    I think what got me at the first part, was when GI Robot was hung up and asked what he would want, and he gets wistful about wanting to be reunited with his boys.. He talks about killing Nazi's right after, but I thought it was a great humanizing moment

    I felt like this episode was a great metaphor for PTSD generated from war trauma. This Robot/guy was created/trained to unalive nazis and they lost all the people that shared from their trauma and experiences and they live aimlessly until they're finally arrested for doing precisely what they were created/trained to do. Using nazis is actually a great way to soften what could be a horrific story.

      And the fact he simply put it, he has no wants besides his purpose. You made me to do this and now I cant do it. So now what?
      At least Will Magus asked the right question.

      This death really evoked how Polkadot Man went out; being killed in a high of pure joy, getting to really feel like he did something meaningful with his friends.
      Actually, with Dr. Phosphorus here James is two-for-two in using an obscure Batman villain that would almost-certainly never feature in the films, and reimagining them to be far more interesting; both Phosphorus and PDM aren’t even likely to get one-off episodes in an animated adaptation (not impossible but unlikely…) Although I’m less confident that Phosphorus will be one of the casualties; we can’t be sure of who else will perish before all is said and done.

      Is it still a metaphor when that's just literally what the text is about? Also, you can say "kill" on the internet. Not every website is TikTok.

    This was a stealth tutorial in spotting neo-Nazis. That is an amazing thing to get people to see.

    What an episode it was! What a bloodbath! I'm sorry about your husband, GI Robot was a wonderful soldier! I enjoyed the episode learning GI Robot backstory.

    Cheers to the Tin Man. That episode was amazing. Also loved the joy GI Robot showed while killing Nazis. Hoping he’s not really dead. After all, nobody stays dead in comics.

    I was really expecting that he was locked up and decommissioned after he ran into some Operation Paperclip members at the government. The US happily took in WW2 German scientists after the war. GI recognizing them and doing his thing would be really awkward and the US would hate that.

    I think the princess is clayface, which would be a totally funny thing james gunn would do

      If that happens I wonder if they'll address the fact that he actively wanted Flagg to bang him.

      @@BreakRoomofGeeks Well the Batman TAS version was queer coded, and his daughter worked as a trans allegory too.

    • @levischorpioen
      @levischorpioen 8 днів тому +1

      @@PrincessOzaline I don't think that's what was meant. I think the point is that if it is indeed Clayface, then Flagg basically got assaulted. It's not about Clayface being queer. It's about being a sex offender.

    • @PrincessOzaline
      @PrincessOzaline 8 днів тому

      @@levischorpioen Well that's a point too but since we were talking about her (his or their maybe) desire for sex. There's weird power dynamics already that she's got all these high tech knights and rules the country and he's older and supposed to be protecting her. And even if she's not Clayface it could be a play to manipulate him and take advantage of him... If she's an evil world ending threat maybe she tries to play on an emotional attachment... maybe she gets/pretends to be pregnant and Flagg feels conflicted cause he already lost a child.
      It could get very messed up without her lying about who she is.... but that does add another layer to the mess for sure.

    • @PrincessOzaline
      @PrincessOzaline 7 днів тому +1

      @@levischorpioen well that's a valid point. There's some weird power dynamics and manipulation at play even if she isn't clayface and she might be trying to manipulate him in the future. Given he's got a dead son I can see that going directions either way.
      But yeah it does add an extra layer of ick if there's additional deception going on. But since the comment was about desire that's what I foccused on.

    [politely informs her partner that once again James Gunn is making media for her]
    I actually started watching The Suicide Squad alone, got to the bit at the end of the opening with the bird, and stopped playing it, because I was entertained, but it was *for* her.

    I'd argue all stories are emotional manipulation. Just some do it well and some cheaply. This was well earned.

    After watching the MCU dance around Nazi's with Hydra it's so oddly refreshing to see this show just go for it.

    I loved everything with GI robot. That was beautiful. I did not like SA used as a threat. James Gunn has had trouble writing about SA before, and I don’t see any sign that he is getting better.
    Again, credit where credit is due. There was good in this episode. But I almost turned it off at that point.

      I’m not going to disagree but that he needs to improve in that area. But I will say that having those tools make that threat… honestly it would have risked feeling dishonest if they didn’t given the nature of those characters.

    The only negative I could think of with this episode is: Why would a….national socialist bring a robot known for…ending national socialists to a national socialist meeting? Seems…kinda dumb that he would do that right?

    • @BreakRoomofGeeks
      @BreakRoomofGeeks  8 днів тому +1

      Yes. Yes it does. Have you seen footage of these people? Heard them talk? They're not exactly brain trusts.

    • @MegaVolcano1
      @MegaVolcano1 8 днів тому

      @ I guess.
      This is probably an example of “Real Life being badly written.” Since you see people like this in real life and it kinda takes you for a loop right? Like, you go: “No, no, no one’s THIS stupid! There’s this thing called self-preservation! Right?” lol It’s so stupid, you would think it’s unbelievable.
      Now, in defense of the episode, I don’t think there’s a line where he explicitly KNOWS that GI is a nazi killing machine, so you COULD argue he didn’t know what he was really bringing to the meeting, which is…pretty funny. :)

      There is a contradiction in American Nazis, as they are simultaneously proud of their WWII history as Americans yet are still Nazis. This was just a hightening of those contradictions.
