Hera grew into a living legend over the past years. I am sorry for Viper, for not getting a single win. Its rough.(He played a good tourney) But noone can deny how deserved the outcome of this tournament was! Congrats to Hera the Champ, we are very happy for you! 🎉🎉
this is such a good video! I wish I had this when I used to play… most of the times I was late to Castle Age, I’d do the opposite of what’s being suggested here (for example, trying to catch up on eco, or make 3 TCs for “defense” when opponent is pushing me with 2-3 Mangonels) and always lose the game 11
great video Hera! I would like you to make a video about tips on how to recover quickly in team games after taking a lot of damage in feudal, what to do and what not to do, what to prioritize. Many times it happens to me in team games (i'm 1100 ELO) that I am flank position, and because my pocket booms or takes time to help me and I take a lot of damage from fighting against 2 players, resulting in being very behind for the rest of the game, it takes me a lot of time to recover.
Thanks for all the educational videos man! In "what to do when we're later up" you describe the decision making process w.r.t what our opponent does in CA/the state of the game. However, how do we choose whether to boom, get tech advantage, or push, when we're the first up? Grats on KotDV! Stellar performance!
Depends on the position of the game, if you see a massive hill u can push from, or if he has a forward gold then go for that. If not boom and relics is usually safest option. Sometimes a mix of both can work too if ur unsure what to go for
@@HeraAgeofEmpires2 Thanks! So in general, it is preferrable to prioritise military (either upgrades or forward buildings) if I'm first up and see a clear weakness to explot, but it is wiser to focus on economy (e.g. TCs before University or Siege Workshop) if I don't have a clear plan for how to do damage?
Just gonna comment here as well since idk if you go back through older vids. Anyway I think the 1v3 you uploaded recently could actually be a great way for you to improve some skills in a targeted way that playing pure 1v1s at a high skill level won’t. It should be some great practice for playing at a disadvantage, map awareness as well as improving micro plays-lots of smaller armies you have to micro, which should improve your split second decisions over time and micro at more places at once. Keep improving man, great stuff!
Hi Hera, I commented something similar the other day but I was wondering if you could remake your best team game Pocket and Flank civs tierlists from almost a year ago as well as your 1v1 arena tier list from a few months ago to reflect the newest balance changes and meta shifts over the last couple of patches. Love what you do for the community keep up the great work!
Hey Hera, if you reading this I have thought hard on your comments about monks being somewhat broken in AOE2 and needing a change. I have a suggestion let me know what you think: 1. Remove conversion from monks. 2. Change the effect of heresy to "monks can now convert units" and reduce its cost to say 400 gold. 3. Increase healing rate and range of monks to make them more of a support unit. Potential further changes: 1. Reduce their hp and/or remove sanctity. 2. Remove eagle bonuses against monks completely.
played only like 3 ranked games (campaign player when I normally play) and won 2 where I was behind at getting castle by 2+ minutes but was just raiding with scouts so hard (franks) that they couldnt field castle units and forgot that just pikes isnt that great especially when behind in resources on the offensive (finally wiped my scouts as I was starting to mass knights) but my first game got skilled diffed by mayan fc (I did not play ranked for a bit and practiced on fast feudal scouts)
It is lovely to see that Hera apparently is reading all the omments because he gave so many hearts in the comments. Hey Hera, buddy! If you are reading that: Thanks for the great content and make the best of your weekend!
good video-- I'll add that it's important to pick intentionally which of the three strategies you're taking when you click up to castle age (mentally pause from the clicking for five seconds to "pick the path"). Getting to castle age first is a window where you have choices, but a mixed strategy of a couple knights + a TC and the eco upgrades results in an opponent reaching castle age behind you with more resources and/or a larger army. Also, if the other player gets to castle age first-- it's important to use your scout to do a pass by on their base to find out which of the three strategies they've picked-- look for the TCs or the 2nd military buildings.
I'm 1000 elo, and I'm surprised at how many players hit castle age with minimal walls and army, and I can just win the game by making 6 knights and raiding
So basically the easy answer is, heavy push. The difference is you have a choice being first to castle, but if you boom and the opponent overwhelm you with military means you should have pushed
@Hera. Hello. I get blue points from your page in my subscription list (suggesting new content), but nothing new beyond this video can be seen for me. Is there more, or does the blue dot signify something else?
What I think is right call: If you are first to castle age then see scout if enemy has army, if yes then drop only if you can match it. If you are second then castle drop only if you see enemy going for boom, if they go aggression then defensive castle is maybe in order. But that is just my take, castle drop without your army presence is risky strategy, quickwalls can help.
not only a tryhard in competitive, also a tryhard in content... respect bro
Try so hard mfers wanna lame me 😅
He is a competitive person overall
hera dead or not competitive anymore regarding this channel?
So happy for KOTD5!! And with a 5-0? Amazing 💪🏻👏🏻
From having no confidence in yourself to all this, enjoy Hera! 🎉

oh boy what magic made these square of farms around the TC happen. it looks so weird.
Congrats on KOTD and keep up the amazing content mate!
Great vid, thanks for explaining. Also congratulations on KOTD5 that was amazing play!

Very useful info. I often feel like I don't know what to do in specific moments of the game.
Just another extreme quality Hera's video
This is Hera ASMR
Great video. I always struggle with exactly this. My usual play is to do something dumb at random and hope luck is on my side.
I love these Videos about decisionmaking and how you think about the game!
keep it up and congraz to your well deserved KotD win!
A great detail in all your videos are the dioramas you use as B roll. They are pretty cool
This is massive. Your dedication is worth to emulate ❤
Love the content, as always!
You underestimate me Hera. I’ve killed five of my opponents vils with a scout rush and still lost.
By the way, any time I drop tc’s immediately upon hitting castle age, I die.

A bit too drastic for my taste!😊

Fantastic, thank you Hera (as always)! Very important to keep scouting the opponent to understand what they are doing and adjust accordingly

In which cases there are or aren't carpets around the town centres? i think it's interesting to know when scouting
At this point I am just repeating myself: great video again.

master sensei strikes again with yet another lesson for the padawan! ❤
One could say it's allot about timing and of course the MOMENTUN 😉😎
Congrats on your recent win! What about countering an enemy who reaches fast castle & doing a forward castle push in front of your base?
He has a video called "How to defend against forward castle". Go check it out.
@@NikozBG thank you just found it!
thanks hera

Masha Allah. Great videos

EXCELENTE VIDEO QUE CAPO QUE SOS PAPA
Great useful vid 👍
Really good breakdown. My takeaway is 2nd to castle = make sure you haven't lost your scout and don't drop TCs straight away.
Hera, ídolo, vas a jugar el máster of arena?
30 seconds to a minute is significantly faster??!?!!😮
Nice!

we are posting shorts
@@HeraAgeofEmpires2 Thanks for your reply. I'll be sure to look for those shorts. 😁
hey Hera can I share a gameplay and comment, what I did wrong and what should I had done to survive, I am really pissed that I lost that game -.-
I offer coaching off stream, all details in my discord
Bulge aura real
I feel like if you play slower just build more army. Most people who rush can't afford anything if you kill their rush.
I am by the way also producing Age content, but most of it is in German and not 2800 ELO but more like 1100 ELO. 11
Is he saying welcome back to a video or welcome back to another video?

I know what to do if they hit imperial age in araba. Set all waypoints to their base.

Best pro in aoe2 right now. Content wise and gameplay.
u talk to kids like they still play games at age 30
the both sides dont play the same as this stupid game doesnt take that much area of their brain to play perfectly
as its not a reccomanded set of skills to live
i was up until midnight playing this game, and am 30. I woke up at 5 am the next morning to work my 12 hr shift- to provide for my family.
