I feel there are basic bits you missed out for a complete beginner. For eg the plugs I think they were called that you said to check towards the end. Check for what? Was anything done to them by you during the oil change?
If you are referring to the spark plugs nothing was done to them during an oil change, I will have a video out soon on how to change the spark plugs on this vehicle!
