      I am more familiar with Brazilian Portuguese because I have met far more Brazilians than other Portuguese speakers. Besides Brazilians, I have met 3 Angolans and 1 Guinea-Bissauan. I have yet to meet anybody from Portugal. However, I have recently been following European Portuguese teachers, and I now find European Portuguese to be just as interesting and beautiful as Brazilian Portuguese! Muito fixe! 😊

    I have a Portuguese grandpa and I wanted to honour my ancestors by learning Portuguese. My ancestors are Portugal Portuguese and so is my friend, so I became more motivated. However, I can only find Brazilian language learning websites. Does anyone know any Portuguese (Portugal) ones? Also, please don’t say Duolingo. They have Brazilian instead.

    so they're two completely different languages?

    • @lhm1586
      @lhm1586 2 місяці тому +1

      No, they're the same language with some different words, slangs and way of speaking. Portuguese people speak faster, with more shh sounds and "eating" the vowels, Brazilian portuguese is more clearly articulated and slow paced in comparison to PT.
      Thats why Portuguese people understand Brazilians with ease, while the latter may struggle when listening to Portuguese-PT, though they'll quickly get used to it and are capable of communicating.

    • @MCKevin289

      I mean portugal and the Iberian peninsula was ruled by Arabs and North African Muslims for 1000 years. There’s a lot of words of Arabic origin in both Spanish and Portuguese. From my understanding it’s similar to the influence French had on English. In Spanish ojala means I want something, it came from the Arabic word inshallah or god wills it. Almuerzo also is originally from Arabic too.
