I hope melee rogue is a viable option. I've been playing a twisted blades (I think that's what it's called) build so far and have had a blast. I'm not really interested in rogue if it does end up being a ranged-only class. If that's the case I'll probably go with Necro or Druid, Necro as long as summoner army type playstyle isn't the meta and druid if it is 👍 Barb is also always a safe and fun choice but I think there will be a crap ton of ppl playing it, especially since ppl are already making tier lists with barb at the top
Melee is absolutely viable. At least in the beta. I’m doing twisted blades with dash and shadow step with shadow imbunement. So I proc shadow, use twisted blades, dash through the mob and then shadow step back into the mob and it’s clears them easy as fuck. Only weak area is single target damage, but it isn’t even that weak. I also have the invisibility skill, so if it gets too hairy, I pop that and wait for cooldowns, which aren’t that long due to twisted blades reducing ability cooldown depending on how many enemies it travels through. It’s so much fun.
At least the first 10-15 levels melee was way stronger. Archery actually kinda felt weird and weak, which makes me a little sad. Generally I'm no fan of the abilities in D4 so far. Seems even more dumbed down than D3. Sorcs were the real OP deal though. You'd just need 1-3 shots to wipe entire groups just walking past while being super mobile too. With the rogue I was struggling much more. But with that limited time and capped access it's hard to tell, still not sure how they would improve on the lackluster skills though.
tried the build both early lvls and lvl 25 with strongholds and at the current level cap it doesn't really work due to energy issues. Once you can trigger the infinite energy and time it so you pop your shadow clone and can just spam barrage it's great - but it takes a good while to charge that infinite energy and in-between you aren't really doing much. I played with rapid fire and it does a much better job at resource management but you lose the AOE aspect. Much better for bosses.
"initial casualty" isnt dropping for me, i have finished the beta story and i have been to Kyo(whatever) place i needed to be and even got the "Your first of many characters in Kyo" achievement or something. Is the title not available till after beta? did blizzard fuck up on my end and didnt give me the title? do i reroll a character to ensure i get it? Pls help

I'm def going for the no-summon nos feratu necro build when the game releases. Being able to sacrifice summons for permanent buffs sounds very cool.

I think the druid will be the best versatile char to play very interested in the necromancer as well

What other classes will you be leveling? **EDIT** forgot to mention, Replace Shadow step with shadow clone when you unlock your ultimate :)

What about the Ultimate skill? With the in game Region progress rewards, you get an extra 2 skill points and that will let you get an Ultimate.
Healthy enemy = above 80%hp
Injury enemy = under 30%hp

I replaced shadow step since dash with 2 extra dodges already pretty good movement
