o0r two and left the rest as a joke. Totally ruining my work's. They have broken my heart a few times. I did a ceder box with a wonderful black and gold, with copper swipe. I ended up redoing it four times. Sanding it down every time. By the fifth I took my vengeance. I showed those troll who they were messing with. I won and varnished. Very nice piece now, if I do say so.
I love you and am addicted to watching your videos! Your wonderfully kind voice is very relaxing and your instructions are easy to follow. You do amazing work and are a great teacher. I could go on and on about how glad that I am that I found your videos. Thanks a million for taking the time to teach us.
I am artist but don't have much experience with abstract art. I loved your video and the way you demonstrated step by step. I am going to try it. Thank you.
GORGEOUS!! So trying this!! Thanks for showing the process from start to finish and the products you were using!! I'm confident now that, I too, can do THIS!!! I'm so excited to try this now!!
I like the 3 blacks, 1 white. Otherwise it might turn out with too much gray. Reminds me of an enchanted wood on a dark night! Absolutely love this one!
I think this is absolutely gorgeous, I love the black negative space, and with all the metallics I agree with the person who said it remind them of space… I would absolutely hang this in my living room… I love your videos they are very informative.
I've not seen this technique before. Just beautiful and fascinating. The colors and the way they played out as they stretched, with the wavy stripes, reminds me of Agate or Tiger's Eye. Great demo!
Outstanding technique! Can't even tell you the wild landscape I saw in the finished piece. I'm sure everyone sees something different... that's the beauty I suppose. Anyway, just beautiful!!!

Julie you are sublime , please perfection.
🙆This is the most absolutely GORGEOUS creation that I have ever seen! Because of this painting I've fallen in love with this process and am now obsessed with learning how to do it myself!!..(my 22 year old daughter too!)😳💖
You need me as a neighbor, to tell you how PERFECT these are! (and that there is not "too much black"...). I do hope when I attempt this I end up with something akin to yours! You have an adroit eye for detail, and your instinct lets you "help" the paint/pour make the most beauty develop! I do love it all, having the paint edges is sublime!
Can’t thank you enough for simplifying this demo, there are so many but have to say after finding this just now, can’t wait to try, love all the tips from large push pins, choices and weights of glue, paints etc., mixing of Metalics to height of blow torch as I had mine far too close. Scotland 👍🏽❤️
I have learned so by watching your videos. I am going to try doing this with my grand kids while tjhey are off of school. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
It certainly can be hard to know how much of each color you are going to want. I had thought at first, "too much black" but I absolutely love the end result! Very lovely color combo!
Beautiful, Julie! Btw, I, for one, never mind watching you layer your flip cups! Just watching the manner in which you add your colors has been so educational & has truly enabled me to create prettier pours. It's amazing how different the results are when the exact same pouring medium, colors & technique are used, but are layered differently in the cups! So, please keep doing what you're doing because many people are learning how to create beautiful pieces from watching & listening to your videos & those of some other great pourers here on YT. (You must know that you are a naturally born teacher!) Thanks so much for continuing to film, edit & post your videos! They are priceless!!
The central part looks like a tiny little hut nestled under the roots of a tree. Overall, lots of black /dark creates a feeling of night and mystery. It reminds me of some Scandinavian fairy tales. Excellent piece.
I would take one black out but not put an additional white in, I would make the second white the copper color. I think this piece is one of the prettiest pieces I have seen. I love it!!!
I like it..reminds me of Halloween! I'm always relieved when you check all the sides and corners. It freaks me out to think you might leave a white space!
beautiful!!! thank you so much for sharing!! I have been ill for quite awhile and am desperately trying to get back into my painting.... watching uploads like this really help!! even love the realness of yours...getting the door! :)

I’ve never been a fan of dark colors, but that has just enough lighter colors in to contrast nicely, I really like it. Well done, ma’am!

Some people scoop up the paint that drips over the edges and save it. They add black to it and it all turns black. Then use it again.
this metallic piece is more organic and mystical seeming to me. Ultimately fascinating...Ms. PYHO is the expert!

cool beans. loved the technique and all that black made it feel very surreal spacey.
