I love playing my PS3 from time to time. The games this generation were so fun, especially Star Wars The Force Unleashed, Lord of the Rings Conquest, inFamous 1 & 2, MW2 and Black Ops. I also love being able to play complete games. I don't like how many current games rely too heavily on DLC and micro transactions. I miss the days where DLC was a compliment to the game, not a requirement (like it is for EA Star Wars Battlefront)
That's the key, playing complete games. I got MK1 on the PS5 and it feels empty. Spider-Man 2 was fun but it has no replay value, no features or anything. MK11, needed to buy characters... the list goes on and on. I miss unlocking features in games by playing them instead of paying for DLC.

I got my boyfriend a PS3 specifically so he can play Warhawk again. Tonight he played it for the first time since before we met almost a decade ago. The lobby was active, there were players in the middle of a game. It was so much fun to watch. My favorite console has been entirely abandoned by its creator and is left to the small modding community to keep alive, so I was happy that the ps3 is still alive and active
Still play my ps3 to this day and love it. So fun replaying games i played back in highschool and cleaning up trophies for them. Really miss the good old days of playing the old cod mw games, uncharted, littlebigplanet, rock band and so many more online. Really miss this era of playstation.
My first ps3 game world at war all I had was split screen campaign 2 controller and a Brother 👱♂️ most importantly 2 controller I could never play single player ever again yeah 👍
PS3 has a huge variety of single player games to play. PS3 was a generation where it had a good balance between good graphics and actual gameplay. Too many games now days focus too much on being cinematic or interactive movies that it makes me go back playing older games on older systems such as the PS2 & PS3. My favourite PS3 franchise is without a doubt the InFamous series. Another great thing about the PS3 is that it plays all PS1 games, even on disc. It's also a great DVD/Blu-Ray player, but it depends weather or not it's region locked, since I unfortunately got a region locked one, so I can't play all DVD's that are outside Region 2, although some Region 1 DVD's do actually work. Mostly DCAU & Warner Brothers cartoons. Even though I had some overheating issues with my PS3 console, it happens very rarely, but over all I still love my PS3 Superslim.
Playstation 3 is also the console on which the Soulsborne series was born, with the original Demon's Souls - perhaps the most influential game of this century so far, and an alll-time classic.
@@fuzzylogic3017 I never played Demon's Souls on PS3. It's very hard to find a decent copy of the game and through stuff like EBay or Amazon, it is pretty expensive of a game.

Even when the day arrives that all games for online gameplay for the PS3 are dead and gone, at least we will still have a ton of single-player games we can still play and get that feeling of what it was like to play those games during the height of the PS3 era. Currently, I'm on my PS3 in front of my TV playing "Enslaved Odyessey to the West" and this game never gets old. This game is one of many games that make having a PS3 worth having in the first place. And by the way, I always use a Dualshock 3 controller on my PS3 instead of a Dualshock 4 because it just seems most appropriate to do so. These days, I really value genuine DS3 contollers because most of DS3 controllers on marketplaces like Amazon and Ebay are fake ones. Take care of your devices people.
Looking at it now, I'm sure online games will survive on the ps3 like on xbox. Fans are starting to get their head around preserving old mp games through private servers. Not everything will last but there will be some holdouts I bet.

Warhawk, MAG, Killzone 2 amd 3, and Unreal Tournament 3 were my favorite online multiplayer experiences of the PS3 gen. Warhawk in 2007 was insane. 4 player splitscreen and all 4 of you can go online in 32 player matches. Theres a whole host of remasters and revision games as well as obscure exclusives on the PS3 that will never leave the platform and unless you have the means to emulate with RPCS3, they will be forever lost because Sony hates backwards compatibility now.
I owned a ps3 back when it came out but I was a poor college kid. I still have it. I am almost done with my ps4 library and no PS5. Thinking about filling out my ps3 library and going back.

When I used to be a self-proclaimed game collector, I had a PS3 from 2017, up until last year (2022), due to selling it because of financial difficulties. I was playing Transformers Fall of Cybertron, Uncharted 3, and Battlefield 3 mostly for online games. Those games were so fun.
I have a friend who still plays the 360 and more specifically mw3 original. I say what's up every once in a while and respect he just loves that time in gaming
Since my peak online play time in 2015 on destiny 1 I've been playing less and less and haven't really been interested in buying new games and especially new consoles and my final days on ps4 online are coming as my ps+ is ending in a couple of days and will definitely not pay more and more just for online play only. I have bought 2 ps3s a backwards compatible one mainly just to collect and a super slim because I plan to use it all the time again as I still have my old ps3 games and plan on buying more.
Loved this video. I've been collecting PS3 games for about a year now after a random rush of nostalgia for this era, just finishing up the platinum for Splatterhouse with my sister. I rarely bought digital so my old account mainly just had trophies and it's been really fun replaying some games and actually playing some I was not able to find back then. Shame about some PS3 games having their online services taken down. I truly miss this era the most. I will never forget just coming home with the occasional new game and having a big play session with my sister. ;-;7
@@MAWK3 It's very clunky, but I find it super enjoyable to go back to a period in time where games didn't feel formulaic and solved. Y'kno that and the licensed music they chose to use for some of the boss themes in the game are *chef's kiss*. I would suggest trying it out but the game is still rather pricy.
It would be nice if on PS6 they could finally emulate PS3 games on it and even read discs. It’s kind of silly how you still need a PS3 around for certain games it’s a great pairing with a PS5 but one day it would be nice if a PS6 could embrace BC the way Xbox does. We know the unique architecture of the PS3 has to do with it but they are emulating PS3 on PC nowadays it can be done.
I was VERY happy when i started an old PS3 and logged into PSN. Only to find out my WHOLE library was deleted from my account WTF. The only thing i had left were the transactions list
I bought the ps3 5 times now and sold them. I still do miss it but trying to go back to 30fps is the rough plus downloading updates/games takes forever. I recall downloading GT6 and my god I had my ps3 on and downloading it for 4 days straight
I rather play 30fps then the shit they put out like a cringe ass netflic original movie. Mw3 sucks and todays new games suck.. I’m still on ps4 and I love it…. PS Home was by far my favorite. It was my first real introduction to a multiplayer game, you could meet your friends, hang out, meet new people, play minigames, i absolutely loved it. Somehow it just screamed ''this is the future'' especially since i only knew PS2 singleplayer games before back then. There are still videos out there showcasing the final minutes until the servers shut down and its heartbreaking to see the people typing ''I will miss you all''. PS3 was truly peak gaming era.
It’s funny because it is true, I do play my ps3 more than my ps5. Like I only play on ps5 with my friends online, but I’m more active on a game called “MNR” a Sony kart racing game and it currently has a community bringing back the online aspects of it. And so I would be helping out by making content there such as anime mods and irl car replicas out of the karts. I have so much more fun on it than I do on ps5.
My favorite online games on ps3 was black ops 1 wished I played more online back then instead of replaying my games over and over again Could have played killzone 2, 3 or Uncharted 2
I love being able to go play tranzit online and der riese and kino der toten. I used to have no issues finding full lobbys on mw2 up until covid but now i cant find a lobby anymore 😢 Still havent had an issue playing mp on bo2 yet tho which makes me happy 😃 Minecraft hunger games on ps3 is always fun
It's offline but there's a few tales of games on the console that are exclusive (It's also the only way to play the symphonia sequel) I also was surprised fall for cybertron still had players. Ps3 is also region free so maybe japanese exclusives with online multiplayer are possible too. My issue with ps3 is inconsistencies with performance on certain games
It's so crazy that Xbox360 was more popular than the PS3, simply because Halo 3 carried it. Compared to the PS3 where the multiplayer is varied (even PlayStation Home was cool) and online multiplayer was free.
I think the 7th gen was the peak of gaming. At that time, we had truly good graphics and still have many AAA games to play with a very good variety of games. After this generation, AAA games takes way too long to develop so they only develop big multiplayer games or genres they know they'll sell. After this gen there's many genres we don't see that often anymore.
I think personally for me what makes me love the 7th gen gaming era, especially ps3, is that this was a time that developers were actually making games for adults, now developers know that children are, for the most part, the biggest player base, so knowing that’s the target audience they just tone down everything, that’s just one reason why games aren’t as interesting to me anymore
Games aren’t toned down for “children” that’s why we have a esrb rating, they are toned down and less edgy because they need to up their esg score and increase their stock value
@@Nightcrawler90210 to elaborate to that as well, games as a whole are more violent than ever and some games are more in depth than ever. Be real, back in the day the most complicated games were stuff like Starcraft and Command and Conquer, and we still have games similar to those today. Games like Dead Island 2, trepang 2 and honestly The Last of us 2 have been adding incredible gore systems and the ERSB wouldn't even let us play Manhunt 2 uncensored at an M rating. That game is a child's cartoon compared to the things you can do to people in games today. Baldurs Gate, Ready or Not, Elden Ring, certainly made for adults.
For me, PS3 feels like "current Hardware". I love this console so much. ❤ In 2023, I played more on my PS3 than on my New consoles. I have over 60 games and still buy new ones. Yes, I'm old and the nostalgia kicks hard. 😅
Truely PEAK PlayStation console that has stands the test of time! I am a PlayStation collector and the PS3 is the PS Console that I love the most!!! It's a console that is wayyy ahead of its timee I own 2 PS3 Slims and I usually buy 2 copies of a coop or a multiplayer game especially with a LAN option and then I'll let my friends know that they can borrow my other PS3 and sink countless hours on it!
Yeah they call a PS3 retro but yet some of the PS3 games look better than modern especially Battlefield 3 looks fantastic for what it is I still play my PS3 constantly I was just playing Far Cry
Spoke to the dev reviving it last night. Going to take some time, but they made some significant progress recently. ua-cam.com/video/LHvIy8-7bj4/v-deo.htmlsi=OEYt9QLjIdYi5rAB
If you don't want to deal with the old controllers feel free to use one of the new console ones. They should be fully backwards compatible, I use my ps4 one on my ps3 and even the dualsense works on the ps3!
I never stopped playing my PS3. I love playing ps3 games for the nostalgia, trophy hunting, and playing new games I never played before. I feel the PS3 era is just way more fun modern gaming has been ruined by the greedy scummy companies. I play PS3 probably more than my PS5 as I mostly just watch youtube on my PS5 now. :( even before PS5 came out I played my PS3 probably about as much as I did my PS4 after 2017.
I remember when i first got a ps3 from around august 2020. i played so much sonic because i didn't care for anything else, and then i dropped it in early 2021, and lived to regret my choices. In April 2023, i picked up another ps3, and managed to restore my old account, getting back the sonic games i downloaded via ps store. On disc, i got tomb raider underworld, sonic generations, gta 5 (which became one of my most favorite games of all time), and cod black ops, world at war and advanced warfare. I'm still waiting to get Unleashed on the ps3, so i can relive the memories i had on my og ps3.
Free online multiplayer is the clincher, love to see the community keeping the PS3 online.

i still play ps3 to this day and i love it. my ps3 is jailbroken
Me too 🔥👏
When I used to be a self-proclaimed game collector, I had a PS3 from 2017, up until last year (2022), due to selling it because of financial difficulties. I was playing Transformers Fall of Cybertron, Uncharted 3, and Battlefield 3 mostly for online games. Those games were so fun.
Nice man! The transformers' games were really under apericated.
I've been collecting 360 for a few years now. My favorite is my Halo 3 360.
Loved playing Socom confrontation
I have a friend who still plays the 360 and more specifically mw3 original. I say what's up every once in a while and respect he just loves that time in gaming
killzone 3 was LIGHTYEARS away from what we have today. that dam game was ahead of its time
Thank god Sony didn’t shutdown the PS3 Online though
Even if they shutted down people will reopen it and some other ways but it won't be under Sony's control so they won't benefit if they did
Since my peak online play time in 2015 on destiny 1 I've been playing less and less and haven't really been interested in buying new games and especially new consoles and my final days on ps4 online are coming as my ps+ is ending in a couple of days and will definitely not pay more and more just for online play only.
I will never forget just coming home with the occasional new game and having a big play session with my sister. ;-;7
Thank you! Spatterhouse is one game I have always wanted to try.
Do you still play online on ps3 ?
@@mohammedsahraoui4131 I primarily play single player games but yes I do have online
@@mohammedsahraoui4131 Yep! Pretty much daily for the past 3+ Years.
That Resident Evil 5 End Chapter theme music though 4:07 :P
I still have my PS3 and it is still is goat and nostalgic. 🐐
Very good work.... Your vidéo is always Nice...
Thank you bro! 🙏
I still use my Playstation 3, ever so often. Mostly for single player games
I've been using it daily since 2021! It's certainly a console that stood the test of time.
I don't even have a psn account so i play solo and download games from these websites:no pay station works on ps3 however romspure needs usb
PS3 was also the last of playstation consoles to allow backwards compatibility.
No it's not. The Playstation 5 is backwards compatible with Playstation 4
I was VERY happy when i started an old PS3 and logged into PSN.
Only to find out my WHOLE library was deleted from my account WTF.
The only thing i had left were the transactions list
I didn’t know the online still works but I still play PS3 its one the best Sony consoles I like it much better than the PS4 and PS5
I'm still play Borderlands 2, BF3, BF4, sometime Dark Souls 1, why they shut down the Gran Turismo 6 server
Dusted off my ps3 and my connection has always been solid
Maybe takes 4 days to download your updates cause u still live next to mcdonalds using their free wifi ? 😂🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ he got a ps5 but stealing free wifi lol
I still can't believe we got all these experiences with 512MB of RAM.
Great video, the soundtracks you chose are perfect and generation defining for the ps3. Gave me huge nostalgia thanks bro💪🏼
Just bought a ps3 from Facebook marketplace to get on Playstation home but it's no longer available I miss that social space waay ahead of its time
PS Home was by far my favorite.
56 games and still playing
It’s funny because it is true, I do play my ps3 more than my ps5. Like I only play on ps5 with my friends online, but I’m more active on a game called “MNR” a Sony kart racing game and it currently has a community bringing back the online aspects of it. And so I would be helping out by making content there such as anime mods and irl car replicas out of the karts. I have so much more fun on it than I do on ps5.
Slightly unrelated but in my opinion, the PS3/PSP menu style is unmatched. It was so slick and clean
Agreed. The PS3 user interface is excellent.
My favorite online games on ps3 was black ops 1 wished I played more online back then instead of replaying my games over and over again
Could have played killzone 2, 3 or Uncharted 2
PS3 is peak gen🙏 I still love using my PS3. Sooooo many many many awesome games.
So many PS3 games I'd still play today...
I love being able to go play tranzit online and der riese and kino der toten.
I used to have no issues finding full lobbys on mw2 up until covid but now i cant find a lobby anymore 😢
Still havent had an issue playing mp on bo2 yet tho which makes me happy 😃
Minecraft hunger games on ps3 is always fun
Well i play em solo
GTAV, Killzone 3, Demon Souls, Burnout Paradise, Red Faction Guerilla, AC Brotherhood.
*ahem* far cry 3
It's so crazy that Xbox360 was more popular than the PS3, simply because Halo 3 carried it. Compared to the PS3 where the multiplayer is varied (even PlayStation Home was cool) and online multiplayer was free.
Thing is if we go by sales the ps3 managed to catch up to the 360 in the end.
I think it was tough because Xbox360 came out sooner and was cheaper so if you bought an Xbox it was harder to jump to PlayStation
PS3 beat the 360 by sales even though it wasn’t by much. 360 came out first too.
@@cripbk2147There's that and it also had people, that just bought both
I think the 7th gen was the peak of gaming. At that time, we had truly good graphics and still have many AAA games to play with a very good variety of games. After this generation, AAA games takes way too long to develop so they only develop big multiplayer games or genres they know they'll sell. After this gen there's many genres we don't see that often anymore.
Absolutely. 8th gen and now plays it a lot more safe.
Free online, no snowflakes getting you banned and great games!? OP
Resistance 2 was such a great multiplayer game.
Me and my eldest daughter who is 23 used love playing Warhawk together.
The ps3 is one of my favorite consoles of all time. I played the last of us factions multiplayer till the last day
I still play it on PS4!
For me, PS3 feels like "current Hardware".
I love this console so much. ❤
In 2023, I played more on my PS3 than on my New consoles.
I have over 60 games and still buy new ones.
Yes, I'm old and the nostalgia kicks hard. 😅
Great console! I grew up with it and still have fond memories. Unfortunately my ps3 isnt here anymore but thx to rpcs3 i can revisit old games on pc
I still play ps3 and ps2.
Uncharted 3, TLOU and GoW Ascension they were the best to me.
simple answer it was just the best gaming era ever
Black ops 1 and 2 are still popping on ps3
Truely PEAK PlayStation console that has stands the test of time!
I am a PlayStation collector and the PS3 is the PS Console that I love the most!!!
It's a console that is wayyy ahead of its timee
I own 2 PS3 Slims and I usually buy 2 copies of a coop or a multiplayer game especially with a LAN option and then I'll let my friends know that they can borrow my other PS3 and sink countless hours on it!
i live stream gta 4 online very few days and tbh i have so much fun with it more than what i do with the ps4 - ps5
The Little big planet soundtrack always gets me and makes me dream
Could you do a Nintendo Wii U most active online games?
Some my favorite was the transformers pvp online on ps3,gta online, super street fighter 4 good times
i bought 3 ps3s one of my fav consoles and so many fun games
You have a really great channel man, I been eagerly awaiting all your videos!
Thank you so much! Really means a lot to hear that 🙏
My ps3slim still alive and kicking up dust until i die !!
i wish i had my PS3 slim again, i was 9 when i got it on my 9th birthday in 25/07/2016
Yeah they call a PS3 retro but yet some of the PS3 games look better than modern especially Battlefield 3 looks fantastic for what it is I still play my PS3 constantly I was just playing Far Cry
I play PS3 online because is free like it should be!
Online is free on ps3 that’s why people still play it
I would shed a few tears to be able to play MAG online again.
Spoke to the dev reviving it last night. Going to take some time, but they made some significant progress recently.

@@john-sp8jk Dunno about 2024 but is being worked on!
I still got my ps3.Its great to play games on a modern 4k tv😊.
im very late to xbox 360 and ps3 onlne, my parents never bought me a console, these were given to me and ive recently started to play ps3 online
Still a great time to play :)
If you don't want to deal with the old controllers feel free to use one of the new console ones. They should be fully backwards compatible, I use my ps4 one on my ps3 and even the dualsense works on the ps3!
Simply because the best games were released on it. unlike what we have right now.
I still play my ps3 ( not online) but so many ps3 games I missed yet I still play my vita, psp, ps4 and ps5
I was a battlefield 3/4 and Gran Turismo 5/6 online player. I miss it so much 😢
i still check minecraft's online multiplayer. seems to be somewhat active from my experience.
Whats your PSN?
Battlefield 4 still has a great online community on ps3, i play it weekly and have dozens of psn friends who do as well
