@@MrVaDelux The mic has held up very very well for my voice-over purposes. Its landed me an audition with a huge studio. Although, when I posted this comment I hadn't realised that the Scarlett 2i2 was out of stock, so I went for the Presonus Audiobox USB 96. Its amps aren't as good as the focusrite from what I've heard, but it's gotten the job done. I recommend you buy a good cable as well. You do NOT want a noisy cable, trust me. Otherwise, I 100% recommend this combo for any of your voice-over needs.
Which combo works better with the AT2020? I do mostly voice overs but I'm looking for a better sound card. I'm torn between the Presonus and the Scarlet
As I mentioned in your other video, can you explain about the monitoring feature in this setup. Especially when we are doing vocal recording into a DAW for song recording. I am more interested in the latency as well as the volume of the direct-monitor compared to the other tracks from the DAW.
See im having serious issues. I have this exact set up but if i set it to the lowest i can go to get a green light i can hear people in their yard two entire houses away from me with the window closed. Why is this happening? the audio is absolutely terrible with 0 built in noise gate functions??

i have this setup, and i don't had a good experience with this because for reasons that i don't know, i have less low frequencies on my recordings and sounds so dry, with no weight, disappointing.... but i'm still trying to make this work! maybe i need an accoustic treatment on my room, or maybe is better try on a studio

Hello, I just recently got this setup to record vocals for music. If I turn the gain up too loud, I can hear things from clear across my house and a ton of air noise. When I have it down low enough to silence all of that, the vocals sound "tinny" Any ideas? I'm new to this.
Hi, I need some help. I bought the Scarlette 2i2 and the AT 2020. With a new XLR cable. I have the mic in the right position, the 48v is turned on. The problem is that the green blinking on my 2i2 starts to appear only when I'm at 90% gain. Setting it a 100% make me start having yellow blinks. I speak loud enough. I have a headset with direct monitor and I barely hear myself. Under 80% my voice is almost inaudible. Where the problem comes from? Is it the mic au the audio interface ?
Hey, I'm having this EXACT issue, have you figured out the problem? I've tried everything from using a different USB port (even on different computers) to reinstalling drivers. I've also made sure that the 'Audio Technica' logo and text is facing me (so it is definitely facing the right way). I'm going to return the mic and get another of the same to see if it ends up working, I've also ordered a new XLR cable. I'll update you if I manage to isolate the issue.

I’m rocking a scarlet solo with a AT2020 and I have a quad cast s for comparison. The difference is actually very minor. In my opinion I don’t think it’s worth going xlr since condenser mics sound so similar and the price difference is quite hefty
I also have the Podmic as a comparison to hear how a dynamic mic sounds. It’s my favorite for sure but I don’t like having to be so close to my mic when I speak so I’m sticking to condenser mic in my case being the quad cast. I think it’s the best bang for buck along with me not needing an audio interface

Great questions: I started recording voiceover tutorials with a Presonus AudioBox ( currentprice.io/audiobox ) and AKGC3000 ( currentprice.io/akg_c3000 ). If you scroll wayyyyyyyy back to the first videos I uploaded, this is the setup that I used. I use headphones more when I'm recording a group podcast, or if I'm less comfortable with the setup. If I'm using a setup that I've used a million times, I'll often skip the headphones because I'm more comfortable without something on my head. That being said, I've found the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro ( currentprice.io/beyer_dt_990 ) to be extremely comfortable and I've been wearing them more than I've worn any other headphone while recording.

Damn good informative and well communicated video. I have a AT2020USB+ mic and while I love it now that I have a decent room and a better understanding of how to speak into it (yes, i spoke into the top for months >_< ), I also have been awfully curious about XLR mics (AT2035) and how an Audio Interface would be far better at managing audio levels. As much as I'd love to get them, I'm probably in no rush to upgrade from my current mic. Either way, I appreciate the to-the-point and concise video, the live demonstration, and just high production values. It's definitely made me at ease with getting the AT2035 + Scarlett Solo... whenever I have the disposable income :P

I think that would work well. I like using closed back headphones (like the 770) with condenser mics since some condenser mics can actually hear open back headphones.

Im pretty sure an audio interface uses USB C to USB A
some might use other type but I believe it always the USB A side that plug into the pc

In your audio software (DAW) you want to capture the sound between -18dB and -12dB. Then you can mix it from there.

Just got the scarlet and at2020. The monitoring is instant. As instant as it gets.

You can probably find free PC applications that will allow you to gate your microphone yourself
just use obs to further improve background noise or tried to adjust your audio interface even more or do both

Does the length of the XLR cable used impact the quality of the instrument/vocals being recorded?
If the cables are extremely long (think 10+ meters) it's possible the signal loses some strength.
I have the same setup but it is really quiet. need to crank up the gain which introduces noise

I typically use Garageband, LogicPro or QuickTime to record the audio.
Instead of computer, can I connect to my android device which has OTC type c adapter
