Thanks for the video, it was very helpful. I cleaned up the old "frame part" and left the old rivets in place. Went to Lowe's and purchased two bags of #8x3/4" oval screws. Hillman brand I think. Anyway, the extra length in the screws allowed for a better bite in the old rivets. Today is 7/24/22 and it's been about a week of daily use. So far so good. Hope this helps someone else.
Thanks...nice walkthrough. I didn’t use drill bit. Cracked all old plastic off and was able to use existing holes for screws. Holding up nicely! P.S. don’t forget 3rd door screw in middle of handle to attach to door frame.
Thanks, I'm facing the same door handle issues and also plan to replace a passanger side mirror that vibrates so much that you can't see what's behind you on the interstate. This video help me see how to get the door panels off as well as fix the sorry inside door handles. P.S. love to hear the kids playing in the video background while us super Dads provide!
Changed out my broken front handles worked out great. If you buy them on line make sure they have metal back plate. 33 bucks on line for both. Plus watch alot of u tube videos helped a great deal
That should last longer than a couple of years. I bought my Commander in 06 and still have the original door handles working fine. However, I do have ebay replacements waiting just in case/when one breaks. Thanks for the video!
Good enough job. However, you did an even better job of pointing out how helpful it is to actually check the pachage first and see that the bit for removing the old plastic rivets was included in the kit. Oh, and it might help if you don't have your drill in reverse next time. You might need less "elbow grease". Happen to notice you had a tube of super glue left over from the kit when you were done too? Live and learn, huh? It's also helpful if you reuse the captive washers from removing the old handle or replace them. Using a bit of the glue first and then holding the new handle in place with the captive washers before screwing it to the panel results in a sturdier assembly.
you know what might have looked good , if you would have gotten the smooth rounded top bolts and left the heads of the bolts out on the cabin side and used lock nuts behind the door panel.
you know that out of all the videos i've seen on how to change out the door handles yours is the only one where you got the handle flush to the door panel
@@Wavetechlifeguardianagain thanks for the video I have to replace the two front door handles soon and like I said everyone else has done a half hardy job.
It looks like you have your drill in reverse... That tool would cut much better in forward not reverse. I just received the same handle for $21 from ebay.
Thank you for your help! I had to replace both back interior handles & had no clue until I saw your video...

you know your drill was in reverse right that's way it was taking so much longer to cut into the plastic.
Have you made a video for the passenger rear side??
