How about not throw words like depression around? Depression is a DISEASE, and you don't do ill people any favour by using this term in the wrong sense/context. He has just seen it all and knows what to expect, that's called realism, sweetie, nothing in common with mental disorder that gets misrepresented till this day.
He's resigned to his fate & just riding it out until he drives off a cliff. There's something so sadly humorous about that. On the other hand, Kevin Dunn comes across as a super positive & fun dude in interviews so I imagine this role was therapeutic for him in a way.
When he first stood up in the Uber meeting and said he didn't have a visual aid I thought "Oh that'd be interesting if I were in that meeting, far too many people rely on those and I'd love to do things a different way with an experienced guy giving the marching orders" and then he said "we don't have a Chinaman's chance" and I thought "Oh right he's been in this hyperbolized version of the white house for most of his career where they all treat each other like human excrement" 😂 No way was he gonna survive long in the modern private sector, especially in a big high profile company like that
it's so hard to pick out a favorite performance in Veep for me but Kevin Dunn's is definitely up there. I always remember cast/writer commentary saying that you could pluck Ben Cafferty out of this show and drop him in a drama and every line he delivers still would work just as well.
This was great but I came to hear one in particular. Veep: I'll be the only President that sits to pee. Cafferty: If it helps mam, sometimes I sit to pee. Veep: You do? Cafferty: Yeh, if it's going to be a longy.
My favorite part of the whole committee hearing montage was Ben with his depressive sadsack energy calmly and deftly taking the committee apart and giving them nothing while simultaneously telling them all to go fuck themselves without ever actually needing to say it. It was like catching a glimpse of who he was as a younger more inspired DC staffer/strategist who was clearly great at his job but tempered with the "wisdom" he's gained after being great at it for decades and realizing that's all there is and he had nothing else to look forward to
watching Kent and Ben doing the middle aged straight guy version of reading each other to filth every episode is always such a treat
beautifully put. But very presumptive to assume they’re only halfway through their lives.
this is such a good description lol
Perfect description. They’re like an old married couple. Or ex husbands lmao
“I could lose em both. I mean at this stage, theyre purely decorative”
Always gets me lmao
Ben is probably my favorite character in Veep. The actor did a great job selling his depression and cynicism
He always had the funniest lines for me from the whole cast, really tough competition.

great actor and character...yet still a diluted and more diplomatic version of Malcolm Tucker : ua-cam.com/video/qjKHPv7b3fQ/v-deo.html

His 5 minutes in the private sector were hilarious!

"I bet when you take a crap it actually comes out as a number two." I love him
"Its not the job that's depressing! It's life that's depressing"

I love Ben. He should have got an Emmy
Def-con F. That is perfection.
1:05 Badass, Ben.😅
"Hold on there hunk of the month, if I go down, you are going down eith me". Savage.
Yesssss this is long overdue
The best of Ben! Thank you!
Me so complicit, me go jail long time !!! Brilliant.😀
Kevin Dunn's one of the best ever. I've seen him in so many smaller roles on HBO series recently, he always delivers. Hilarious talented dude.
My favorite character on the show.
This was great but I came to hear one in particular.
Veep: I'll be the only President that sits to pee.
Cafferty: If it helps mam, sometimes I sit to pee.

"This is not a choice like my diet, this is a need like my drinking." Feels like a line written by Ianucci personally.
Oh my, yes, I use that Defcon line to this very day
My fave. "I have two things for you to do. 1. Get the f*&^ away from me. 2. Stay the f*&^ away from me.
I run a team and "bozzos disassemble" is the ending to my next team meeting. Always thought it but struggled to articulate it
i use it all the time now too
this isnt a choice like my diet, this is a necessity like my drinking, gold
"I bet when you take a crap, it actually comes out as the number two" I AM DEADDDD 🤣🤣
I can't believe I never noticed it until now. He played the father in the first 3 Transformers films.
This isn't a choice like my diet. This is a necessity like my drinking 😂
Now do best of Kent, I like his chemistry with Ben

Malcom Tucker's American counterpart.
Tucker would destroy him they should have done a cross over
Kevin Dunn... Always great!!! Love him as Ben, just awesome!

I cannot endorse that message but I do acknowledge it
Yall remember the "no, no?, no, no" during the investigation about the data breach 😭😭 His really talented
My favorite character. If anyone could make me LOL was him
Wish I could talk like him and get away with it. 😂
I want to see him meet Malcolm Tucker
I’ve never seen a whole episode of ‘Veep’ but watching this video, I wondered if the character was the Malcom Tucker of the show.
3:26 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I think Ben was the only one Selina genuinely respected although she used him purely for her selfish reasons.
If you’re a belt way insider, what’s your opinion on Mr. Dunn’s performance?
Kevin Dunn or Henry Dunn?
Me so complicit me go jail long time 😂
Ben is my favorite character in Veep and these are not even close to his best moments of the series
Is that Vice President Bob Russell!?
Bingo Bob?
