Another interesting video. Glad to hear from the conductor (when arriving at Ballarat) that the train is going all the way to Ararat. That means another video to enjoy 👍
Good track after Ballan you can really open the throttle on. Broken record here but still don’t understand why there has not been a Park and Ride station built in the outer eastern burbs of Ballarat. Or why they keep the Geeleong line as a separate line when it would be a very cheap upgrade of a double track/loop leaving Ballarat.
Old Melbourne road and old, old Melbourne road in Ballarat East 😂😂😂I didn't know we used to have a showgrounds stop. You always learn something on here.
That was the upgrade to the country rail system back in the early 2000's. Upgrade to speed and reduce travel times to decentralise the population. It made it more attractive to live in the country and work in Melbourne. 👍😀
It has made it quicker and easier to live in the country and commute. The rider numbers have gone through the roof compared to before these changes not just due to the time reduction but frequency of trains also. 😀👍
@nellforbes416 note the what is printed on the side of the train Made in Victoria for Victorians as for New South Wales according to the former transport minister they don't know how to build trains.
"If you like what you saw..." he asks us.🙄 When have we ever not liked what we saw? Its not as if you've ever posted a tour of a sewerage treatment plant 😧😆
@@xr6lad Maybe so, but I tend to watch two of these cab view videos each day. Ain't no way, no how I'm ever gonna watch that many sewerage plant videos.😵

Cheers 👍 😊

Lots of good ideas that I have heard being discussed. I guess time will tell if they get acted upon. 🤔👍😀
Excellent video
Thank you. Happy you enjoyed the ride 👍 😀
Were you driving this one mate? Doesn't sound like your usual horn sequence! Thanks again for a great one
My camera went for a ride but I wasn't driving this one. Glad you enjoyed it. 👍😀

And the showgrounds used to be between the railway and the lake before it was relocated to it's current location. 👍😀
Buck me, I can’t get used to the trains on the wrong side track 🥴
🤣🤣 You'll be fine. 👍😀
Are the semaphore signals still in use at Ballarat 😮
No, a few of them have been left in place for heritage looks but they are all out of use. 👍😀
👍
Glad you enjoyed it 👍 😀
Is there a good reason for the 160km/h limit everywhere?
Who doesn’t like speed. Specially passengers wanting to get to places.

@@xr6lad It needs to really be 160 at any point it can be. Would slash the travel times by a lot.

@@driver667 Is 200km/h or better possible? I meant to ask are they just refusing to allow that because of level crossings or something like that?
21:45 Not just any old rat, but a *Balla-Rat! (Ballarat)*
Sounds like a special kind. 🤔👍😀
Interesting fact. I first heard that joke in the 1970s, on the Mike Walsh Show. 😁
Nice to know it is still told among friends. 👍
@neilforbes416 Sovereign Hill is a must to watch on UA-cam i have been there twice in 2008 and 2009

Hmmm... yes. I hear you. 👍😀

Surveys can prove anything. "Yes Minister" showed us that. 😆
