FINALLY, I found someone like me It's so hard because you either open a video with a girl who already has curly hair or another one with a straight hair
@@fdvdc truueee that's why i cut it maybe i regret that my hair was soo long but at least i only manage one type of hair (but i did this when my curls started to be in the middle part two because i wouldn't look good in a verryyy short cut )
I just decided to chemically treat my hair to make it straight. I cannot ANYMORE deal with my curly hair. It's just too much I had a breakdown trying to detangle it because I passed out without braiding it down. I'm tired of this.
Me too thinking about that because probably I will have to go to a hostel next year and it will be lot harder to deal with curly hair unlike my own place..but I'm afraid i will regret in future
You should try sleeping with a satin or silk scarf. Last year I went through the same thing with heat damage. I would wash and then braid my hair while it’s wet after the shower and sleep with the braid wrapped in the satin scarf and it helps with fizz! And you will have nice wavy hair style so it’s more of a cohesive look :) Ik it’s hard going through hair transition but keep going it will pay off!! :)
Jill! I love the progress updates, with someone who struggles with curly hair it’s great to see another persons journey! Embrace it. May I say, the only real way to see results especially at the and of your hair is to cut some off. Trust me, it worked wonders on mine and brought back the curls. You need to get rid of the dead in order for new regrowth. You don’t have to go too short and hair grows back fast!
Yes, layers would help. You can't change the growth rate, but a good layered trim might give a better shape. I have 2A wavy which basically only has waves the day I wash it. Once I sleep on it all the frizz and waves go away. I did grow out gray though. I found my hair grew faster during the summer and slower during the winter. Regular cuts made the growing out phase better. The difference wasn't huge and my hair does grow more than 6 inches per year. So it does grow faster than normal overall. It took nearly 2 years to have my hair all be natural in color. I also cut it to a bob from my waist to help it along.
Your top layer is the most damaged, that's why it grows slower, also the ends probably break off. But the curls look so so so good! They are very cute and I'm sure you'll look amazing once its all grown out. It just takes time getting used to it. For quicker growth I heard rice water helps a lot. Kayla Lashae has a video with results on it, you should check it out!
My hair used to look exactly like yours in this video from years of over straightening it and then I stopped using heat and started making linaza (flax seed hair gel, you should look into it) and I swear on everything that's what kicked started my hair growth and saved my natural curls! I've had my bouncy curls back for a few years now and I absolutely love them! Also, the R=Co Cassette line for curly hair is awesome and has been working really well for me (:
I mean I Look Good with my hair smoothened but at the same time I want to define my curls 👀 Sad Reality - This is my hair rn, quarter curly and the rest smoothened 🙄
Cut it!!! (The top) do curtain bangs strands and a few healthy layers. It’ll help look cute when wet but also help it grow faster to help keep up with the middle and bottom half. Looking good though.🌟
@@ExtraJill I agree! I feel like you have enough length to get it cut! I am sure a skilled hair dresser could blend it and make the top layer work out. Even if they left just a touch of the straight ends that might blend in ok.

Wanted to say that I love how you are documenting the process for not only you but for others as well! When i went through growing my curly hair out after doing many chemical treatments to it for years I felt like I was the only one going through it. I had no idea what I was doing. So many people go through this process but no one really talks about it! To be honest, it took me a very long time to grow out my curly hair to a reasonable length in my opinion (I was scared to cut it too short). Even now, about 3 years after my last chemical treatment, I still see some straight bits on the top layers of my hair. But it isn't as noticeable and I can still wear my hair curly! Cutting your hair into layers helps a lot with so much extra straight pieces on the top. I took biotin a lot which helps with growth. My hair was always braided or in a bun. I would also say to get as many trims as possible because it helps with growth as well. For curly hair it is best to wash it as less as possible, it will also help with growth! This process can totally be a pain but keep going it will totally be worth it in the end!
Olaplex is the TRUTH. I got get the 2 treatment at my stylist monthly. From my experience, it doesn’t grow your hair per se but keeps your existing hair strong and not breaking off.
i've been BINGE watching your old vlogs (i promise i'm not a creeper lol) but i thought you should react to your old vlogs! i think it would be so fun to watch and maybe you can give updates on all the people that were in your old vlogs!
I have naturally curly hair and get keratin as well! When my keratin is grown out, i will blow dry it all in sections with a round brush so it gets super straight. that’ll help it to blend a little more if you’re wearing it straight!
Wear your hair in a bun, try aloe gel in your hair. I use to want my hair super long in high-school I use to wear my hair in a bun all summer and sometimes.. well I am not a professional at all so take this advice at your own risk I use to hang upside down for a few minutes and I like to think that it helped my hair grow rapidly.... but yet agian I am not a professional but if you try this method try it for a month for like 5 minutes hang your head upside down on the side of your bed.... also wear your hair in braids at night :) hope this helps
This is basically my condition right now😩I have 3b 3c curly hair and I did smoothening and the volume at my base is so much that I don't feel like going out of my home... whenever I get ready all ask me if I took bath and I look lile I came straight out of bed with my hair like that😫 I'm waiting for it to grow to atleast my neck to chop of the length. I'm regularly trimming the straight hair🙋♀️hope it turns out well
i think you should trim your bangs, keep your part on the side, and use a different shampoo! its growing nicely and the more straight you can cut out of it over time, the more it will curl and grow :)
I am on the same boat as you, literally. Same length, same awkward texture on top & bottom. These last couple weeks I have been struggling to style. I did something yesterday that totally gave wave to my straight pieces because nothing was “curling them”. I boiled some water, added vinegar. Once it cooled down that’s what I used to wash my hair in the shower. Still used shampoo and conditioned like normal. I was so surprised!!! Many ways to do the Apple cider vinegar rinse. This is just how I did it. I definitely recommend it! It worked for me!!! From Q (on my girls page)
Lokking at myself six month after straightening my hair, I shaved it qll last july, and now it's growing back, CURLY AND SO SHORT I don't know how to style it, and that's what brought me here. Hahaha the wrong video but yet relatable. 😅
I found that keeping my natural hair in a bun helped it grow so fast because it stayed pretty wet throughout the day and maintained a lot of moisture. I wet it every morning and put it up with a little product (a leave-in conditioner and sometimes a curling cream) and gel. Also, regular trims at home were clutch.
Head massages oiling and eat red meat and take a multivitamin. Your hair loses all its zinc, selenium and Bcomplex vitamins which is why its not getting springy on top.
My hair has grown like crazy during quarantine using the Kristin Ess Working Serum after every shower! You just apply to wet hair and comb through, and you can buy it at Target. I'd also recommend collagen supplements (you can get powder or pills). They supposedly help a lot, too!
My bangs took FOR👏🏾EV👏🏾ER👏🏾 to get curl trained. I spot treated them a lot (like almost once every week) and sometimes when I was too lazy to twist/braid my hair before, I always made sure to at least braid my bangs (I move a lot when I sleep and it was causing breakage). Maybe that might help you?
Love the idea of some layers and face framing bangs to trim out some straight hairs and give your hair a better shape. I think a side hair part would look nice with the curly hair. Middle part looks more boxey

Not sure about products, as I don't have curly hair BUT I do think it'd be helpful to enjoy the growth and have more hairstyles to do by doing your part more to one side and just getting a crimper to only put on the ends that are straight and already "damaged" . I want to lean to take care of my natural hair as i started to miss my old curls even tho they were a pain in the ass.
The top part grows slower and has the most damage since it’s the part you heat style the most to look better when going out. I would go to a curly hair specialist to cut your hair because they help blend in the damage with the new growth. From one curly girl with damaged hair to you!
It's so weird looking at your hair, cause mine looked exactly the same when I started. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. I've not been using enough moisture myself lately, too much protein and my curly have not been liking it. My hair was longer than yours, but I was so tired of the ends I just put my hair in two ponytails and cut it into a lob. My mom had to help even it out in the back. I find that regular haircuts help, I actually have to cut my hair today again cause it grows out so uneven and it's in a triangle shape right now as a result of the growth. When my hair wouldn't grow, I made a mixture of : 1. Bergamot essence, 2. Bayrum, and 3. Hair placenta (all things you can buy at the drug store). You mix it with equal parts of each, preferably in an old shampoo bottle, or any container you can store it in. But before you wash your hair you slather it on your scalp, leave it in for 15min and then wash as normal. The bergamot essence and bayrum combined is a pretty strong smell, but it helps your hair grow so fast
I remember watching your japanese hair straightening videos before deciding to do it a few years back since then ive gone natural and my hair is nearly down to my waist (stretched tho)! My secret was weekly scalp massages w tea tree or peppermint oil and rice water rinses. Honestly, looking back, I wish I would’ve done my big chop sooner! I will 100% never go back!
chop some onion and add it to your shampoo, it wont smell like onion and it will grow FAST. You should also cut some layers into you hair, it'll help to blend it better!
I use the curl talk line right now and I've really been liking it! The shampoo and conditioner are okay but the styling cream and gel have been amazing! The refreshing foam is nice for multiple day wear too. The mousse was a little too heavy for my light waves but I can tell it would be great on curlier hair!
LOL love that you try to train your cat, I do the same thing and things we do every day sometimes, multiple times a day, she just stares at me like I'm dumb. For hair growth, I put liquid vitamin e oil in my shampoo, also great for the skin, and eyelash growth.
hey jill 💕 so cool to see your hair journey, i think the top layer is not showing the growth because its the part that is most affected by styling it. i really enjoy your vlogs 💖💖💖
I’m on the same boat trying to grow out my natural hair. I did get the curly cut because some of my straight pieces was weighting down my curls, and now my curls are looking better. Just a few more months to go Jill trust me you will look amazing.
Hey Jill after going platinum my curls went away and I had to cut so much off and last year in July I finally just dyed my hair all dark and started my journey to let it grow so it could get curly and finally this month I was able to cut off all the straight ends and my hairs up to my shoulders now but it’s all curly and I was so happy I went to a curly girl certified salon in Downey CA like 30 minutes from LA it’s called a curly walk salon 10/10 recommend lol whenever you go to one and I had the same problem the front part of my hair had more straight ends than all the other sections of my hair so idk if that just happens but I’m glad it’s gone now good luck with the journey 💕💕💕
Oh another thing that the hair stylist told me was that my hair needed hydration and I used shea moisture products and she told me that those products are watered down so it’s not good if you need hydration which most curls need and she used innersense the hydrating shampoo and conditioner omggg it was such a difference I was in shock
You wash your hair once a week right? I feel like I remember that's what you said. When I'm focusing on growing out my hair or repairing it, I wash it even less than that if I can get away with it because it was getting more dry and fragile quicker. When I do wash it, I shampoo, condition, deep condition, and then once out of the shower I also use an Aveda damage remedy serum. I started this in quarantine along with biotin and my hair is growing like crazy and is really strong and way less frizzy!
I do wash it once a week! I could def go longer though (like honestly probably 2 weeks without a wash, my hair never gets greasy). Thanks for the tips :)
@@ExtraJill cool I'm excited to see the video I can't believe I've never heard of this stuff I'm just finding out about it myself I've only used it one time so far

Nature's Bounty Vitamins hair skin & nails worked wonders on my hair. & Mane & tail shampoo & conditioner. Really made my hair grow a bunch.
Awesome! I just ordered mane and tail and I have some natures bounty that I never started taking, so I should make a bigger effort at that :)
When my hair wouldn't grow, I made a mixture of :
1. Bergamot essence, 2. Bayrum, and
If you don't want to lose too much length just cut a small amount of hair each month till you feel comfortable with it
Also Kerastase specifique stimuliste .. stimulates hair growth
Pillowsoft curls by Miss Jessie. It’s the BEST!
Try flexi rods or a braid out so that your hair is all one texture.
What keratin did you use?
the curly girl method is the best!!
You sound and look like Anne Hathaway as Princess Mia before she got her hair straightened 😍
💯
chop some onion and add it to your shampoo, it wont smell like onion and it will grow FAST. You should also cut some layers into you hair, it'll help to blend it better!
i have the same hair as her, will definitely try this out!
castor oil
Use rice water on your hair!
girl get MONAT ! its great
I use the curl talk line right now and I've really been liking it!
For hair growth, I put liquid vitamin e oil in my shampoo, also great for the skin, and eyelash growth.
hahahaha glad you can understand. Maybe some day!!!
Your hair is growing like weed 😍
your hair looks great
I love your videos!
hey jill 💕 so cool to see your hair journey, i think the top layer is not showing the growth because its the part that is most affected by styling it. i really enjoy your vlogs 💖💖💖
That's what I was thinking as well! Glad you're enjoying watching!!!
I’m on the same boat trying to grow out my natural hair. I did get the curly cut because some of my straight pieces was weighting down my curls, and now my curls are looking better. Just a few more months to go Jill trust me you will look amazing.
For sure! Just gotta keep it up in the mean time!!
I'm going thru the same struggle even worser😭
Me too😭😭
🥰 night night, Jill & Molly.
Thanks for the tips! I'm using Shea Moisture right now and it has a good clean rating, but I'll definitely take a look at innersense!
so relatable!! im going through the same thing
Me too i almost cried seeing her going through the same thing
@@ExtraJill It could definitely be worth a try! especially if you don't get greasy so you won't have to dry shampoo much either :)
Awww that face though. (Molly cat)
Molly getting in the bathtub scared me so much! Ahah
haahhahah scared me when I was editing too!!!
Still pretty ❤️
I'm going through the same thing with the top of my hair but the aphogee protein and deep condition is working pretty good
Love, I'm def gonna order that!
@@ExtraJill cool I'm excited to see the video I can't believe I've never heard of this stuff I'm just finding out about it myself I've only used it one time so far
Please cut your hair, Jill! In the nicest way possible, you need it. You will not see any major progression with your curls until you chop off the dead. You need new regrowth, and the top of your head needs a better style.
I'm not comfy with cutting allllll of the straight hair off, def would go shorter though :)
Prenatal vitamins made my hair grow super fast or maybe you could try "hair, skin and nails vitamins"
