Im a company man fan hes my boy. But I do love and listen too older songs my whole life with artist such as Burle Ives, Roger Whittaker and Johnny Cash to name a few.
Man it sucks that Johnny Cash is considered an “oldie” I feel so old hahaha! It’s funny you mention him though as he attributed the song “Don’t Take Your Guns To Town” as using the tune for this song
@@leftylou6070 He did not beat his children. His boys had alcoholic problems inherited from Dixie. One wasn’t. Gary wrote the book while he was battling booze to make money. He later admitted it. Bing was gone more than home because of his career. You can rest from believing he beat his children and find a statement from the one that lived the longest of him being a good Father/strict but not abusive. Most parents were strict in the era before today’s that forget their children in hot cars.
This was one of the many songs my wonderful Dad would walk around the house singing, and I recall his voice being even better than Bing's. Wish I had a tape of him singing.. Glad we have Bings version to bring back great memories.
Ophelia Cantley Holy shit. My mom would do the EXACT same thing. I learned to hate this song because every time I heard my mom sing it, it would invade my dreams and I'd know she was heading to my room to wake me up and tell me to get ready for school. And no matter how much I'd keep trying to go back to sleep, she'd sing the song until I got up. I would be so annoyed. Last time I remember her doing it I was probably 8 years old. I'm 22 now. I love my mom.
This is amazing, 'cause my Mom back in the 40's woke up me and my brother every morning, raising the shades and singing this song, Such a fond memory and a cheerful way to start the day.
Ophelia Cantley my mom would sing it to put me to sleep when I was a baby. she sings it to my daughter too. brings a slight tear to my eye. oh the memories and how they come up.
My mother would sing this to me when I was a kid in the 70's and 80's. I didn't know who sang it. I thought about it when my wife said let's go eat at Red Robbin's.
Since -- as Company Man shows -- this was the song that inspired the Red Robin name, the chain should definitely have this song (and this catchy version by Bing) in its commercial. It's a great homage to the restaurant's roots, and the tune is so catchy, it's sure to send new customers bob, bob, bobbing along to their nearest Red Robin!
When the red red robbin comes bob bob bobbin' along he brings... the fries.... and then you take the seasoning, and give it a shake shake shake all day lonnngggg
I'm here because my brother and I remembered some lyrics to a jingle our grandpa sang to us every morning. So we asked our mom about it and she recalled all the lyrics. We asked our grandpa and he confirmed that HIS dad sang that to him. So we did some research and discovered that he mixed lyrics from this song and an old Kellogg cereal commercial.
I just found out that whenever a new year comes along certain songs from a certain year becomes public domain, and I found this song on the list. This year is songs from 1926.
Awww I love this song, brings back good memories from the 90s when my grandmother would sing this to us when we wake up in the morning =) Definitely gonna send this to her
I just Love this song! The Great Creative Writer Janis Kent wrote a short piece this morning, including reference to this song. I'm so Thankful She did, Great Song. Thanks Bing. Thanks Janis. Thanks for the Memories!
Interesting trivia - The song helped inspire the name of the American casual dining restaurant chain Red Robin: the owner of the original restaurant, in the University District of Seattle, sang in a barbershop quartet which frequently sang the song, and in the 1940s he renamed his restaurant "Sam's Red Robin"
My grandma used to take care of me and this was the song we would sing together all the time. She died in 2018 and im just realizing now how much worse everything is
I was first introduced to this song via Fred Penner. He was (and still is) a Canadian children's entertainer in the late 80's and early 90's. Most of his songs were covers of classics. Every spring, when the robins start singing again, I can't help but think of this song.
When the red, red robin comes bob, bob, bobbin' along, along There'll be no more sobbin' when he starts throbbin' his old sweet song Wake up, wake up you sleepy head Get up, get up, get out of bed Cheer up, cheer up the sun is red Live, love, laugh and be happy What if I were blue, Now I'm walking through fields of flowers Rain may glisten but still I listen for hours and hours I'm just a kid again doing what I did again, singing a song When the red, red robin comes bob, bob, bobbin' along Musical Interlude What if I've been blue, now I'm walking through fields of flowers Rain may glisten but still I listen for hours and hours I'm just a kid again doing what I did again, singing a song When the red, red robin comes bob, bob, bobbin' When the red, red robin comes bob, bob, bobbin' along Hi there Red!
My nannan loved me and my twin sister singing this to her she would always say go on girls sing it for me please. I learnt the song in about 1996 she recorded it on her phone when we was older . It was her ringtone she passed away tonight I'm just listening to the song and remember the happy memories.
I was born in 1953 I remember growing up and my mom was always singing this song and take me out to the ballgame song I'm 70 years old now and I still remember the singing of my mom
My Mum, the most brilliant singer I have ever heard [and I would have heard 10000+ voices in my time], used to sing this song to my brother and me to wake up quite often - but it was a very pleasant awakening when She sang it :)
discovered this ( I prob heard it a long time ago and forgot) by reading a kids book called second grade friends again, to my daughter and one of the characters in the book is always singing this and ruining the concentration of one of her friends trying to play baseball.
Bing Crosby was my mom's favourite singer, I'm nearly 70 years old and miss my mom so much.

Awww my Mom would sing this to me most mornings I don't think I ever knew the original until thinking to look it up just now.
A client of mine would have this on his ringer. I really miss my client; was a joy to do business with. Great song!
My mom would sometimes wake me up by singing this song when I was younger. Fond memories of my younger years (says the 15 year old).
Ophelia Cantley That's how I woke up my daughter too!
Ophelia Cantley Holy shit. My mom would do the EXACT same thing. I hope she keeps singing it to you no matter how old you get. My Grandma was my favorite person too.
Bing's influence on Dean Martin really shows here.
As soon as the singing started, I thought, “Wow, Bing sure sounds like Dean!”, but it’s the other way around, of course

Wake up, wake up you sleepy head

What if I were blue,
Now I'm walking through fields of flowers
Rain may glisten but still I listen for hours and hours
I'm just a kid again doing what I did again,
singing a song
When the red, red robin
comes bob, bob, bobbin' along
Musical Interlude
What if I've been blue,
now I'm walking through fields of flowers
Rain may glisten

doing what I did again,
singing a song
When the red, red robin
comes bob, bob, bobbin'
When the red, red robin comes
bob, bob, bobbin' along
Hi there Red!
Tis a good old song for the garden
I like the way Chyler Leigh sings this song. It’s much more of a lullaby-esque style
My nannan loved me and my twin sister singing this to her she would always say go on girls sing it for me please. I learnt the song in about 1996 she recorded it on her phone when we was older . Imagine coming back to a classic song you used to listen to and seeing comments about a Company Man
I love the book Floating Dragon by Peter Straub. This song is a prominent part of the heroes' survival. Great song
