    Wore mine for the first time yesterday. The only word I have to describe them is, WOW! Lovely fit, nice spacious toe box, nice fit around the ankle, totally comfortable. Sizing is a normal UK size, I think. I have never experienced power transfer before in a shoe, but yesterday I did and I've tried, Giro, Northwest, Sidi and Shimano, nothing compares with what I experienced yesterday.

    Bloody brilliant idea for an upper. As a footwear technician it makes sense for a one piece upper gives you nil stretch & a more secure fit for your feet. Look fwd to this long term review 👏👏👏

    My S-Works shoes from 2010 have finally kicked the bucket after 12 years of abuse and I tried these Rapha shoes on at the store in Sydney - thank fuck for Black Friday sales because I ordered a pair last night and am so keen! Hey Marcus, thanks for the comment mate. It’s interesting I’m actually not too worried about their longevity as I do feel they are well made and the upper is noticeably more rugged then I initially thought. My concern (which is very small I should say) is more the shape of the shoe. It Certainly feels a little narrower then first thought, in fact closer to the SIDIs then the BONTS. time will tell.

    I hope the EF color will be available for public. Really dig those shoe colours
    And I hope the gravel shoes will be based on this, especially with the same full length carbon plate and stiffness, probably some transparent plastic/film to wrap the sides of the knit to prevent scuffs? It’s time for some stylish SPD shoes that doesn’t weight like a typical MTB shoes

    Hi Chris, Love the Channel. I'm in the market for a pair of racing shoes and was pretty much set on the Shimano Sphyre's until Rapha announced these. I have a pair of Rapha classics which i really like, plus the fact that I'm a bit of a Rapha fan-boy so I'm going to have a tough time deciding! If you could do a side-by-side comparison of them both then that would be great. Or, if you could only take one pair of shoes with you on a trip or something, which would it be, Rapha or Shimano? :-)

    I just purchased my Rapha Pro team 2020 shoes today in black. From the look of the shoes, to the touch of the insoles to slipper like fit, this video captured my exact thoughts too. Maybe I should look at buying the sock next. They do come in half sizes and I half sized down too. You should have had a disclaimer on your video to leave your wallet at home if your "just going to look" at these shoes. Otherwise, they'll be going home with you.

      I wish there was some conspiracy here, I'm just not sure I have a huge amount to say on the subject. I did mention in one of the festive VLOGs that I had started to form an opinion on them. Truth is they are great for what I regard as my everyday riding, but it was when I took them out of their comfort zone that I really started to notice the difference. Best example of this was when I was down in Berry, they did the job, but there was a notable tailing off on control, especially against the Bora's. I'll keep writing things down when I notice them, it's just not a black and white discussion I'm finding.

    How do the new shoes compare to the older lace rapha version?

    • @ChrisMillerCycling
      @ChrisMillerCycling  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Kyle, chalk and cheese to be honest. The classics have a far more traditional feel to them, so buy that I mean the upper is quite stiff with little play. Obviously much of that tension is customisable via the lace system, but the general feel is far more 'normal'. These are a different ball game, lower-cut, lighter (about 30g per shoe) and softer upper. Like I mentioned in the VLOG the devil will be in how these wear, as opposed to the classic which I am certain I could put another 40,000km into and they would be fine.
      It is probably worth me discussion what I learnt about lace up shoes in a VLOG though, I certainly found some positives and a few negatives (mainly the time it took to do them up).
      Hope this helps

  • @charlesmansplaining
    @charlesmansplaining 4 роки тому

    They look awesome as a new shoe but what about after a few months of wearing them in the weather. Road grime will make these look like the worst shoes ever. That weave will not come clean. I'm sick of BOA fasteners too. I've been looking for lace-ups and there's not much out there to choose from.

    • @ChrisMillerCycling
      @ChrisMillerCycling  4 роки тому

      Hey Charles, if you are after wet weather reviews ... you’ve come to the wrong UA-camr #sunnyridesonly 😂. Seriously though, I know what you mean about boas and I was actually quite surprised they went with that tech given the amount of R&D they put into the upper. From what I’m told the BOA system is the easiest to mount on a fly knit shoe, hence why you see it on most of them.
      Now as for laces, I have to say I absolutely loved the rapha classics. It took me a while to get the right tension in the laces themselves, because as you know there is no adjusting once you are on the road. I was certainly over tightening for the first few weeks.
      The only downside was simply how long it takes to takes them on and off. If you are like me, you have your getting ready time for a ride in the morning down to a minute perfect practice....laces added at least 4min to my prep time 😂

    These shoes looks so ridiculous!
    Cycling is a strong sport, don’t get on your bike and look like a ballet dancer.

    Solid review!! I’ve been looking at these. I currently ride the S-Works Ares, which I love!! 🫶🏾 but I’m always up for trying something new.
