    Orwell's looks like he's doing great! We just bought a pair of identical 1984 IH 9670 110 big bunks with low miles (498 and 515k) from a heavy haul outfit in California. 3406 motors, 15 spds with 15k tags on 227" WB all on air, twin 100G tanks and sliding 5th wheels. They been off the road since '05 and started right up, put them on the trailer and hauled them back East after giving the owner 22k for both of them. I saw a ton of clean iron when I was there and CHEAP! California's a gold mine for old trucks, nobody wants them for some reason, lol. My nephew calls them Alex and Eddie, the Van Halen boys.

      @genefogarty5395 Рік тому +1

      @@wetspotswimwear1199 As I said, the old trucks in California are fine for private owners and collectors. It's the fact that they can't be used for commerce that makes them so plentiful for sale. At 6-7 bucks a gallon, not many people are using them for pleasure cruisers like they once were. We here on the East coast are reaping the benefits in spades. I have two Landoll's going out West almost every three weeks now with prices the way they are. Back here the price is near triple for rust free older iron.

    I was in a rest area and the DOT had pulled in while I was on my sleep period. They knocked on my door and demanded my paperwork. I ignored them as when you are sleeping, you are NOT on duty. After about 5 mins, I opened the sleeper door and told them to knock the shit off as i had 7 hours left of my sleep period and they just made me reset it. I called my company to let them know and they sent a qualcomm message to all drivers about what was goin on and to let them know of any other states doing the same thing.
    I have also been pulled in and told to NOT update my logbook at scales, I ignore them as well as the officers CANNOT override the rules for their own gain. I also ran a loose leaf logbook, so I can take out the days not required so the officers cannot find any possible violations.

    "DOT in the rest area". At first, I was WTF? Then I figured since they're gonna be out there anyway, its likely safer than a roadside.
    Years ago, SCDOT had a short off/on station on I-85S just south of US29 in Spartanburg. That installation was a killer. The so-called "off ramp" lane was only long enough for 5-6 rigs before truckers had to stop in the right lane of the 2-lane interstate. Back before flashing signs and notices for truckers, it was just a metal road sign that said Weigh Station All Trucks Next Right.
    The sweeping right hander leading up to stopped trucks in the right lane killed a lot of motorists before SC got wise and closed it for good.

      DO not deviate from approved route without permission, period. For the amount of time it would take for the bureaucracy to grind thru all that (and possibly still screw it up) you'd almost be better off pulling off to the side and waiting for EMS to clear their scene; if it affects the delivery schedule, so be it, but let dispatch and/or client know! Out of your control. If its a major scene, a structure fire, then yeah, try to get a reroute approved.

    Too Bad the Ludington MI to Manitowoc WI Ferry is closed for the year, that would have been a short easy way back home ... Did you take the scenic ride through the U.P. or back south through Chicago?

    I'm thinking hard of where to move as well. There's been so much movement in the US these last three to four years where people are fleeing certain states for obvious reasons to another state. I've seen so much construction in once what would be considered rural less populated areas and it just destroyed that small town America laid back feel of that area. Where there was once less traffic quietness and a stillness many of us can appreciate now changed to noise more traffic and new residents with pissy attitudes very different from the chill welcoming polite mannerisms of said area. It's been a chore finding somewhere I can plant roots and settle down.

    I remember my first penalty box. It was a 1980 Pete with a 400 Cummins and a 15 over. I still don’t know what I did that was so bad to deserve that. 🤣

    If they pulling you in on highway ive no issue with them being in rest area but if you already there and they disturb you then thats when i would have an issue. Ive been pulled in at i 196 north at the rest area around 30 mm but they just said i was good didnt even check my lights. I love the east jordan area and also buckley. Pretty much all northern mi is nice. This weekend my sister inlaw planning a trip back to the island. I planned a trip were me and mom went to the soo locks during covid and then brothers fam met us on the fairy to the island which double surprised mom by going to island and brothers fam met us
