Do you want to see the: Doctor Who Ranking EVERY Second Doctor Story (worst to best)?
Yes definitely he is my favourite of all time not just as a doctor but as an actor
100%
Yes definitely
Yes definitely. ❤😁👍
Definitely! Great video tom.
1st doctor is so underrated!
So many elements here are integral to the show. Adore how he starts out all selfish and grumpy slowly becoming that hero who faces evil.
I adore the pure historicals, Aztecs, Marco polo , crusade, massacre , Romans are brilliant
I rewatched Crusade recently as im going through clsssic who with my mate (hes watching classic who first time) and already I can barely remember it. Crusade is one of the most forgettable stories ever.
Hes got daleks mastee plan next then massacre which is loved or hard to get into. It's not a well known era, missing and not yet amimated so hard to get into, understand or follow. I compare it to Vincent and the Doctor, the ending scenes are great but the rest is a struggle. Vincent The Chicken thing ruins it. Id prefer that to be a pure historical with no ridiculous looking invisible alien.
If as you say Hartnell is underated then how come so many people in the comments keep rating him
@@moonpawooe7134 on most fan videos I seen he often dismissed as a grumpy old man and ranked last and all the love & praise goes to Troughton. He's not very appreciated by the fans.
Yes finally! I thought this day would never come. Can't wait for the video, it's going to be awesome man.
The first season of Doctor Who from 1963 to 1964 is utter perfection in my view. It provides a blueprint for all the years to follow and has a certain haunting freshness that is so unique that I can not fully describe in words. The music, the worlds, Hartnell, the companions...all are just top notch.
It is crazy to see how much has changed! I am so glad you came back, and many of your opinions are completely different from a few years ago! I am so glad to see you have returned!
Yes, Mr. President 🫡🫡🫡
Good to see you back Tom! Looking forward to this already. Really missed your content.
Loved this video Tom. Couldn't stop laughing at your explanations during the lower parts of the list. Especially the Marynus leader and his daughter! This should be a series. Enjoyed every second.
Absolutely epic video mate.
A fantastic and thorough analysis and ranking of the era that started it all.
Best of luck.
Loved this! Would love to see a video like this for the other classic doctors!
I respect your opinion, but I do disagree with you about Galaxy 4. I got the animated recreation of it, and actually thought it was a pretty good story with a really good message, especially for kids.
Sometimes the prettiest things can be the deadliest and the ugliest things can be the kindest.
Plus, it was the first story to do this message. When it did it, it wasn’t cliched
Awesome video, and great to see you back on the tube!
Yes! Your back Tom.
In the Unearthly Child, it was Jacqueline Hill's proposal to go a bit off-script when she stopped the Doctor from bashing the head of a dying caveman. Her (sort of) adlib moment was the pivotal moment in Who history that changed the Doctor's personality and philosophy of life.
The Chase was an intentional silly/comedy story featuring the Daleks so I'd personally rate it fair a bit higher as they managed to pull it off IMO. Destiny of the Daleks was a kind of comedy as well though it wasn't done as well.
I loved to see a ranking of the doctor who animations worst to best
Al reviews who has made a great video reviewing all of the animations
So no one is going to talk about the showcase nostalgia
My top 5:
1. Dalek Masterplan/Mission to the Unknown (Like you, I class these as the same story)
2. The Aztecs
3. The Time Meddler
4. Dalek Invasion of Earth
5. The Tenth Planet
Bottom 5 (worst highest)
1. The Space Museum
2. The Sensorites
3. The Web Planet
4. The Tribe of Gum (I class this and An Unearthly Child as separate stories)
5. The Reign of Terror
46:35 The reason the writers decided to get rid of Vicki was because the new producer John Wiles decided not to renew Maureen O'Brien's contract, simply because Maureen didn't like the scripts for Galaxy 4 (neither did Peter Purves or Bill Hartnell), effectively firing her from the show. I'm also not a huge fan of Vicki's departure and I'm of the opinion that Vicki should have been killed off in The Dalek's Masterplan, as that would have been far more effective.
Dodo "disappears " because her contract expired midway through the serial.
I don't understand how 7/10 = C Tier.
I thought C Tier implied that a story was mid/mediocre.
On all my lists, 6 or 7/10 = B, while 4 or 5/10 = C.
That's how I see it anyway.
Hopefully one day they will finish the animations for all of these missing Hartnell episodes especially the celestial toy maker and the Daleks master plan.
I enjoy the gunfighters too. It’s not my favourite hartnell, but it’s enjoyable to me. The book by Donald Cotton is an enjoyable read
And glad to see you’ve seen the light with Dalek Invasion of Earth. It’s one of my favourite stories of all time, and my favourite Hartnell.
S:
The Time Meddler
The Space Museum
The Aztecs
The Sensorites
The Dalek Invasion of Earth
A:
The Celestial Toymaker
The Daleks Master Plan
The Tenth Planet
Marco Polo
The War Machines
The Rescue
The Keys of Marinus - Episodes 3 and 4 stop it being S for me
B:
The Myth Makers
Mission to the Unknown
Planet of Giants
The Reign of Terror
The Savages
Galaxy 4 (overshadowed)
The Edge of Destruction
The Daleks
The Gunfighters
The Ark
C:
The Romans (Nero looses it points)
An Uearthly Child
F:
The Smugglers (forgettable)
The Massacre (I struggle to understand this and its missing)
The Crusade (Forgettable AF)
The Web Planet
Web Planet is unwatchable. I admire the ambition but 6 parts and Zarbi's annoyijg chirping is grating. Worst aging of an episode ever discounting any controversal old practices in TV.
The Massacre is very much the vincent and the doctor of the classic era where the closing scenes ars great but everything before those I struggle with. Massacre is an obsure time period that no one learns about so hard to get into as the history isn't well known whereas everyone has heard kf Marco Polo or The Aztecs civilisation and the French Revolution.
Planet Of The Giants is my least favorite 💀💀💀
Just trying to get a broad picture. If you give a william Hartnell story a 2/10 and say later a Pertwee 2/10 - are those stories equivalent to you or is that score based solely on a particular Doctor's run. I ask this as different seasons had different budgets etc... so I am wondering if fair comparisons across each Doctor's era can even be made. Should we the viewer think of your rankings for each Doctor as completely separate to another. Thank you for all the work.
I was personally shocked with the number one choice. I haven’t seen all of the first doctor but I remember personally hating the Aztecs. It is probably my least favorite who story. I found it slow and boring. Just my opinion though. It’s been years so maybe I’ll give it another watch and maybe I’ll like it a second time around.
This would be a much better video if you tightened it up a bit. It’s only 2 hours long because you repeat yourself a lot. Maybe you want it to be long, and many people might prefer it, but for me it felt a bit like watching The Smugglers.
No need for the background music
i can never get through the ark seems like 2 x 2 parters
Double scorchio 😊
I love the Smugglers ❤
